CLOCK STRIKES THE WITCHING HOUR IN SEASON 2 OF 'NIGHTS'11/27/24 @ 7:32 pm EST
Source: Image Comics | Categories: Image Comics | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a CommentThe clock strikes the witching hour in Season Two of the critically acclaimed supernatural series
Nights, with a new upcoming arc of the ongoing comic book series that travels back in time to 1970s Las Vegas to explore the criminal origins of fan-favorite vampire girl Gray and her charismatic witch ex, Erik. Beloved co-creators Wyatt Kennedy and Luigi Formisano and series editor Alana Fox are returning to the fantasy-horror series to pack a bloodier punch and plunge deeper into the darkness in this time-traveling storyline that is both a great jumping on point for new readers and a treat for longtime fans. Launching in February 2025, Season Two will also present a new otherworldly antagonist, Moriel, and reveal the aftermath of the shocking events in the upcoming Season One finale issue,
Nights #12, hitting shelves this January. Fans of anime like Studio Ghibli films will love this animation-influenced urban gothic series with equal measure of blood, heart, and humor.
In
Nights, supernatural creatures casually exist amongst humans, and America is made up of 31 states. Vince Okonma has lost his parents, moved in with his secret mercenary cousin and his video game-making roommate, and befriended "the greatest vampire who's ever lived." And that’s just the beginning. The road to the Season One finale has been full of shocking twists and turns, but vampire Gray’s destiny is at last revealed in
Nights #12. An old enemy reemerges to deliver unbelievable carnage, and no one is safe. This is the end of everything and the start of something new in an extra-packed issue with massive consequences. Everything comes to a head in a status-quo shifting season finale.
Then, the Season Two launch issue,
Nights #13 will start a brand-new storytelling chapter. Following the events of Season One’s violent finale, we travel back to the 1970s in this new series arc, where rookie CHIMERA agent Tsukumari investigates the rise of dangerous magical oddities and artifacts from the blistering cold of Estonia to the boiling decadence of Las Vegas. This journey will lead him on a collision course with a younger Gray, with an effect that will have ripple effects across decades. A dark path lies ahead in Season Two.
"The plan with
Nights has always been to explore different storytelling styles, genres, and tone from season to season, and whereas Season One had a breezy, episodic structure, Season Two will be a hard serialized drama,” said Kennedy. “The stakes are higher—we're going darker, gorier, rougher, and most importantly, we're leaving behind the setting of Season One, Santo Pedro. It's not abandoning the heart and humor that's integral to the series, but this is certainly the darkest chapter of the story thus far."
Continued Kennedy: “We're going to dive into the consequences of Season One’s bloodbath and examine the new status quo for our returning cast. I'm excited to properly introduce new characters like the demon conquistador Eda, and Gray's ex-fiancé, the Witch Erik. At the core though, this is still Vince's story about the dysfunctional found family he's been adopted into, and his romance with Gray. And through his lens, we'll see how secrets can tear even the closest of bonds apart."
"Everything’s changing in Season Two, and I'm not pulling any punches,” said Formisano. “Visually, expect
Nights to push boundaries even further. I’m definitely taking a lot of my inspiration from horror directors like Cronenberg, Bava, Fulci, del Toro, and of course mangaka like Junji Ito and Yukinobu Tatsu. Season Two’s concept art and character design will reveal new facets of our lovely characters, uncovering their true natures in ways that might surprise, and even shock, readers. Let’s not fool ourselves, Wyatt and I are two weirdos.
Nights is a weird book. As a result, I want to challenge the readers with a rougher style and a frenetic pacing they won’t find anywhere else. Buckle up, Season Two is about to be wild."
Featuring covers illustrated by Formisano, The Season One finale issue,
Nights #12 (Lunar Code 0824IM402), will be available at
comic book shops on Wednesday, January 15, 2025. The Season Two premiere issue,
Nights #13 (Lunar Code 1224IM238) will be available at comic book shops on Wednesday, February 26, 2025.
Nights is also available across many digital platforms, including Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, and Google Play.
Nights Vol. 1 which collects
Nights #1-6, is now available for purchase at

independent bookstores (ISBN: 9781534397743), Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Books-a-Million, Indigo, and Waterstones, and across many digital platforms.
WILL MILLY ALCOCK APPEAR IN SUPERMAN?01/19/25 @ 10:12 am EST
Source: The Hollywood Reporter | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a CommentIt's been well believed for a while that the early casting of
Milly Alcock to play Kara Zor-El aka Supergirl was so that the character could debut in this year’s
Superman movie. It was also believed that when
James Gunn said that he had shown the
Superman trailer to an unannounced actress in the film who cried while watching it, that many believed he was speaking of Alcock. People even believe they see Alcock’s reflecting in the damaged robot show in the trailer… if the zoomed in really far that is. All of this could be why when
The Hollywood Reporter had their exclusive about
David Krumholtz and
Emily Beecham joining the now filming
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow as Kara’s parents, no one really batted an eye when the article said: “Alcock was picked as Supergirl almost a year ago and will first appear in Gunn’s
Superman movie.
Supergirl gets underway this winter and will shoot in the UK.” Was THR simply stating as fact what everyone has come to expect or was this confirmation of Supergirl returning to the big screen for the first time in over forty years? It would explain why Alcock was cast in the role a year before production on the film began.
DC STUDIOS WORKING ON AN ELESWORLDS OPENING01/19/25 @ 9:33 am EST
Source: Threads | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a CommentDC Studios is working on a logo for the Elseworlds productions that will be different from DC Logo and Fanfare we see at the start of the in-universe projects like
Creature Commandos and the upcoming
Superman. We know this because co-head of the studio,
James Gunn, was asked about it on social media by
Jesse T White, “Hey James, If shows like the Penguin and Harley Quinn are now DC Studios shows… why isn’t the DC Studios logo or fanfare attached to them?” To which Gunn replied, “All DC television & film projects are no under DC Studios. Because Harley Quinn was developed long before us we didn’t think it was fair to put the DC Studio fanfare on there. On Penguin, which we had a small hand in developing, we have a different DC Studios animation at the end. We’re currently working on the DC Studios Elseworlds opening.” Having a different opening is more than just a good idea, it would be a way to let audience know for sure at the start of a project whether what they are about to see is part of the main DCU or a stand-alone story.
MARVEL SNAP GOES DOWN WITH TIKTOK01/19/25 @ 9:22 am EST
Source: Forbes | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a CommentWith the Supreme Court ruling allowing the ban of the social media platform TikTok, the popular site went dark Sunday evening along with their sister site Lemon8. But to many people’s surprise, a popular mobile game, Marvel Snap, was also caught up in the ban. When you try to enter the game there is a message that reads: “Marvel Snap is temporarily unavailable in the U.S. Unfortunately Marvel Snap is temporarily unable on U.S. stores and is unavailable to play in the U.S. This outage is a surprise to us and wasn’t planned. Marvel Snap isn’t going anywhere. We’re actively working on getting the game up as soon as possible and will update you once we have more to share.” Second Diner, the developer of the game were caught by surprise and not warned by their parent company Bytedance. It was believed that Bytedance had divested itself from the TikTok related company Nuverse but apparently not enough and all of Bytedance’s games are being taken off-line.
Ben Brode, Marvel Snaps’ Chief Development Officer, is actually recommending that players use a VPN, which can make it seem like you’re playing from Canada, to get around the ban temporarily. It’s believed that this ban will be temporary having to do with the change of political parties in the White House and the CEO of Bytedance has been invited to the next president’s inauguration on Monday.
WAS THIS THE JEDI WHO FOUND JOD NA NAWOOD?01/18/25 @ 11:32 am EST
Source: Twitter | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a CommentThere have been reports that a flashback scene had been considered and then passed on in the
Star Wars: The Skeleton Crew series that would’ve given us a bit more about the background of Jod Na Nawood (
Jude Law) and the Jedi that found him. The reason the scene was cut had to do with the series being told from the kids’ point of view and a flashback wouldn’t make sense. But we may know at least what the Jedi who found Jod would’ve looked like. Actress Yasmine al Massri has posted on social media photos of herself dressed as a Jedi with the following story: “This was the shortest acting job I have done but the most meaningful to the child in me.. playing a Jedi for one scene in Skeleton Crew.. i gave a speech when i crew wrapped me on set saying : you just created the first Arab female Jedi.. thank you.. the scene unfortunately Didn’t make it to the finale cut bc these things happen.. but I can not not share my experience and feelings.. even Liam rehearsed that scene with me and I got to brag about it with his friends which got me DAVID LYNCH WAS WORKING ON A NETFLIX LIMITED SERIES WHEN HE PASSED01/18/25 @ 11:14 am EST
Source: Instagram | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a CommentAccording to Netflix’s co-CEO
Ted Sarandos, visionary filmmaker
David Lynch was working on a new limited series for the streamer when he passed away this week. In a social media post praising Lynch, Sarandos talked about meeting the celebrated creator early on when Netflix was still a physical media rental company to his most recent interaction, and of the project Lynch had brought to them a while back. “It was a David Lynch production, so filled with mystery and risks but we wanted to go on this creative ride with this genius. First Covid, then some health uncertainties lead to this project never being produced but we made it clear that as soon as he was able, we were all in.” With Lynch’s passing, Sarandos admitted that he will “always wonder about what he had in mind for us with what would have been his last project.”
PARAMOUNT+ NOT MOVING FORWARD WITH A THIRD SEASON OF FRAISER01/18/25 @ 10:49 am EST
Source: Deadline | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a CommentThe return of a classic sitcom appears to have come to an end. Paramount+ has opted not to renew
Fraiser for a third season, though CBS Studios plans to shop the
Kelsey Grammer-led comedy to other outlets. Possibilities include Prime Video and Hulu, where the original series are available for streaming. The two seasons so far just couldn’t make a mark on the streaming service that does well with shows created by
Taylor Sheridan and variations on
Star Trek. It was one of only two original comedies on the platform, the other being
Colin From Accounts which is doing well and under a different model. The character of Fraiser Crane began on
Cheers before getting a spinoff series that ran from 1993 until 2004. This new series focused on Fraiser later in his life, having moved to Boston to try and reconnect with his son Freddy played by
Jack Cutmore-Scott. While the new series featured many new characters, they also brought in familiar faces like Frasier’s ex-wife Lilith played by
Bebe Neuwirth and his ex-co-worker Roz played by
Peri Gilpin. There was an attempt to entice
David Hyde Pierce who played Fraiser’s brother Niles into appearing in the series, but he declined.
'STAR WARS: JEDI KNIGHTS' DEBUTS LONG LOST CHARACTER ATHA PRIME01/17/25 @ 6:54 pm EST
Source: Marvel | Categories: Star Wars Jedi Knights | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a CommentA dark new threat is coming to the galaxy far, far away, but true
Star Wars fans know he’s been around much longer than anyone might expect! Inspired by unused
Return of the Jedi concept art, ATHA PRIME was planned to be the main villain for an unreleased Kenner toy line in the ’80s, one that was intended to continue the success of
Star Wars action figures following the release of the Original Trilogy films. Now, decades later, ATHA PRIME will officially debut in Marvel’s upcoming STAR WARS: JEDI KNIGHTS comic series.
Emmy Award-winning screenwriter and acclaimed
Star Wars comics writer Marc Guggenheim and rising star artist Madibek Musabekov will introduce the character as a mysterious planet’s tyrannical ruler who boldly opposes the Republic and the Jedi Order. Befitting his legacy, ATHA PRIME is spotlighted on John Tyler Christopher’s Action Figure Variant Cover for STAR WARS: JEDI KNIGHT #1 and will also be featured on Ramon Rosanas’ Foil Variant Cover. ATHA PRIME was also previously teased on Rosanas’ “Sneak Preview” variant cover for
Star Wars: Legacy of Vader #1.
“While developing the series, Marc discovered this deep cut—the antagonist from Kenner’s unrealized
The Epic Continues toy line,” Editor Mark Paniccia explained. “We saw the original design and were immediately sold. What a cool character to bring into canon and what a perfect book to do it in!”
Hitting stands on March 5, STAR WARS: JEDI KNIGHTS takes place before
The Phantom Menace and stars legendary Prequel Trilogy icons like Qui-Gon Jinn, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Yoda, and more, including fan-favorite characters and all-new Jedi. Each thrilling issue follows a different Jedi duo on pivotal missions throughout the galaxy, with an overarching threat binding them together. Who is the mysterious new villain targeting Qui-Gon Jinn for death, and how will it force the Jedi Order to evolve for a new age?
“I love the idea that the Jedi are the guardians of peace and justice in the galaxy,” Guggenheim said. “But there are surprisingly few examples of that out there — mainly because the Jedi get sucked into the Clone Wars. I’m as much of a fan of the Clone Wars as the next guy, but I really craved seeing the Jedi doing their thing on a non-war footing. That’s the great appeal of this new Jedi Knights series: We really get a chance to see what the Jedi did before the Clone Wars and their eventual fall.”

‘SUPERGIRL: WOMAN OF TOMORROW’ ADDS DAVID KRUMHOLTZ, EMILY BEECHAM01/17/25 @ 6:47 pm EST
Source: Hollywood Reporter | Categories: DC | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a CommentDavid Krumholtz, who was recently part of the all-star cast of Christopher Nolan’s
Oppenheimer, and British actress Emily Beecham have joined the space-faring cast of
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, which Craig Gillespie is directing for Warner Bros. Discovery arm DC Studios.
The feature, which began shooting this week in DC’s UK production hub of Leavesden, is inspired by the Tom King and Bilquis Evely comic book mini-series and stars
House of the Dragon‘s Milly Alcock playing Kara Zor-El, the cousin of Superman.
It’s unclear how faithful the script by Ana Nogueira is to the comic, which eschewed the traditional good vs. bad tropes and instead was a cosmic character piece, spanning many worlds and alien cultures. The Eisner-nominated 2021 story was told from the perspective of a young alien girl named Ruthye who enlists the aid of Supergirl is a quest of revenge against Krem of the Yellow Hills, the man who killed her father.
Eve Ridley is on the call sheet as Ruthye while Matthias Schoenaerts is Krem. Jason Momoa is due to cameo as alien bounty hunter Lobo.
Krumholtz and Beecham will play Supergirl’s parents. (via THR)
SCORPIUS UNVEILED IN 'THUNDERCATS LOST' #201/17/25 @ 6:35 pm EST
Source: Dynamite | Categories: Thundercats | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a CommentFollowing the hotly anticipated debut issue of
ThunderCats Lost, Dynamite and Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products are excited to debut another exciting new character in the
ThunderCats mythos in the second chapter!
ThunderCats Lost #2 is set to release April 2 and there's no fooling here! The creative team of Ed Brisson (
New Mutants, Predator) and Rapha Lobosco, who started their 'Cats contributions with the Apex special, have cooked up a mysterious new character for fans to get excited about.
"Coming into
ThunderCats: Lost, we were pretty confident with the new cast members that Rapha and I introduced in the first issue (Niko and Ligon), but wanted to make sure that our cats had a formidable foe," said writer Ed Brisson. "For certain, Captain Shiner and his army are a force to be reckoned with, but his right-hand, personal mercenary Scorpius is on a completely different level. A one-man army and hunter who knows the danger that cats present for his world and will stop at nothing to ensure that each and every cat is dead and buried. This murder machine is a threat unlike anything that the ThunderCats have faced before."
The lost Thunderan warriors led by Commander Bengali find themselves crashed behind enemy lines in the kickoff to the series. So far they've managed to evade capture, taking refuge in a nearby town. These lands are firmly under the thumb of Captain Shiner and his forces. The only hope that Bengali and the
Lost crew have for being rescued is if they can break through Shiner's defenses to return to their damaged ship.
Their big problem is that Shiner's mercenary forces are hot on their collective tails, and being led by one of the most fearsome of all foes. The mysterious and ruthless mercenary Scorpius is living his life by one overriding mission: kill every ThunderCat in his path!
The hunt is on, with the ThunderCat killer on the loose!
ThunderCats Lost #2 features covers by Declan Shalvey, Clayton Henry, Meghan Hetrick, Mark Bagley, and Jae Lee.
