DeadlineMARVEL COMICS: DARKNESS REIGNS THIS DECEMBER IN KING IN BLACK08/07/20 @ 5:25 pm EST
reports that Spyglass Media Group has teamed with Atomic Monster’s James Wan and Michael Clear to develop a film based on the 1980s classic action series Knight Rider
. TJ Fixman, a former video game writer, is adapting the screenplay.
Created by Glen A. Larson, Knight Rider
first aired on NBC from 1982-1986 and boosted David Hasselhoff’s career. It’s about a high-tech car named KITT that assists the mysterious crime-fighting driver Michael Knight (Hasselhoff).
The series amassed a significant cult following and spun more TV spinoffs, films, video games, books, and a Knight Rider
convention known as KnightCon.
Plot details for this latest installment are being kept under wraps but reportedly it will be a present-day take that will maintain the anti-establishment tone of the original.

THRYOUR FIRST LOOK AT 'SLAUGHTERHOUSE-FIVE' BY RYAN NORTH AND ALBERT MONTEYS08/07/20 @ 5:16 pm EST
reports that Paramount’s newly-installed motion picture group president Emma Watts is re-assessing the slate. And one title under the microscope? Star Trek
Three different versions of the classic sci-fi adventure are in development at the studio, including one by Quentin Tarantino. Another one seeks to reunite the cast of the reboot made by J.J. Abrams several years ago. And there's a third one being developed by Fargo
TV creator Noah Hawley.
As Watts looks to see what should be a priority, sources tell THR that Hawley’s project is heading to the lower decks. One reason could be due to a plot centering around a virus that wipes out vast parts of the known universe, a topic that is not seen as a good or sensitive fit if you’re making escapist entertainment given the current coronavirus pandemic.
One question facing Trek
now is whether or not Hawley moves on to other movie or TV worlds or will wait to be beamed back.

'THE BOYS': NEW SEASON 2 PHOTOS08/07/20 @ 10:48 am EST
BOOM! Studios today revealed a first look at a brand new graphic novel, SLAUGHTERHOUSE-FIVE. An American classic and one of the world’s seminal anti-war novels, Kurt Vonnegut’s Slaughterhouse-Five is faithfully presented in graphic novel form for the first time by Eisner Award-winning writer Ryan North (How to Invent Everything: A Survival Guide for the Stranded Time Traveler) and Eisner Award-nominated artist Albert Monteys (Universe!), available in stores September 2020.
Listen: Billy Pilgrim has...

...opened a successful optometry business
...built a loving family
...witnessed the firebombing of Dresden

...come unstuck in time.
Billy Pilgrim’s journey is at once a farcical look at the horror and tragedy of war where children are placed on the frontlines and die (so it goes), and a moving examination of what it means to be fallibly human.
Kurt Vonnegut’s black humor, satiric voice, and incomparable imagination first captured America’s attention in The Sirens of Titan in 1959, and established him as “a true artist” (The New York Times) with Cat’s Cradle in 1963. He was, as Graham Greene declared, “one of the best living American writers.” Kurt Vonnegut died in 2007.
SLAUGHTERHOUSE-FIVE is the latest release from BOOM! Studios’ award-winning Archaia imprint, home to inspiring graphic novels such as Big Black: Stand at Attica by Frank “Big Black” Smith, Jared Reinmuth, and Ameziane, Happiness Will Follow by Mike Hawthorne, We Served the People by Emei Burell, The Realist by Asaf Hanuka, Girl on Film by Cecil Castellucci and Vicky Leta, Melissa Duffy, V. Gagnon & Jon Berg, New World by David Jesus Vignolli, About Betty’s Boob by Vero Cazot and Julie Rocheleau, Waves by Ingrid Chabbert and Carole Maurel, The Grand Abyss Hotel by Marcos Prior and David Rubín, and more.
Print copies of SLAUGHTERHOUSE-FIVE will be available for sale on September 9, 2020 at local comic book shops (use comicshoplocator.com to find the one nearest you), September 15, 2020 at bookstores or at the BOOM! Studios webstore. Digital copies can be purchased from content providers, including comiXology, iBooks, Google Play, and Madefire.

'BATMAN' #98: PUNCHLINE VS. HARLEY QUINN, ROUND TWO08/07/20 @ 9:56 am EST
Wildstorm's Gen 13
, which debuted as a massive hit and helped shape the '90s comics marketplace, is coming back into print, at least in part, with a new Deluxe Edition hardcover of much of J. Scott Campbell's run on the series due in 2021. Despite its success -- and bestselling crossovers with Superman, Spider-Man, The Maxx, and others -- Gen 13
has been largely sidelined since DC shuttered the WildStorm imprint around the launch of The New 52 in 2011. Characters from the comic appeared in some New 52 titles, but have since vanished from the DC Universe again, and Gen 13
is not even available digitally.
The new volume, Gen 13: Starting Over
, will reportedly hit store shelves in May of 2021. It will be a reprinting of a previous collected edition released in 2002, but with new trade dress and a new cover.
The new cover, though, won't mark new artwork. It's repurposed from Gen 13
#5 by Campbell and Alex Garner. (via ComicBook

Fresh from last month’s release of Pulp
, their 1930s-set graphic novel from Image Comics, Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips are ready to unveil what might be their most ambitious collaboration to date: a series of three graphic novels to be released across the next year, starting with December’s Reckless
Set in 1980s Los Angeles, Reckless
centers on a private eye called Ethan Reckless who’ll take care of problems … for a price. But his latest case hits too close to home, when a familiar face from his own days as a student radical comes calling for help.
The format of the series beginning with Reckless
may be an unfamiliar one for North American comics readers, with each installment being released as a full-length hardcover graphic novel; Reckless
will run 144 pages. (via THR
will be released by Image Comics digitally and in comic book stores Dec. 16, and in bookstores Dec. 22. The second volume in the series is targeted for an April 2021 release.
