THE
COTTON CLUB: SPIDER-MAN 2
By

Raimi
also adds that Doc Ock is a very different villain from the
psychotic Green Goblin, who was killed at the end of the first
Spider-Man film.
"I never
considered Doc Ock as a madman," Raimi told USA Today. "He
just gets his priorities out of order. He's ruthless, but
I always thought of him as sane but misguided."
Molina,
who had to take off weight after filming "Frida" to play the
part of Doc Ock, has built himself into the shape of a self-described
1950's bodybuilder an the work outs are coming in handy since
his characters four tentacles weight 75 to 100 pounds and
take four puppeteers to handle each one. But according to
Raimi, some of the tentacles wild moves will be enhanced by
CGI technology, something he's familiar with after breaking
new ground in the first film with shots of Spider-Man swinging
through the streets of New York.
While
Raimi's been dodging questions for months about the plot of
the film, he has commented on some long-standing rumors. First
off, Doc Ock will not pursue Peter's Aunt May in a romantic
subplot, as he's done in the comics. Also on the romantic
front Felicia Hardy, the Black Cat, will not appear in the
sequel but Betty Brant will and although she only has a slightly
larger part in "Spider-Man 2" than her cameo in "Spider-Man"
Raimi said they could expand the role in the future to create
a love triangle between her, Peter and Mary Jane.
Dr. Curt
Connors, the evil Lizard, who was referenced in the first
film will also appear but don't expect any transformations.
Actor Dylan Baker, will play Dr. Connors, but the Lizard is
on hold for this films.
And while
Maguire's been signed for one more sequel, Raimi coyly said
he's not sure if he'll return, simply telling USA Today, "I
don't know if they are hiring me."
But,
if "Spider-Man 2" is half the movie fans are expecting, Raimi
won't have any problems getting the go-ahead for a third film.
