WAITING FOR TOMMY: IGOR KORDEY
By Richard Johnston

RICHARD: Now Marvel seem to be replacing the cover to Excalibur that you had drawn. Was that your request, or are they whitewashing your name from their comics totally?

IGOR: The cover assignment was taken from me last Monday, that's how it all started. And they won't get rid of me totally - they still owe me royalties for upcoming X-Treme books and trade collections. Unless they decide not to publish them, but then that's not a profitable decision.

RICHARD: I understand you were asked to stop drawing in the middle of an issue of Excalibur. Had the problems between you and Marvel been building, or was it sudden?

IGOR: It was goin' on for some time - this cover is good example: I got a notice about their "sudden" decision on Monday, and saw the new, painted cover on Wednesday on Newsarama - got the point? They like to keep people in the dark...

RICHARD: Has working for Marvel soured your taste for working for American or English-speaking comics? What happens to Igor Kordey now?

IGOR: No, haven't lost my guts, and I'm always into new challenges. The hardest thing to accept is the fact about dying - after you go through it, everything else is a piece of cake. . Aside from getting new job offers from American publishers this afternoon, I'll concentrate a bit more on European market. They are not too upset about exposed cleavages or buttcracks.

RICHARD: Hell, we relish them! And as very interview seems to have you exposing your buttcrack in Marvel's general direction, I look forward to your next project. Hopefully something without diapers.

Igor Kordey was the new artist on Excalibur, and his work can be seen in the most recent New X-Men hardcover, X-Treme X-Men trade paperbacks and more. He can be found here. Rich Johnston writes Lying In The Gutters.
