VILLENEUVE RESPONDS TO TARANTINO'S DUNE COMMENTS11/09/24 @ 1:29 pm EST
Source: Deadline | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a CommentTalking on his own podcast a few weeks back, director
Quentin Tarantino said he had no interest in watching
Denis Villeneuve’s Dune adaptations and used them as an example of Hollywood’s constant remaking of films to mitigate financial risk. “I saw [David Lynch’s original adaptation of] ‘Dune’ a couple of times. I don’t need to see that story again. I don’t need to see spice worms. I don’t need to see a movie that says the word ‘spice’ so dramatically.” Well, it turns out that Villeneuve is unfazed by critics of his work, especially those who haven’t seen it. He told the
Montreal Gazette, “I don’t care. It’s true. I agree with him that I don’t like this idea of recycling and bringing back old ideas. But where I disagree is that what I did was not a remake. It’s an adaptation of the book. I see this as an original.” Villeneuve has a good point at what is considered a remake as opposed to a new adaptation. If the source material began existence as a movie, then you are remaking it. But if the source material is a novel or comic and you return to that material to create a new film… you are doing a new adaptation of that work. The films
I Am Legend (2007),
The Omega Man (1971) and
The Last Man on Earth (1964) are all based on the novel
I Am Legend by
Richard Matheson, but none are considered remakes of the others.
NICHOLAS HOULT TALKS THE EMOTIONAL BLOWS OF BATMAN AND SUPERMAN11/09/24 @ 12:25 pm EST
Source: Happy Sad Confused Podcast | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a CommentCould you imagine getting the opportunity to audition for both Batman and Superman and not getting either part? That’s what
Nicholas Hoult went through before being cast as Lex Luthor in the upcoming
Superman movie. Hoult, who played Hank McCoy in the later
X-Men films was a schedule to audition for
Matt Reeves film when, “I remember a week before we did the Batman test, I was driving in my car and I had the radio on and they were talking on the radio about how Rob was going to be the new Batman. And I was like, ‘It’s not confirmed yet! I’m auditioning next weekend. Like, give me a chance.’” Hoult talked about the emotional experience while a guest on the
Happy Sad Confused podcast. “Your imagination does not know … you are aware on a practical level: ‘I know I am auditioning against Rob.’ And Rob is fantastic in that movie. That was the right decision. But you get excited by the prospect. Matt [Reeves] is a fantastic director and the script. It’s a cool movie and I want to be a part of it. It’s a brilliant character. There’s a weird period before you can get to the acceptance and see the movie and be like that was the right choice, you go through the period of ‘what could I have done different? Why not me?’ You run through all those things.” Hoult would then audition for and lose out on the role of Superman for James Gunn, but Gunn was aware of the situation. Hoult explained, “James Gunn is such a fantastic director and I was so excited by what he was building at DC. When we spoke…because they knew I had been through [the Batman] process, they didn’t want me to necessarily have to go through that again. That was very kind of them. There was an element of them being like, ‘We like you as an actor. We want you to be in this world.’”
NO, HBO IS NOT DEVELOPING A JOKER SERIES11/09/24 @ 12:05 pm EST
Source: Threads | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a CommentWith the buzz about
The Penguin going strong leading into the finale, scoopers are posting a lot of tidbits about
The Batman 2 and other potential spinoff series in the works. But you should take those posts with a truckload of salt as the majority of them are just clickbait. Ina recent interview, Penguin star
Colin Farrell said that he knew nothing about
the Batman sequel and the only definitive word on him appearing at all in it came from director/writer
Matt Reeves who said that
the Penguin series will lead right into the sequel and that Oz Cobb will be in it. Nothing about how much or if he’s the big bad. And while Reeves recently said there are talks about other series they can do with HBO/Max, nothing official has been announced. A new rumor floating around the last few days claims that
Barry Keoghan lead Joker series was in the works and that he would be the main villain for a third Batman film. Keoghan appeared briefly in The Batman as the Joker though the majority of his scenes were cut, he is the voice trying to befriend the Riddler at the end of the film. Keoghan has also said he knows nothing of the plans for his character and co-head of DC Studios,
James Gunn, just took to social media to debunk the rumor all together saying definitively that there is no Joker series in the works.

GET A TASTE OF 'LOVESICK' WORLD IN NEW SONG, VIDEO BY NIIS11/08/24 @ 1:41 pm EST
Source: Image Comics | Categories: Image Comics | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a CommentLuana Vecchio, the award-winning creator of erotic horror series
Lovesick, and popular punk band NIIS have teamed up to give fans a taste of dominatrix
Domino’s twisted world in a new song and music video inspired by the series. Directed by Meriel O’Connell and starring NIIS lead singer Mimi Doe, the music video for “Lovesick” features Doe as a seductive yet terrifying dominatrix, alluding to Mother Demon Domino, luring in her prey. Domino’s origins will soon be explored in Vecchio’s new miniseries
Doll Parts: A Lovesick Tale, part coming-of-age and part horror-thriller, kicking off this December. A new sneak peek of the first issue, shown below, reveals how the tale begins.
In
Lovesick, dark web subscribers pay a high price to be maimed, tortured, and killed by ruthless and irresistible dominatrix Domino. This is what they call “love” in the Lovesick Club. But as Domino faces emerging threats and mounting pressure from a needy audience, what price will she have to pay for success in this literally cutthroat world? And what will she have to become to survive? Vecchio invites you into a digital underworld of cannibalism and bloody neon to explore the limits of consent, love, and idolatry in one of the most erotic and extreme stories in recent years.
"One of the things I love most about art is how creating it inspires others to create more,” said Vecchio. “It’s incredibly beautiful and, in a way, so romantic. That’s exactly what I thought when Mimi sent me the demo of ‘Lovesick.’ I was amazed that someone on the other side of the world could create something that captured the essence of my work so perfectly. NIIS’ ‘Lovesick’ is bold and addictive, just like the world of my comic.
As I listened, I could imagine each scene vividly coming to life. When I wrote Domino, I envisioned her as a natural performer who loves to dance and sing; I had a clear sense of her voice, sweet like a mother’s yet sharp as a demon’s. I’m almost spooked by how perfectly Mimi captured her, as if she read my mind. I was blown away by the quality of NIIS’ music video. Everything is so perfectly done! I love how the visuals echo
Lovesick’s style while the band still told their own story. Hats off to everyone involved—I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve watched it!"
“When we were writing the song ‘Lovesick,’ my guitarist started kicking around a dark riff,” said Doe. “I hadn't found the words to put on it yet. Actually, I wasn't really feeling inspired until that night. I was laying in bed with my boyfriend and he asked if I wanted to read together. He pulled out
Lovesick and I immediately was awestruck. I couldn't get enough of Domino. She was so beautiful, strong, scary, and so fragile at the same time. Domino's character conveyed so much power to her audience, and the fragility and incompleteness spoke to me so much. I kept getting lost in her character amongst everything else going on in the comic. ‘I would never let you shatter me’ continues throughout the song because I truly feel as if no one could shatter Domino, except maybe herself.”
Continued Doe: “For the music video, Meriel O'Connell directed it and she was so amazing. I explained to her how much the comic meant to me and how I really wanted to incorporate Domino's character into the story. She really went above and beyond, and took it and ran. I’m grateful I got to live in a world where I was my version of Domino for a second. I just can't wait for Luana's next chapter.”
Vecchio’s next venture into the
Lovesick world, the upcoming
Doll Parts: A Lovesick Tale miniseries, sheds the latex to reveal the haunting and tragic story of what first led Domino down her dark path. The new four-part miniseries, set in the 2000s, is a must-read for both seasoned fans and newcomers to the disturbed universe of
Lovesick. It follows a twelve-year-old girl called Madeleine who dreads the idea of growing up. She fears becoming like the cruel older girls or facing the contempt of her devoutly religious mother. But most of all, she doesn’t want to become a target for the monsters that are out there, hiding in plain sight. However, a stomach-churning discovery forces Madeleine to confront the harsh reality that growing up isn’t a choice—it’s survival. As she is thrust into a world of perverted killers and unsavory websites, she has to come to terms with her own dark obsessions.
Added Vecchio about the upcoming
Doll Parts: A Lovesick Tale miniseries: “Since
Lovesick was released, both Domino and I have received so much love. This support inspired me to write
Doll Parts: A Lovesick Tale, the prequel that tells Domino’s teenage story. I feel that female adolescence isn’t explored enough—at least, not in the way I’d like. Growing up as a girl can truly be a terrifying experience: getting unwanted attention, dealing with a changing body, and discovering love and sexuality. For some of us, these can be real-life horror experiences. That’s why I’m so proud of this prequel; I feel I’ve told this story with the freedom, honesty, and sensitivity it deserves. I love how, with Image Comics, I truly feel free to express both my creativity and my worldview, finally bringing a female experience to comics that is still too rarely explored."
The music video for NIIS’s “Lovesick” is now
live on YouTube and the song is now available to purchase or stream.

RYAN REYNOLDS SAYS MARVEL EXECS ARE “OBSESSED” WITH CHANNING TATUM’S GAMBIT11/07/24 @ 9:30 pm EST
Source: Deadline | Categories: Marvel | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a CommentAfter nearly 20 years, Channing Tatum might finally get his solo Marvel outing, thanks to a little help from pal Ryan Reynolds.
Following Tatum’s appearance as Gambit in
Deadpool & Wolverine, Reynolds teased that Marvel executives are “obsessed” with the performance and he has “hope” for Gambit’s onscreen future.
“I honestly don’t know what goes on behind closed doors in the bookkeeping sessions at Marvel, but I do know that they’re obsessed with him in that role,” he said on
Entertainment Weekly‘s
Awardist podcast. “It’s kind of like the same situation I went through. Once you show that it works well, that’s really what they need. Sometimes they just need to see it in action.”
Tatum was meant to play Gambit in
X-Men: The Last Stand (2006), but the character didn’t make it into the film. Due to a scheduling conflict for Tatum, Taylor Kitsch played Gambit in
X-Men Origins: Wolverine, which also featured Reynolds’ debut as Deadpool.
For the past decade, Tatum has been attached to a potential solo outing, which has bounced around among multiple directors. (via Deadline)
'THE BATMAN': BARRY KEOGHAN’S JOKER RUMORED FOR NEW MOVIE AND SERIES11/07/24 @ 9:18 pm EST
Source: ComicBook | Categories: DC | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a CommentBarry Keoghan’s Joker may get the last laugh in
The Batman trilogy. After the actor made a cameo in 2022’s
The Batman movie — and a five-minute deleted scene that was eventually released online — director Matt Reeves insisted that the brief cameo wasn’t setting up
The Batman Part II.
“It’s not an Easter egg scene,” Reeves explained in a 2022 interview. “It’s not one of those end credits Marvel or DC scenes where it’s going, like, ‘Hey, here’s the next movie!’ In fact, I have no idea when or if we would return to that character in the movies.”
According to a report in the Marvelvision podcast, the Joker isn’t in
The Batman Part II, but will instead be the main villain in
The Batman Part III. The report claims that Keoghan will first reappear in a spinoff series. In the way that
Penguin is the bridge between
The Batman and
The Batman Part II, this rumored series would link the next two films.
Warner Bros. Pictures has dated
The Batman Part II for October 2, 2026. (via ComicBook.com)
