NEW HAWKEYE POSTER FEATURES CLINT, KATE AND LUCKY10/24/21 @ 4:08 pm EST
For those of you that can’t wait for Spider-Man: No Way Home
, director Jon Watts
recently talked to Empire
about his upcoming third time directing the MCU’s favorite Wall-Crawler. “We’re definitely trying to be ambitious. It’s Spider-Man: Endgame.” Actor Tom Holland
loved the idea when it was pitched to him: “Wow, that would be awesome if we could pull it off, but there’s just no way it’s going to work.” But it did, and it was something that popped up in Kevin Feige’s
head when they first talked about bringing Spider-Man into the MCU. “I remember having discussions with Amy Pascal
years ago. ‘Do we want to revisit villains we’ve seen before?’ No, let’s do Vulture, and Mysterio, and characters we haven’t brought to the screen before. But I remember thinking, ‘How would you even do Doc Ock again?’, because Alfred Molina is perfect casting. If you ever brought him back, it would have to be him somehow.” All of it has come together and we’re going to get to see it on December 17th. Below are the two covers Empire has done for the issue and you can see clues to the different villains on each… and isn’t that a fist made of sand?

MATTEL'S UPCOMING BARBIE MOVIE FINDS ITS KEN10/23/21 @ 3:30 am EST
After the dismal opening for the well-loved The Suicide Squad
, it was kind of surprising that Warner Bros. decided to move forward with their “Day & Date” release plan for the Denis Villeneuve
film. But the studio stuck to it and had a better than expected opening this weekend, pulling in $40.1M, easily the best start for a Warner Bros. film both during the pandemic and with the simultaneous release on HBO Max. Outside of the U.S. where the film is theatrical only, the film is doing very well bringing its global box office total to $220.7M. I expect the numbers for the film to continue to do well as the reviews have been extremely good with an 83% fresh ratings by critics and 91% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. Also, the film should have a good second week with it’s biggest competition over the Halloween weekend will be the horror film Antlers
and the drama/horror/mystery/thriller Last Night in Soho
. Rounding out the top 5 weekend box office, Halloween Kills
took in $14.5M, No Time to Die
grabbed another $11.9M, Venom: Let There Be Carnage
continues with another $9.1M and the animated film Ron’s Gone Wrong
pulls in $7.3M on its opening weekend.

DeadlineCHLOE ZHAO DISCUSS FIRST SEX SCENE IN THE MCU10/23/21 @ 3:27 am EST
is exclusively reporting that the upcoming Margot Robbie
film has found its Ken. The report claims that Ryan Gosling
is in final negotiations to play the iconic Mattel character from the doll line in the soon to be made Warner Bros film. Greta Gerwig
is on board to direct and has co-written the script with Noah Baumbach
. Gosling initially turned the role down because of his busy schedule, but between production delays and the studios persistence, the actor became interested when an opening in his schedule appeared. The Oscar-nominated actor has just finished production on The Gray Man
for Netflix with Chris Evans
as his co-star and the Russo Brothers
directing. Insiders believe that with Gerwig’s track record, the story will likely be more than just your typical doll story.

MARVEL AND CHLOE ZHAO WORK TO KEEP ETERNALS FROM BEING CENSORED10/23/21 @ 3:24 am EST
The other controversial thing in the upcoming Eternals
film is that it will feature the first sex scene in the MCU. The brief scene will include two major characters though it hasn’t been revealed which two characters. Director Chloé Zhao
discussed the scene with IndieWire
: "From that moment to what you see on-screen there was definitely a lot of discussion about how to do it. But I think the desire to do something different is a very natural desire for where Marvel Studios is right now. I think it's like Westerns coming into the revisionist period of the '70s. I think it's happening to superhero films -- or at least we're on the edge of that. And so these scenes just started to happen naturally." It’s expected that the scene will be very brief and not explicit, but we know that the scene was already part of the story before Zhao signed on, so Marvel was already heading in this direction. Zhao also said, "For us to be able to show two people who love each other, not just emotionally and intellectually but also physically, and to have a sex scene that will be seen by a lot of people that shows their love and compassion and gentleness -- I think it's a really beautiful thing." The potential characters that could be in the scene might include Sersi (Gemma Chan) and either her former lover Ikaris (Richard Madden) or her new love Dane Whitman (Kit Harrington). Another option would be Phastos (Brian Tyree Henry) and his husband played by Haaz Sleiman. Eternals opens November 5th.

HAYDEN CHRISTENSEN TO APPEAR IN THE AHSOKA SERIES ON DISNEY+10/23/21 @ 3:20 am EST
There is a chance that some of the scenes in the upcoming Marvel film Eternals
could get censored when screened in some countries. The film contains the MCU’s first openly gay hero, Phastos played by Brian Tyree Henry and while some overseas markets have restrictions against showing homesexual content, Marvel Studios and director Chloé Zhao are working hard to prevent that from happening. Zhao told IndieWire
: "I don't know all the details but I do believe discussions were had and there's a big desire from Marvel and myself -- we talked about this -- to not change the cut of the movie. Fingers crossed." She also told the site that Phastos’ being gay was already written into the story prior to her joining the film. She described the character as, "someone who only sees humanity as a whole and believes that technology’s going to solve the problem. Obviously, he lost faith in us for some very tough things that we've done. And then he had to stop looking at us as a whole and look at one person he falls in love with, and one child, to regain the face of humanity. It's like us turning on the news and thinking it's completely hopeless and then going home, looking at our lover and our child and going like, 'Well actually this is worth fighting for.'" Eternals opens on November 5th.

SONY ADDS 2 UNTITLED MARVEL MOVIES TO 2023 SCHEDULE10/23/21 @ 3:16 am EST
We found out earlier in the year that Hayden Christensen
would be returning to play Anakin Skywalker / Darth Vader in the Obi Wan Kenobi
series for Disney+. Well, reports are that that series has wrapped filming, but now THR
is reporting that Christensen will also reprise his role in the upcoming Ahsoka
series that will star Rosario Dawson
. The character of Ahsoka Tano was introduced as a young Padwan to Jedi Knight Anakin in the Star Wars: Clone Wars
animated series. Dave Filoni
, creator of the Clone Wars is the co-creator of The Mandalorian
with Jon Favreau
and they introduced the live-action version of Ahsoka with Dawson in the second season of the series. There are a few teasers given in the episode that lead fans to believe that she would get her own series which Disney confirmed at the Investor Day Presentation back in December of last year. The series is expected to tie up some stories from another Filoni created animated series, Star Wars Rebels and have Ahsoka looking for the missing Ezra Miller and go up against the fan-favorite Chiss military genius Grand Admiral Thrawn. How Christensen’s character will be used remains to be seen.

‘SPINE-TINGLING SPIDER-MAN’ INFINITY COMIC LAUNCHES ON MARVEL UNLIMITED 10/22/21 @ 4:07 pm EST
With the Venom: Let There Be Carnage
end-credit scene, it seemed like things were going to start getting interesting for the Sony/Marvel deal and now we know that Sony has officially added two “Untitled Sony/Marvel Universe” films to the 2023 domestic release schedule. The films are slated to be released June 23, 2023 and October 6th, 2023. Currently Sony has plans for Morbius
which will be out on January 13, 2022, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2
on October 7, 2022, and Kraven the Hunter
on January 13, 2023. Now there is nothing saying that any of those films are being delayed, so these are likely to be films that haven’t yet been announced. Sony has talked about a Sinister Six film more years as well as a film for the character Silk and a combo film for Black Cat and Silver Sable. There is also a mysterious movie to be directed by Olivia Wilde
that is expected to be Spider-Woman
… so there are quite a few options on what the films could be.

MADELYNE PRYOR STEALS THE SPOTLIGHT ON NEW 'HELLIONS' #18 VARIANT COVERS10/22/21 @ 4:11 pm EST
Comic fans can get into the Halloween spirit starting on Tuesday, October 26 when SPINE-TINGLING SPIDER-MAN launches exclusively on Marvel Unlimited.
The all-new Infinity Comic is an 8-part series that will be available on the app every other Tuesday. SPINE-TINGLING SPIDERMAN is written by Eisner Award-winning comic writer Saladin Ahmed (Miles Morales, Magnificent Ms. Marvel)
with art by Juan Ferreyra (Spider-Man Noir, King in Black).
And before readers dive into the story, they can listen to the official theme song for the comic, “Close Your Eyes,” here: https://www.marvel.com/articles/comics/listen-to-the-official-theme-song-of-spine-tingling-spider-man-infinity-comics-series
Spider-Man is used to facing bad guys he can punch, but when a new villain gets in Spidey’s head and starts to squeeze, Spider-Man is about to get very badly hurt. And when a classic villain joins the fray, things go from bad to worse.
“I've been into spooky stuff almost as long as I've been into super heroes. I've been looking to combine the two for a while, and I couldn't ask for a more iconic character to do that with than Peter Parker,” said Ahmed.
As the story centers around Peter going back and forth between dreams and reality, artist and colorist Juan Ferreyra says, “I decided to do the real world in a traditional, super hero comic way. For this, I went with inks and digital coloring. The dream world, on the other hand, has more of a mixed media approach. I used pencils, watercolors, and gouache… so it’s not as sharp and clean. It’s blurrier, like the way dreams feel.”
