Dynamite is excited to announce Dynamite Originals, a brand new imprint debuting first on Kickstarter with a heavy-hitting roster of creators taking on the company's flagship character — Vampirella! This new label will feature unique visions and innovative collaborations with the biggest creators in comics of today and tomorrow. It all starts on Tuesday April 16, with Vampirella: Black, White & Blood!



This prestige anthology project is a close collaboration with Arancia Studio, known for its juggernaut leader Mirka Andolfo (Sweet Paprika, Mercy, Harley Quinn). Some of the most exciting rising stars of the Italian studio join today's biggest names in American comics on this star-studded special release. The whole book sports a stunning black-and-white palette, with splashes of red to really show off the artwork in these three tantalizing tales. It's the ultimate spotlight on the character and an international team-up of the comics craft.

"I couldn't be more thrilled about this book," said creator Mirka Andolfo. "Vampirella is such an iconic character…I had the pleasure of drawing her before, but this is my first time writing her. And I really hope it's not my last, because I had a lot of fun, also because I was surrounded by phenomenal creators! You're going to see some great things...”

Andolfo's creative and business partner Davide G.G. Caci added, “When, with our friends at Dynamite, we started talking about a Black, White & Blood special for Vampirella, we knew right away that we were on the same page. It was amazing to see how everyone — their team, our team, our editor Davide Morando, and of course, all the creators — were on the same page. At Arancia, we love to create creative bridges, and this special issue is something to be proud of: extraordinary American and European artists and writers teaming up to tell some stories starring a unique character.”



Andolfo leads the way with a fascinating fable with a meta twist. In "Redefining Shadows," she and artist Greta Xella depict the most unlikely team-up for the Daughter of Drakulon. She finds in her path a group of talented female artists, writers, and creatives, setting out to redefine their approach to fiction and challenging the dominant male narratives and gaze in the comics industry. This story not only reimagines Vampirella's story, which originally broke boundaries, but emphasizes the importance of diverse voices in storytelling.

In "Undercover" by Tim Seeley (Nightwing, Hack/Slash) and Zulema Scotto Lavina the Drakulonian antiheroine is accused of a series of violent murders. To clear her name, she goes undercover, embedding herself in a gang of vicious vampire hunters. In her quest to track down the mystery killer and protect her own kind, she may discover the culprit could be someone close to her heart.

Last but certainly not least, "The Ballad of Blind Love" features the work of Steve Orlando (Wonder Woman, Midnighter) and Alessandro Amoruso, and depicts a love story like no other. A powerful mob boss is desperately in love with Vampirella and will do anything to win her over. Misinterpreting her character and reactions, he starts bringing increasingly heinous sacrifices to garner her affection. It will take a dark turn when she demands of him the ultimate sacrifice...

Not to be outdone by the stories within, this project demanded a set of jaw-dropping covers by top names to deliver a perfect package to fans. Mirka Andolfo of course contributes one of course for the title she and her team are driving artistically. She's joined by superstars Stjepan Šejic, Jae Lee, and Joseph Michael Linsner. Each of these covers will be available as standard covers, chrome editions, and metal editions, plus fans will have the option to get them signed or CGC graded. And there will be options to get all four covers bundled together for a special collector’s price.

First teased last December, Jonathan Hickman’s sweeping new cosmic epic, IMPERIAL, arrives this June. Known for his influential work on Fantastic Four, Avengers, and X-Men as well as the creation of Marvel’s hit new Ultimate line, the visionary writer will now team up with superstar artists Federico Vicentini and Iban Coello to revolutionize Marvel’s galactic canon in this four-part event series.

Dead bingers are at the center of David Cronenberg‘s new thriller “The Shrouds,” now prepping to launch in North America after debuting at the Cannes Film Festival last summer. Janus Films has released the first full trailer for the film, which stars Vincent Cassel, Diane Kruger, Sandrine Holt and recent Oscar-nominee Guy Pearce.

The filmmaker has imagined another typically probing premise for his 23rd feature, which he conceived after his wife, Carolyn Cronenberg, died from cancer in 2017 at the age of 66. The story follows a tech innovator who is marketing a software that allows clients to watch a feed of their deceased loved ones decomposing in real time. A vandalism attack on his graves, including that of his late wife, unthreads a peculiar, potentially geopolitical conspiracy that draws in his spouse’s sister (Kruger), her ex-husband (Pearce) and his international business affairs.

The trailer for Nisha Ganatra’s “Freakier Friday,” starring Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan, has been unveiled. The film is a sequel to the 2003 comedy “Freaky Friday,” starring Curtis and Lohan as mother-daughter duo Tess and Anna Coleman.

According to a press release from The Walt Disney Company, the sequel features a “multigenerational twist,” with the film picking up many years after Tess and Anna originally swapped bodies. Anna has a daughter of her own, plus a soon-to-be stepdaughter. Tess and Anna navigate the challenges that come with merging two families and “discover that lightning might indeed strike twice.” The trailer reveals that this time it’s a four-way body swap as Anna, Tess and Anna’s daughter and step-daughter all wake up in different bodies.

Joining Curtis and Lohan are returning stars Chad Michael Murray, Mark Harmon, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Lucille Soong, Stephen Tobolowsky and Rosalind Chao. “The Acolyte” star Manny Jacinto, “Never Have I Ever” breakout Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Sophia Hammons and Julia Butters have joined the sequel.

Jason Ritter is set for a key recurring role in Lanterns, HBO’s drama series based on the Green Lantern DC comic. He joins leads Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre and series regular Kelly MacDonald.

The series, from Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof and Tom King, follows new recruit John Stewart (Pierre) and Lantern legend Hal Jordan (Chandler), two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark, Earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland.

Ritter will play Billy Macon, a good-looking charmer who does his father’s (Garret Dillahunt) bidding. Capitalizing on his family’s reputation, he clings to his small-town ego and has everything to lose. (via Deadline)

Kate Beckinsale (Underworld) and Lewis Tan (Mortal Kombat) are underway in the UK on under-the-radar action-thriller Lioness.

Capstone is financing the film about an ex-black ops team who reunite to pull off a desperate heist to save the life of their leader’s (Beckinsale) eight-year-old daughter. Also starring are Rasmus Hardiker, Alice Krige, Bailey Patrick, Tom Bennett, Matt Willis and Roxy Striar.

James Nunn (One Shot) directs from Dominic Burns’ (Madness In The Method) script. Producing are Fall and 47 Meters Down duo James Harris and Mark Lane, Dominic Burns, and Crawford Anderson Dillon. Christian Mercuri is executive producer. Capstone handles world sales. (via Deadline)

Moana 2 has made a spectacular splash at the box office, sailing past $1 billion worldwide and becoming the third highest-grossing film of 2024. This impressive performance virtually guarantees that Disney will greenlight a third installment in the franchise, especially considering how the sequel deliberately sets up future adventures.

While the House of Mouse hasn’t officially announced Moana 3, the mid-credits scene for Moana 2 clearly establishes that the journey of the Wayfinder of Motunui is far from complete. With Moana (voiced by Auli’i Cravalho) now possessing demigod powers and new threats emerging on the horizon, a third adventure seems inevitable.

While Disney hasn’t announced an official timeline for any coming Moana 3, the eight-year gap between the original Moana (2016) and Moana 2 (2024) is unlikely to be repeated. Moana 2 was originally developed as a Disney+ series before being reworked into a theatrical feature, which partially explains the extended development time.

Considering the sequel’s massive commercial success, Disney will likely want to capitalize on the renewed interest in the franchise.

In addition, the fact that Moana 2 has a somewhat open ending means that the creatives behind the sequel have already planned where the story should go next, which will speed up the script. (via ComicBook.com)

Paradise City Sales (rebranded from Memento International) has closed more deals for “The Ugly Stepsister,” Emilie Blichfeldt’s Cinderella-inspired horror film that premiered at Sundance and turned out to be one of the festival’s buzziest titles.

Previously acquired in a raft of territories, including North America, the U.K. and Australia/New Zealand with Shudder, “The Ugly Stepsister” was acquired for Benelux and Turkey (Mubi), Italy (I Wonder Pictures), Greece (The Film Group), Ex- Yugoslavia (Discovery Films), Czech Republic and Slovakia (Bionaut / Zero Gravity), Ukraine (Svoekino), Bulgaria (Beta Film), South Korea (Happy Song), Taiwan (Filmware International), Singapore (Shaw Organisation), Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar and Laos (EST N8) and Africa (What the Hero Wants). Paradise City Sales, whose team is led by Alexandre Moreau, is in negotiations to close the Middle East and India.

A third Marvel Studios Special Presentation will debut on Disney+ after new information from Marvel went public.

Outside of theatrical movies and episodic Disney+ shows, Marvel Studios has also utilized the Special Presentation format on rare occasions since the start of Phase 4. These entries have typically been about an hour long and exclusively released on Disney+, centering on MCU newcomers and veterans.

During the Daredevil: Born Again promo tour, Marvel Television head Brad Winderbaum confirmed that Jon Bernthal's Punisher is in line to get his own Marvel Studios Special Presentation. This will mark the second piece in Bernthal's return to the MCU after first appearing as Frank Castle in Born Again Season 1.

While fans have not seen the Punisher since Season 2 of his solo Netflix series in 2019, Born Again is the start of a new extended run for the antihero in the MCU. He is set to be a major player alongside Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio.

Moving forward, along with his solo entry, many hope he will be a part of the already-confirmed Born Again Season 2.

Marvel Studios started the Special Presentation format with Werewolf by Night in 2022, featuring Gael Garcia Bernal in the titular role and longtime MCU composer Michael Giacchino as the director. Released for Halloween, this became the first in a new line of horror projects developed for Marvel Studios. The second Special Presentation was The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special.
