BRUBAKER & PHILLIPS’ LOVECRAFTIAN MYSTERY 'FATALE' TO BE COLLECTED INTO COMPENDIUM PAPERBACK04/12/24 @ 1:38 pm EST
Source: Image Comics | Categories: Image | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a CommentThe bestselling, contemporary classic comic book series Fatale—by multiple Eisner Award winning duo Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips (Criminal, Night Fever, Reckless, Where the Body Was) with colorists Elizabeth Breitweiser (Outcast by Robert Kirkman and Paul Azaceta, The Fade Out) and Eisner Award winning Dave Stewart (The Bone Orchard Mythos: Tenement, Universal Monsters: Creature From The Black Lagoon Lives!)—will be collected in its entirety in the upcoming Fatale Compendium. This complete collected paperback will include all 24 issues of the Lovecraftian-infused mystery noir story and be available in July from Image Comics.
The Fatale series first launched from Image in 2012 to instant critical acclaim and was rushed back to print several times in order to keep up with demand and was nominated for numerous Eisner Awards that year. It remains one of the most popular, consistently reordered titles in the Brubaker and Phillips oeuvre.
"Fatale was our first book at Image, and I always wished we had it in a single volume edition, because it really is meant to be read as one big epic story," said Brubaker. "The puzzle pieces of this horror-noir tale are designed to resonate off each other and make earlier scenes have more impact, so this book is actually my ideal way for our readers to discover Fatale again."
Fatale darkly blends American crime noir with unnamed Lovecraftian horrors. Readers jump from 1950s San Francisco—where crooked cops hide deeper evils—to mid-'70s Los Angeles—where burnt-out actors and ex-cult groupies are caught in a web around a Satanic snuff film—then back through the ages of time. At the center of it all is the mysterious Josephine—a curse woman with a hypnotic, supernatural power to die or kill for.
Brubaker and Phillips’ names have been stealing headlines left and right lately with The Hollywood Reporter’s buzzy scoop that Amazon has given a full series order to another of their backlist darlings, Criminal, with Brubaker co-showrunning and writing the pilot. The pair also has an upcoming graphic novel, Houses of the Unholy, set to his shelves this August.
Fatale Compendium paperback (ISBN: 9781534327658) will be available at local comic book shops on Wednesday, July 17 and independent bookstores, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Books-a-Million, and Indigo on Tuesday, July 30.
Fatale remains available across many digital platforms, including Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, and Google Play.

JASON MOMOA ALMOST GOES TOO FAR03/23/25 @ 12:39 pm EST
Source: Threads | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a CommentEven though his time as Aquaman is done,
Jason Momoa is still in the DC family and is currently filming
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow over in England opposite of
Milly Alcock. Momoa appeared on
the Jimmy Kimmel Show earlier this week to promote his upcoming Minecraft movie where he stars with
Jack Black. And While he didn’t say much other than confirming that he will be Lobo, during another interview with
CinemaBlend where he was accompanied by Black, Momoa almost showed the interviewer an image of him in the Lobo make-up until his publicist intervened. Also Black was trying to angle for a cameo in the film. Well, head of DC Studios
James Gunn saw the interview and posted “I just want to profoundly thank Jason Momoa’s publicist… and Jack Black, anytime.” Gunn may need to borrow some of
Kevin Feige’s snipers from Marvel.
HOW THE RESIDENCE DEALT WITH THE JACKMAN ISSUE03/23/25 @ 12:12 pm EST
Source: TV Line | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a CommentThe new Netflix series,
The Residence, is a clever and quirky murder mystery that takes place in the White House during an important state dinner. The show, created by
Paul William Davies, straddles the line between humor and who-dunnit with the same efficiency as
Only Murders in the Building with an almost equally star-studded cast. But one of the biggest names in the show isn’t actually in the show. The murder of the chief usher, played by
Giancarlo Esposito, takes place at an important dinner trying to repair a strained relationship between the US and Australia and like with many real state dinners, luminaries from the visiting country attend, in this cause
Kylie Minogue and
Hugh Jackman. And while Minogue is seen often, either singing or trying to get into the Lincoln bedroom, Jackman is always shown from behind or the side… because Jackman is not part of the cast. He was written into the story, with a lot of appearances, but when it came time to ask him, the actor was just too busy. Davies said that Jackman sent a really nice and apologetic note about not being able to do the series. So, they improvised, cast two actors,
Ben Bigler and
Justin Ellis Johnson, to stand in for Jackman and just went for it. Which just added to the show’s quirkiness. If the show gets a second season, they should definitely carry this bit over. All eight episodes of
The Residence are available now on Netflix.
IS MARVEL TROLLING DAREDEVIL FANS OR ADDING TO THE SPECULATION?03/22/25 @ 1:20 pm EST
Source: Instagram | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a CommentThe official
Daredevil Instagram account added a very interesting post. The idea behind the post is to show a scene from
Daredevil: Born Again matched up to pages from the comics that they were pulled from. For example,
Daredevil #181 (1981) where Daredevil let Bullseye fall from a building… compared to the same scene in episode one. Or
Daredevil #595 (2015) when Fisk wins the election for Mayor of New York. And even two scenes from Daredevil #39 (2003) where Matt is defending Hector Ayala aka the White Tiger. But the really interesting choice here is that they chose
Daredevil #82 (2006) and linked it to the death of Foggy Nelson… but in the comic, it was the “apparent death” of Foggy as it is revealed five issues later that he is still alive. I’m sure this won’t add to the growing speculation that Foggy isn’t really dead.
VAL HAS SOMEONE ON HER SIDE IN THUNDERBOLTS*03/22/25 @ 12:44 pm EST
Source: The Direct | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a CommentThere has been one person missing from all of the trailers and promotional material we’ve seen for
Thunderbolts*. Originally
Ayo Edebiri from The Bear was cast in the film to play Val’s assistant, named Erin. Then Edebiri had to leave the project, and she was replaced by
Geraldine Viswanathan. While the role is believed to be small, Viswanathan name is appearing on the theater standees alongside some of the higher profile characters. But again, no sign of the character in any trailer until Empire Magazine released this new image from the film showing Viswanathan standing next to
Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine along with a few masked soldiers. There is, of course, on-line speculation that Erin will turn out to be a more prominent character from the comics… but in a movie with this many costumed characters, I wouldn’t bet on it.
AMAZON LOOKING AT 2 INTERESTING NAMES TO GUIDE BOND INTO FUTURE03/22/25 @ 12:04 pm EST
Source: Deadline | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a CommentAccording to
Deadline, Amazon MGM Studios is looking at two names familiar with steering big franchises to head up the
James Bond films when the handover from
Barbara Broccoli and
Michael G. Wilson is finalized. Amy Pascal and David Heyman are said to be the pair that Amazon wants running the OO7 franchise and that makes a lot of sense. Pascal oversaw four of the
Daniel Craig lead films from
Casino Royale to
Skyfall while she was with Sony as well as the
Spider-Man franchise which still produces even after leaving the studio. And Heyman helmed a little series called
Harry Potter, which is now being turned into an HBO series. It’s also said that the studio wants to do another OO7 film before doing any spinoff series. I wonder what the odds of Andrew Garfield or Daniel Radcliffe as the next Bond are?

ATOMIC HORRORS ARE UNLEASHED IN MINISERIES 'NEWS FROM THE FALLOUT'03/21/25 @ 8:10 pm EST
Source: Image Comics | Categories: Image Comics | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a CommentCritically acclaimed writer Chris Condon (
That Texas Blood,
Ultimate Wolverine), visionary artist Jeffrey Alan Love (
The Last Battle At The End Of The World,
The Thousand Demon Tree), and star letterer Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou are gearing up together for the stunning new sci-fi horror miniseries
News from the Fallout. Condon is known for co-creating the Image Comics neo-Western crime series
That Texas Blood and
The Enfield Gang Massacre spinoff miniseries, which was chosen as one of
The Hollywood Reporter’s “Best Comics of 2023” picks. This marks his first Image Comics series in collaboration with Love, who is making his direct market comic book debut as a series artist.
News from the Fallout, a thrillingly dark sci-fi horror, takes place in Nevada in 1962 during a nuclear bomb test that goes horribly awry. A dangerous contaminant gets released into the atmosphere, causing an apocalyptic chain reaction that changes the course of history. Strikingly crafted with ashy black and white art, the comic gives the feel of turning through the dusty pages of a 60s horror comic met with the experience of watching a staticky science fiction film. Fans of 60s sci-fi films and TV shows like
The Twilight Zone and
The Outer Limits, classic horror comics like
The Vault of Horror, and the works of authors Stephen King and Richard Matheson will enjoy this six-issue miniseries, launching this June.
The new miniseries follows patrons of an isolated diner in the aptly named 'Atomic Alley' of Nevada, who find themselves besieged by horrors unleashed by an atomic blast at a secret army base located nearby. Forced to flee, the patrons are joined by a defector from the base, Private Otis Fallows, who must contend with hostility from without and within as the unlikely group journeys to the theoretical safe haven of Sin City itself: Las Vegas.
"
News from the Fallout is a long-gestating project that I've been chipping away at for years,” said Condon. “To know that it's finally coming to life thanks to the incredible Jeffrey Alan Love, who has brought his profoundly unique style of art to this project, is nothing short of amazing. I'm thrilled to work with both Jeff and letterer Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou on this book and I hope that readers are ready for a thrill-packed ride that is unlike any other book you're likely to find on the shelves of your local comic shop."
Love added: “Working with Chris has been wonderful, as he has such a unique personal voice in his writing. Sometimes as an artist working with others I feel like I'm in a cover band, singing someone else's song, but this collaboration with Chris has been different. It has felt like both our voices have been amplified by the other.”
News from the Fallout #1 (of 6) will be available at
comic book shops on Wednesday, June 25:
Cover A by Love - Lunar Code 0425IM295
Cover B by Jacob Phillips - Lunar Code 0425IM296
News from the Fallout will also be available across many digital platforms, including Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, and Google Play.

STAR WARS' DOCTOR APHRA NAVIGATES NEW REPUBLIC IN NEW COMIC03/21/25 @ 11:06 am EST
Source: Marvel | Categories: Doctor Aphra | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a CommentShe’s back! Marvel’s very own
Star Wars superstar, DOCTOR APHRA, will headline a new ongoing comic series this June written by rising star Cherish Chen (
Radiant Red) and drawn by longtime
Star Wars artist Gabriel Guzman. Following Alex Segura and Phil Noto’s flagship
Star Wars series launching in May, STAR WARS: DOCTOR APHRA – CHAOS AGENT will be the second launch in Marvel’s new era of
Star Wars storytelling set in the largely unexplored post-
Return of the Jedi time period.
Debuting 10 years ago in the pages of Kieron Gillen and Salvador Larroca’s
Darth Vader, Doctor Chelli Lona Aphra instantly captivated fans with her morally questionable nature and deadly dynamic with the Dark Lord of the Sith, becoming the first-ever comic book originating
Star Wars character to star in their own solo series. After back-to-back hit 40-issue runs set during the Original Trilogy, Aphra embarks on her most unpredictable misadventures as the galaxy far, far away transforms in the wake of the Battle of Jakku. With her crimes pardoned, Aphra is enlisted by her friend Luke Skywalker to put her treasure hunting skills to good use on behalf of the New Republic!
OUT FROM THE SHADOW OF DARTH VADER AND IN MORE TROUBLE THAN EVER! Doctor Aphra makes her way through the galaxy in the era of the New Republic! The rogue archaeologist must team up with Luke Skywalker to track down a rare artifact! And what will she do when her tattoos no longer function?!
"In my humble opinion, there isn’t a more fun character to be writing in the
Star Wars galaxy than the one and only Doctor Aphra,” said Chen. “Cooking up new adventures for her in this new era, throwing her into increasingly tricky moral quandaries, and testing her resolve (alongside some familiar faces) has truly been like playing in the ultimate sandbox. Our favorite chaos agent is back, and I cannot wait to share what we’ve been working on and for you all to see Gabriel’s incredibly dynamic art."

'AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY' RUMORS: VITAL LOKI ROLE DETAILS REVEALED?03/21/25 @ 10:57 am EST
Source: The Direct | Categories: Marvel | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a Comment
Following his fate in
Loki Season 2, many had no idea how Tom Hiddleston's Loki would play into
Avengers: Doomsday, but now he will reportedly be the glue for the entire premise of the movie.
Many always expected Hiddleston to be in the film in some capacity, but it seems as though he may be more vital than anyone could have ever imagined.
Industry insider Alex Perez held a recent Q&A column on The Cosmic Circus to answer questions about future Marvel projects, specifically
Avengers: Doomsday. One fan asked Perez what Loki's role would be in
Doomsday and/or
Secret Wars, and Perez's answer was rather shocking.
"He’ll be our McGuffin. The race against Doomsday will be a race to see who gets to Loki first," Perez said.
Avengers: Doomsday was expected to release on May 1, 2026, but a recent report indicated that it may be delayed. (via The Direct)
GREG RUCKA AND MICHAEL LARK RETURN FOR 'LAZARUS: FALLEN'03/21/25 @ 10:41 am EST
Source: Image Comics | Categories: Image Comics | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a CommentGreg Rucka (
The Old Guard) and Michael Lark, the Eisner Award-winning creative team behind
New York Times
bestselling sci-fi series,
Lazarus, are returning to their neo-feudalist world with the final installment,
Lazarus: Fallen. For the new series, Rucka and Lark are joined by
Lazarus colorist Santi Arcas, letterer Ariana Maher, editor Alejandro Arbona, and graphic designers Eric Trautmann and Richard Howe on the creative team. In
Lazarus: Fallen, which launches this June, warrior Forever Carlyle is finally free from the control of the power-hungry Carlyle Family that wielded her like a weapon, and this time Forever Carlyle means to burn down the world of the Families…even her own.
The
Lazarus series follows Forever Carlyle, an unkillable, genetically-engineered soldier, controlled by the mechanisms of her father, Malcolm Carlyle. Malcolm is the patriarch of one of the powerful Families that rose to rule the world after an economic-driven apocalypse. The Families now own everything and everyone; in this neo-feudalist order, you are either of value to the Families and made a Serf, or you are irrelevant, disposable labor, called Waste.
But the Families are driven by greed, and in their unending pursuit of more and more, each created a Lazarus—a man or woman created and trained to be the loyal instrument of their Family’s will. Forever Carlyle is the Lazarus of the Carlyle Family, raised to absolutely believe in her duty to her family, and with an unquestioning loyalty to her father. That time is over, and now Forever—with the aid of her younger sister and next iteration of the Carlyle Lazarus, Infinity—means to destroy the world her father created.
“Michael and I started
Lazarus back in 2013, and while we knew we were telling a story that was a distorted reflection of our world, I don’t think either of us imagined how less distorted that vision would become,” said Rucka. “But for all the talk about the world-building, about the vision of the future—or arguably, prescience of the present—
Lazarus has remained, at its heart, about Forever’s journey. We’re finally getting to the resolution of it—the ending that we’ve been working on from the start. There’s so much I’m excited about sharing with this final run. There are things that I think will surprise some readers—some twists that they, perhaps, didn’t see coming. I know that it’s been a long wait for these final issues, and I’m grateful for the patience our audience has shown. We’ve got the most amazing fans, and that is both humbling and gratifying.”
Lark added: "I'm very happy to get
Lazarus back into readers' hands. Greg has given me so much to explore with the characters and storytelling, and I'm really excited about the work I've been doing on the new issues. I think it is some of the best work I've ever done, and I hope readers feel the same."
“I love working with Michael," said Rucka. "He fits my sensibilities for storytelling so effortlessly, and his character work is never anything less than superb. He always delivers on the action, but it’s in the quiet scenes, in the emotional beats, that I think he shines brightest—and it’s in those moments that the series lives and breathes. This is unquestionably the best work of Michael’s career thus far, and that is genuinely saying something.”
Lazarus: Fallen #1 will be available at comic book shops on Wednesday, June 25, featuring a cover by Lark. The series will also be available across many digital platforms, including Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, and Google Play.
For readers looking to catch up on the
Lazarus series, the first issue is available to read for free on the Image Comics website here. Volumes 1-7, and the first three hardcover collections, are currently available for purchase at comic book shops, bookstores, and across many digital platforms.
Lazarus: The Fourth Collection, a hardcover volume that collects
Lazarus #27 and #28, and for the first time, the complete seven-issue run of
Lazarus: Risen, with extras, will be available to purchase on May 21 at comic book shops (Lunar code 0325IM428) and on June 3 at independent bookstores (ISBN: 9781534335912), Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Books-a-Million, Indigo, and Waterstones, and across many digital platforms.
