A lot of characters from the Marvel Comics universe are set to head to the small screen in the coming years, between an array of Marvel Studios series set for Disney+, and Sony series that are expected to debut on Amazon Prime. The first series announced for the latter category is
Silk, a live-action series that is expected to follow the story of Cindy Moon.
While details have been relatively slim since the series was announced last year, a new report from
The Illuminerdi sheds light on how the cast and crew of the series are coming together. The report indicates that Sang Kyu Kim (The Walking Dead, Jupiter's Legacy) is set to serve as showrunner and executive producer on the series.
The report also includes a casting description for Cindy Moon, who is described as a Korean-American between 19 and 29 years old who is a kid from Queens who is on her own for the first time. Although she’s a total beginner in law enforcement and fighting crime, she is said to love the feeling of beating up criminals to let her frustrations out, and has an affinity for ‘80s and ‘90s pop culture. She also struggles with her identity and heritage, but she tries to focus on her family, friends, and relationships.
While there's no telling exactly who will be cast in the lead role, the report also reveals that producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller have reportedly met with actress Adeline Rudolph, who is best known for her role on Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and currently appears on Riverdale.
Good Trouble and Atypical alum Lauren Moon was previously in talks to write the Silk series. The show will be part of Lord and Miller's overall deal to develop Spider-Man-themed TV shows. ANIME EXPO 2021 CONFIRMS VIRTUAL EVENT03/03/21 @ 10:03 pm EST
Source: ComicBook | Categories: MIsc | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a Comment
Anime Expo was just one of many conventions last year, anime or otherwise, that was forced to transition from an in-person event to a virtual one, and it seems as if the long-running convention might be disappointing fans as they confirm that they will be following suit this year with their 2021 Con taking place virtually.
In an official statement, the convention noted that the event which was slated for this summer, in the month of July specifically, would need to take place digitally thanks to the coronavirus pandemic still in the world today.
In the official statement delivered by Ray Chiang, the Chief Executive Officer for the Society of the Promotion of Japanese Animation, the convention is confirmed to be going completely virtual for its 30th-anniversary event that will be landing this summer:
"With the continued uncertainties surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, it is apparent that we will not be able to safely hold a physical show this July for Anime Expo 2021. We will miss gearing up for a full weekend of parading around the LACC and reuniting with friends just as much as you will, but we take comfort in knowing this separation is only temporary and that it’s the right thing to do. While we’re not able to meet in-person, we still want to celebrate 2021 in honor of our 30th anniversary, and we will continue to share stories, photos, and memories with #AnimeExpo30th!" (via

PEACH MOMOKO TRANSFORMS BLACK WIDOW, NIGHTCRAWLER, AND MORE IN 'DEMON DAYS: MARIKO'03/03/21 @ 3:59 pm EST
Source: Marvel | Categories: Marvel | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a CommentToday, mega popular cover artist Peach Momoko made her highly-anticipated writing and interior art debut in DEMON DAYS: X-MEN #1! The Marvel's Stormbreaker artist invited fans to enter a breathtaking new vision of the Marvel Universe complete with her extraordinary versions of the X-Men, the Avengers, Venom, and more. And today, Marvel is proud to reveal the title and cover for the second installment of the Demon Days saga coming in June: DEMON DAYS: MARIKO! This spectacular story will dive even deeper into the world Momoko has single-handedly created and introduce her takes on characters such as Black Widow and Nightcrawler.
In the shadow of Kirisaki Mountain… a secret history comes to light! Mariko Yashida hears mysterious voices and has strange dreams that feel real. Her redheaded maid who dresses all in black might know more than she lets on. What is the connection between Mariko, the creatures called oni, and Kirisaki Mountain? Find out in the next installment of this tale of magic, monsters, and Marvel characters like you’ve never seen them before, all beautifully rendered by Peach Momoko! Here’s what the elite artist had to say about this epic series:
“The first issue of Demon Days starts off in feudal Japan with Sai (Psylocke)… but the next issue will be completely different. Different timeline, different characters (even the main character is changing), different tone to the story. But it is still a connecting story.
“The second issue starts with the new main character [Mariko Yashida] and is a story that I originally pitched to CB a couple years ago. The connection between the first issue and the rest of the series is that they are all based in Mt. Kirisaki. The first issue is a folktale about Mt. Kirisaki. And the rest of the series is about characters having a deep relationship with the mountain. After the first issue, I will be telling a traditional Japanese folktale with a modern twist.
“All of my characters are based on Marvel characters but turned into yokai, kami, and other Momoko-verse ideas inspired by Japanese folklore. They all look different, act different… but I hope everyone will still enjoy my version of the Marvel world.”
Don’t miss the next chapter in this unforgettable saga when DEMON DAYS: MARIKO hits stands in June.

Source: Variety | Categories: MIsc | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a Comment
In a sign of optimism, Sony Pictures plans to release
Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway on the big screen earlier than anticipated.
The animated sequel, which was originally scheduled for June, will now arrive in movie theaters on May 14.
Though the U.S. box office has been slow to return amid the pandemic, films geared toward family audiences have been among the most commercially successful.
Tom and Jerry, an animated kids movie from Warner Bros., debuted to $14 million last weekend, ranking as the second-best opening of the coronavirus era. Universal’s
The Croods: A New Age has also been a popular draw, generating $52 million to date. Disney is unveiling
Raya and the Last Dragon, a cartoon fantasy adventure, in theaters and on Disney+ for a premium price on March 5.
Directed by Will Gluck,
Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway sees the return of the furry rogue bunny. In the sequel, Peter finds himself unable to shake his mischievous reputation. He ventures out of the garden and finds himself in a world where his antics are appreciated, but he has to reconsider the cost when his family risks everything to come looking for him. The voice cast includes James Corden as Peter Rabbit, Rose Byrne, Domhnall Gleeson and David Oyelowo. (via
