PARAMOUNT SETS 1980S ACTION THRILLER ‘BELLA’ WITH SAMARA WEAVING03/28/23 @ 8:39 pm EST
Source: Deadline | Categories: MIsc | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a Comment
Paramount Pictures is developing the action thriller
Bella with
Scream VI actress Samara Weaving set to star in the Larysa Kondracki-directed title,
Deadline reports.
Craig Flores is producing via Bread & Circuses Entertainment and Chad Stahleski is producing through his 87eleven Entertainment. Alex Young and Jason Spitz are executive producing via 87eleven.
Jesse Wigutow is writing based on Jason Markarian’s script.
Set against the backdrop of a crime wave that gripped New York City in the ’80s,
Bella is a hyperstylized action thriller about a cop’s daughter who, as her father clings to life following an assassination attempt, goes on a rampage to unearth her father’s attacker and weed out deep-rooted corruption in the New York City Police Department.
Flores tells Deadline: “
Bella cleverly reinvents the female-led action genre pairing a sexy and unapologetic rock ‘n’ roll edge with the gritty heightened realism of ’80s New York City. Collaborating with Chad Stahelski and 87Eleven, whose talent is singular in bringing unparalleled action films to worldwide audiences, is a dream for me, Larysa, and Samara.”

KELLY THOMPSON & LEONARDO ROMERO LAUNCHING NEW 'BIRDS OF PREY' FOR DC THIS FALL06/06/23 @ 12:28 pm EST
Source: ComicBook | Categories: DC | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a Comment
A fan-favorite team is coming back to the DC Universe.
Writer Kelly Thompson has announced on Twitter that a new, ongoing
Birds of Prey series is coming to DC this fall. While details on the series were few, Thompson wrote in the tweet that the series would feature Black Canary "building the most dangerous Birds of Prey team yet". The series will arrive in September. Thompson will be joined by Leonardo Romero and Jordie Bellaire on art. Thompson also made the announcement on her Substack.
The new series marks the first DC series for Thompson whose run on Marvel's
Captain Marvel ends this month. It also sees Thompson reteaming with
Hawkeye creative partners Romero and Bellaire.
Thompson teased that the new
Birds of Prey book won't simply be a revisit of what fans have seen before. As fans may recall, the Birds of Prey team has traditionally consisted of Black Canary, Huntress, and Barbara Gordon, though there have been other members over the years, including Lady Blackhawk, Katana, Manhunter, and more.
"I'll offer ONE hint: You guys know I'm not just going to bring back an exact team that's already existed, right?" Thompson wrote. (via

MICHAEL KEATON TALKS THE FUN FEELING OF MAKING 'BEETLEJUICE 2'06/05/23 @ 8:29 pm EST
Source: Empire | Categories: MIsc | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a Comment
Empire recently hosted the one and only Michael Keaton as part of a VIP event also featuring a screening of 1989's
Batman and the upcoming
The Flash, in which he reprises his iconic superhero role for the first time in decades. But Keaton also opened up about the joy of working on another film which features a return for one of his classic characters:
Beetlejuice 2.
Keaton is clearly enthusiastic to be once again back with old friend, director Tim Burton, and finding more chaos for his bio-exorcist lunatic to cause.
"
Beetlejuice is the most f**kin’ fun you can have working. It’s so fun, it’s so great. And you know what it is? We’re doing it exactly like we did the first movie," he says. "There’s a woman in the great waiting room for the afterlife literally with a fishing line – I want people to know this because I love it – tugging on the tail of a cat to make it move."
The
Beetlejuice sequel is something that has been in development limbo for years, but Burton and Keaton are finally shooting it. And from the sounds of it, doing exactly what they want.
Beetlejuice 2 will be in cinemas on September 6, 2024.
