Netflix Binging Battlestar Galactica - Battlestar Galactica Tv Show Logo Clipart (#4029630) - PikPng

Streaming services have changed the expectations of audiences when it comes to how we consume storylines, as a number of streamers debut an entire season's worth of episodes all at once, as traditional TV networks typically only release one episode at a time. Battlestar Galactica is a beloved piece of sci-fi lore that is associated with tackling ambitious themes, with the upcoming reboot of the concept from Mr. Robot creator Sam Esmail turning both narrative expectations and release expectations on their heads, as he detailed that the new project is considering an erratic release strategy that would experiment with non-linear storytelling.

“When I spoke to Peacock about it, and Mike Lesslie who’s an amazing writer – he’s the one who’s showrunning and writing the pilot – the one thing we got excited by is do we release an episode a week, [release all at once]?" Esmail shared with Collider. "For me, it was like, let’s get in there and tell the right story and it will tell us how many episodes. We may dump three episodes in a row because it’s a three-episode-long battle sequence that needs to be dropped in a row even though they’re three signifying chapters, and maybe each chapter is switching a point of view within that battle sequence. There may be a 20-minute episode that’s the backstory of one of the characters that gets dropped right after that.”

He added, “So we’re gonna really experiment with form on this one because Battlestar, again, given the rich mythology that’s in there already, we want to hit every nook and cranny and because of the format, because of Peacock and streaming – and they’ve been such great partners with us in trying to experiment – we want to get in the writers' room and let the story tell us how it wants to be released.” (via ComicBook)
YOUR FIRST LOOK AT 'DUNE: HOUSE ATREIDES' #4
01/15/21 @ 2:49 pm EST
Source: BOOM! Studios | Categories: MIsc | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a Comment

BOOM! Studios today revealed a first look at DUNE: HOUSE ATREIDES #4, adapted & scripted by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson, who co-wrote the eponymous prequel novel based on Frank Herbert’s notes and illustrated by artist Dev Pramanik (Paradiso), colorist Alex Guimarães (Buffy: Every Generation) and letterer Ed Dukeshire (Once & Future), in partnership with Herbert Properties LLC and in full coordination with Abrams ComicArts, who published the first of three graphic novel adaptations of Herbert’s original classic novel DUNE in Fall 2020.

Leto Atreides has discovered the horrifying truth behind Ix’s success, calling House Vernius’ true nature into question and possibly spelling the House’s demise. The Harkonnens’ deadly influence continues to spread, forcing Duncan Idaho to take drastic measures; Reverend Mother Gaius Mohiam to play her trump card with the Baron. Pardot Kynes forms an alliance with the Freman that will change the course of Dune's history. Meanwhile, Crown Prince Shaddam and Hasimir Fenring continue unraveling their plot to oust the Emperor Elrood...

Created by visionary writer Frank Herbert, Dune debuted in 1965, has sold millions of copies and is arguably the most admired science fiction novel of all time. After winning the Hugo Award and inaugural Nebula Award, Dune inspired a best-selling novel series and led to multiple live-action adaptations, including the upcoming feature film from Legendary Pictures. The influence of Dune extends well beyond the world of entertainment, with an incalculable influence on modern scientific thinking about politics, religion, outer space, environmentalism and more.

The DUNE: HOUSE ATREIDES limited series is published in coordination with Abrams ComicArts, who will release a graphic novel trilogy adapting Frank Herbert’s original novel Dune, with volume one published on November 24, 2020. The Dune graphic novels from ComicArts are also adapted and scripted by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson, and will be illustrated by Raúl Allén and Patricia Martín, and feature covers by Bill Sienkiewicz.

DUNE: HOUSE ATREIDES is the newest release from BOOM! Studios’ eponymous imprint, home to critically acclaimed original series, including BRZRKR by Keanu Reeves, Matt Kindt, and Ron Garney; We Only Find Them When They’re Dead by Al Ewing and Simone Di Meo; Seven Secrets by Tom Taylor and Daniele Di Nicuolo; Something is Killing the Children by James Tynion IV and Werther Dell’Edera; Faithless by Brian Azzarello and Maria Llovet; and Abbott by Saladin Ahmed and Sami Kivelä. The imprint also publishes popular licensed properties including Buffy the Vampire Slayer from Jordie Bellaire and David López, Firefly from Greg Pak, Lalit Kumar Sharma & Daniel Bayliss, and the Mighty Morphin and Power Rangers series from Ryan Parrott, Marco Renna, and Francesco Mortarino.

DUNE: HOUSE ATREIDES #4 features main cover art by Lorenzo De Felici (Oblivion Song) and variant cover art by Mike Del Mundo (Avengers).

Print copies of DUNE: HOUSE ATREIDES #4 will be available on January 27, 2021 at local comic book shops (use comicshoplocator.com to find the nearest one), or at the BOOM! Studios webstore. Digital copies can be purchased from content providers like comiXology, iBooks, Google Play, and Madefire.

DUNE: HOUSE ATREIDES #4 features main cover art by Lorenzo De Felici (Oblivion Song) and variant cover art by Mike Del Mundo (Avengers).
'TINTIN' COMIC BOOK ART BREAKS AUCTION RECORD AT $3.1 MILLION

Rare Tintin comic book art set to sell for millions in Paris CP24.com

A Tintin drawing by the Belgian artist Herge has sold in Paris, France, for 2.6 million euros ($3.1 million), breaking the record for the most expensive comic book art in history.

The 1936 work in Chinese ink, gouache and watercolor was destined as a cover for The Blue Lotus, the fifth volume of the adventures of Tintin, a young reporter created by Herge.

The work features a red dragon on a black background by the frightened character's face. It never graced store shelves because it was deemed too expensive to reproduce on a wide scale, a victim of the artist's craftsmanship.

In Blue Lotus, Tintin travels to China during the 1931 Japanese invasion with his dog, Snowy, to investigate and expose Japanese spy networks, drug-smuggling rings and other crimes.

The record price set at the sale organized by the Artcurial auction house did not include auction fees. Work by Hergé, whose real name was Georges Remi, previously set the record for the most expensive pieces of comic book art with the front pages of Tintin comic books that also sold for 2.6 million euros, including auction fees. ‘BATMAN: THE DARK KNIGHT’ BY TOM TAYLOR AND ANDY KUBERT DEBUTS APRIL 13
01/15/21 @ 9:25 am EST
Source: DC Comics | Categories: DC | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a Comment

New Bat-Villains! New Bat-Allies! A thrilling overseas adventure for the Dark Knight begins with the launch of DC’s Batman: The Dark Knight on April 13! Batman: The Dark Knight will take a seasoned Batman—a lifetime of broken bones but not a broken spirit—out of Wayne Manor and on a harrowing, action-packed European quest in a new six-issue miniseries with superstar creators Tom Taylor (DCeased, Suicide Squad) and Andy Kubert (Batman: The Dark Knight-The Master Race, Superman: Up in the Sky) at the helm! DC’s Dark Knight returns this April!

“I will leap at any chance to tell a Batman story at any time,” said Taylor, “but teaming up with a legend like Andy Kubert for a Batman tale is a dream and an honor. I have Andy's Dark Knight statue sitting on my desk, so I can see exactly how his Batman is larger than life.”

“This series is a different take on the character than I had done before,” said Kubert. “Every story that I have done with Batman has been different in tone, and the art takes on a life of its own as the story dictates. Batman and Son, Whatever Happened to the Caped Crusader and Dark Knight III-The Master Race along with Flashpoint Batman, had their own look and feel for that particular story. Batman: The Dark Knight is no different.”

But how does this Batman story begin? A horrific tragedy in the United Kingdom sends a very personal and deadly message to the Dark Knight—one that will draw Batman out of Gotham City to investigate! From the moment he lands in Europe, Batman will face a challenging investigation, unheard-of adversaries, and find the assistance of a partner once more—all in the hunt for the villain known as Equilibrium! And what does “BATMAN 147” mean to Bruce Wayne when it appears after a deadly plane crash—is it a clue, or a riddle? Or just another trap for the Batman?

“When editor Ben Abernathy and Andy came to me with an idea for a world-weary Batman leaving Gotham for Europe,” continued Taylor, “I immediately thought of the great stories I'd read of an older, cynical Batman. But the challenge was finding the call to adventure for a Batman who's a little more jaded. Fortunately, I already had something up my sleeve. I actually pitched a Batman idea to Ben Abernathy all the way back in 2012 and, nine years later, we were able to find a place for this in Batman: The Dark Knight. The idea was about taking something away from Batman that no one's ever tried to take before. And from that, a new, unique Batman villain was born. It's all about Equilibrium.”

“When Ben and I had discussed making this Batman larger than life, we knew we had to have a writer that could deliver that type of story,” said Kubert. “Tom Taylor has proven himself, especially with DCeased and Suicide Squad, that he was it. What he has crafted here will be a story for the ages.”

And who is Batman’s new partner? All signs point to Knight or Squire (from the pages of Batman Incorporated) to help Batman crack this case, but who are the people behind these aliases, and how much will an aging Bruce Wayne be able to help them with cracked ribs, or a dislocated shoulder, or the pain associated with being Batman in the first place? When will enough be enough for the Dark Knight?

“Andy's Batman never skipped leg day,” concluded Taylor “His legs are like tree trunks. He's a bit older, he's a little slower, but he's efficient. He's muscle and bulk and power and he moves like a battering ram. He interacts a little like a battering ram too. He's singularly focused. He has a mission, and he won't be pushed off track by hordes of attackers…or even Andy's terrifying Gentleman Ghost. While this is about an older Dark Knight, we also had an opportunity to flashback to his past, to see a younger Bruce Wayne in training in a way never expanded on before.”

"Batman: The Dark Knight's Batman is hardened and thick," added Kubert. "The years and battles have caught up with him. As he walks, you can hear him creak like an old rusted gate that needs to be oiled. And Tom writes it all so perfectly."

DC’s Batman: The  Dark  Knight  #1 (of 6), written by Tom Taylor with art, cover and card stock variant cover by Andy Kubert and Brad Anderson, along with a 1:25 card stock variant cover by Riccardo Federici, arrives on April 13 with an extra-sized 26-page debut story!

Jen and Nick-Book - The Comic Shopping Experience

2020 was a turning point for commerce, with unprecedented challenges for brick-and-mortar business, but a tipping point for innovation. The Comic Book Shopping Experience represents a bright idea for the future of the comic book and collectible market borrowing from the past; marrying shopping with entertainment, offering comic book fans an immersive experience, with multi-platform programming, and bringing ongoing attention to the industry we all love!

The Comic Book Shopping Experience pools the collective expertise of three thought leaders of the comics and collectibles industry to create a viable new platform for sales and promotion of comics, graphic novels, collectibles and gaming, all while promoting the comics retail community.

Jen King is an Eisner nominated retailer with a heavy focus on community and content, centered around her 5,000 square foot Space Cadets Collection Collection retail store near Houston, TX. King conceived the Plan C Distribution group on Facebook in early 2020, which has grown into a vibrant community where creators promote everything from work at major publishers, self-published and crowdfunded series, with participation from representatives from all of the major publishers, allowing for direct communication with retailers. She is the co-founder of the Comic Book Shopping Network with Jesse James of Jess James Comics in Glendale, AZ, who will serve as a partner in this new venture as well in an advisory role.

King says “My sincere and fervent desire is to have The Comic Book Shopping Experience point directly back to Local Comic Shops, and give viewers the excitement and information they need when they arrive there, and to grow the market by reaching out to folks that have not yet been exposed to the awesome creativity that comics represent and what they have inspired in the entertainment industry.”

Jesse James adds “We are in a time of innovation and pivoting constantly in the comic book industry. The Comic Book Shopping Experience allows us to provide both entertainment and a plethora of product to customers around the world daily. There will be no better place to get your Comic Book Therapy than The Comic Book Shopping Experience, with all parts of the industry and pop culture at your fingertips.”

Nick Barrucci has been a force in the collectibles market for close to 30 years through signed and exclusive variants and other products offered through Dynamic Forces and Diamond Premiere Publisher Dynamite Entertainment, with equivalent experience with TV shopping networks, including regular appearances on QVC and Home Shopping Network worldwide including the UK, Canada, Germany in addition to the US.

“The comics industry has been part of my life for 39 years. I love it almost as much as family, friends, and life itself, with many people in the industry are like family as well as some of my closest friends” says Barrucci. “This has been a challenging year, but with challenges, there are those who strive to get past them. Many in the industry showed how strong they could be in the face of adversity. I was impressed with what Jen and Jesse were doing and how they were reaching their fans and customers with the Comic Book Shopping Network. We’ve been discussing internally and working on new initiatives for the industry, but when Jen and Jesse approached me with the idea of working together on something new, we discussed what it would mean. Can we do something that no one else has done on a grand scale? Can we create an initiative that supports the industry, retailers, creators and publishers and bring entertainment to the fans? Can we create an initiative that drives the billions of dollars a year generated with Comic Book Movies, TV Series, action figures, PJ’s and other merchandise and help direct those consumers to the comic stores? The more we talked, the more we knew we are like minded in agreeing that if we were to do this, it would help to grow the industry, and the idea for the Comic Book Shopping Experience was born. The stability and growth of the industry is the most important part of this initiative. When I sell on TV Shopping, I make it a point to talk about the importance of comics and Direct Market stores and promoted the industry by asking fans to visit their local comic store. Because nothing is more important than promoting as many titles and comic related projects in the industry as possible and the retailers who carry them.”

The Comic Book Shopping Experience enlists Kyle Northrop as Executive Producer and launches with its initial slate of programming on Saturday January 16th, hosting a weekend long virtual convention experience through Monday January 18th. The first day of programing will begin Tuesday evening January 19th. The Comic Book Shopping Experience offers opportunities for participation from retailers, creators, content creators, podcasters, brands, and more.
PERE PÈREZ PUTS A NEW SPIN ON A CLASSIC IN 'SPIDER-WOMAN' #11
01/15/21 @ 8:46 am EST
Source: Marvel | Categories: Marvel | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a Comment

Yesterday, Marvel Comics announced the return of one of the most beloved costumes in comics: Marie Severin’s original design for Spider-Woman from her first appearance in 1977’s Marvel Spotlight #32. Over the years, Spider-Woman’s iconic digs have been reimagined, and now current SPIDER-WOMAN artist Pere Pérez presents his own unique take on this timeless design. Seen on his new variant cover for SPIDER-WOMAN’s #11, Jessica Drew has never looked better. Incorporating a modern twist on the classic suit, Pérez’s design is a perfect look for the hero’s redefining new era.

Praised for delivering both the action-packed fight sequences and the chaotic family drama that Jessica Drew fans crave, Pérez recently signed on as an exclusive artist with Marvel Comics. Here’s what he had to say about working with Karla Pacheco and bringing Spider-Woman’s current adventures to life:

"I’m very happy about my exclusive with Marvel. Since I began working here I've had nothing but fun, good working experiences, and the chance to work with some of my favorite characters. Working with this team of editors and creators working on Spider-Woman is probably the best working experience in my career. The editors are not only giving us a huge amount of creative freedom, but also encouraging us to push things further. I can’t say anything but good things about the immensely talented Karla Pacheco and Frankie D’Armata. I’ll just say I am very lucky to be a part of this team.

“One thing I’ve been wanting to do for some time now has been adding my personal touch to a Marvel character, which I’ve been able to do now with this classic Spider-Woman costume update. It feels great to be a part of the legacy of creators who help shape the characters all of us love and enjoy.

“Aside from what you can see as the costume redesign, we have also included several surprise functional modifications that will also help to give a new fresh twist to Jessica Drew’s heroic abilities. Hopefully we are keeping the classic spirit of the character and also making the readers enjoy her adventures in a way they haven’t before.”

Check out Perez’s variant cover below, an exclusive look at interior artwork, and his design sheet for Jessica’s new suit. Deadly new enemies have their sights on Spider-Woman. Will she be up to the challenge? Find out when SPIDER-WOMAN #11 hits stands in April.

CHRIS EVANS SAYS HIS REPORTED RETURN AS CAPTAIN AMERICA IS "NEWS TO ME"

Chris Evans as Captain America in 'Avengers: Age of Ultron'.

Chris Evans seems to be pumping the brakes on a Thursday report that he might be reprising his iconic role as Captain America.

Headlines circulated yesterday that the actor was in talks to appear in an upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film as Cap one more time even though it appeared his time in the role had come to a conclusion with Avengers: Endgame.

Not typically cagey about his work in the role, Evans tweeted simply "News to me," which most assumed was his comment on the reports he was coming back.

In 2018, Evans seemed to close the door on ever playing Cap again when he tweeted, "Officially wrapped on Avengers 4. It was an emotional day to say the least. Playing this role over the last 8 years has been an honor. To everyone in front of the camera, behind the camera, and in the audience, thank you for the memories! Eternally grateful." (via THR)
