PAUL FEIG, UNIVERSAL HATCH NEW MONSTER MOVIE: 'DARK ARMY'09/12/19 @ 4:53 pm EST

Deadline reports that Universal Pictures has just made a deal to develop
Dark Army, a monster movie that Paul Feig will write and direct based on an original idea by the director of
Bridesmaids, Spy, The Heat, Ghostbusters and
A Simple Favor. Feig and Laura Fischer will produce through his Universal-based Feigco Productions.
After
The Mummy underwhelmed, the studio veered from the original ideal of an interconnected universe of star-driven films, and instead is favoring films driven by filmmaker passion that has connective tissue to Uni’s Classic Monsters legacy. That is what is being done with Blumhouse and Leigh Whannell’s upcoming
Invisible Man film starring Elisabeth Moss and it is also driving Feig’s project.
No specific word on how Feig’s film will tie into the Classic Monsters universe.

Spoilers! Whew! If you watched Part 1 of "Crisis on Infinite Earths" on
Supergirl Sunday night, you probably were not ready for that level of destruction and death. Worlds were destroyed almost faster than they were spit out in The Monitor's Big Bang-as-Multiverse creation story.
What WAS destroyed.
ComicBook.com is keeping tally.
Read on for the list of Earths destroyed in Sunday's opening hour of "Crisis on Infinite Earths."
EARTH-89
Tonight's beginning of "Crisis" wastes no time in revealing the terrifying reality of the anti-matter wave sweeping through all realities. After a voiceover explaining the concept of the birth of the multiverse and the fact that it’s now under attack, viewers are immediately taken to Gotham City on Earth-89 -- the reality in which Tim Burton's
Batman took place. Sitting on a park bench is Alexander Knox (Wuhl) reading a newspaper with a headline about The Joker. The skies behind Knox are red and the Bat Signal is alight in the sky, the unmistakable call for help from Gotham's protector. Sitting on his bench, a nervous Knox declares "I hope you're watching, big guy."
EARTH-9
The next Earth to be destroyed in Sunday's opening, Earth-9, is the home of DC Universe's
Titans and, indeed, we witness Hawk and Robin brace themselves in as they are hit with a wave of the red light, their world wiped out in an instant.
EARTH-X
Home of the Freedom Fighters and last visited during "Crisis on Earth-X", the Nazi-ruled Earth is also a victim of the anti-matter wave that makes its way across the Multiverse. It is taken out early in the episode as well, destroyed in the same opening montage as Earth-89 and Earth-9.
EARTH-66
The home Earth of the 1960s
Batman television series, Earth-66 is also a casualty of the opening wave of destruction we see. Burt Ward, reprising his role as Robin from the iconic classic television show, is seen out walking a dog when he declares "Holy Crimson Skies of Death!" and the end of his world is nigh.
ARGO (EARTH-38 UNIVERSE)
One of the most heartbreaking losses at this point in "Crisis", the last remains of Krypton -- Argo City -- is destroyed in the anti-matter wave making its way towards Earth-38. Argo is the home of Kara Danvers/Supergirl's (Melissa Benoist) mother, Alura (Erica Durance) but it's also where Lois (Elizabeth Tulloch) and Clark (Tyler Hoechlin) have been living with their infant son, Jonathan. While Lois, Clark, and Jonathan all survive, Alura is among those lost when all that is left of Krypton is destroyed.
EARTH-16
One of the Earths that we've added to this list that we don't actually see destroyed but can likely assume that it's gone is Earth-16. This is the Earth that little Jonathan Kent's escape pod is knocked to where he is found by Oliver Queen in Star City 2046. If that year is familiar to you, it's because that's actually the year that the
Legends of Tomorrow visited all the way back in season one of that show. It turns out that the Legends haven't just been hopping around time, they've been hopping around the Multiverse as well. The visit to Earth-16 helps Sara (Caity Lotz) gain some closure and also helps clean up a bit of a continuity error in terms of the Arrowverse timeline. When the heroes leave Earth-16, we don't see it die in the same way we saw the others on this list, but given how urgent Brainy (Jesse Rath) makes things seem when they leave, it's probably safe to assume Earth-16 is also gone.
EARTH-38
The last Earth that dies in Sunday's first hour of "Crisis" is
Supergirl's world, Earth-38. While it initially appears that the heroes may have a fighting chance at saving the world thanks to the Quantum Tower that emerges from the planet and dissipates the anti-matter wave, when the tower is damaged by the Shadow Lords, the world's clock starts ticking. The heroes launch a massive evacuation attempt using alien ships and a gate created by Lena Luthor (Katie McGrath) to get as many people to Earth-1 as possible. In the end, of over seven billion people on Earth-38, three billion escape before the tower fails and the world is destroyed.
Whew! And probably still more to come!

Spoilers!"Crisis on Infinite Earths," The CW's bold adaptation of one of DC Comics' key events, begins tonight with
Supergirl as the Maiden of Might faces greater losses than even fans expected, reports
TV Line.
In the premiere of the five-part crossover, The Monitor (played by guest star LaMonica Garrett) sends Harbinger (
Arrow’s Audrey Marie Anderson) to gather the worlds’ greatest heroes — including Supergirl (Melissa Benoist), The Flash (Grant Gustin), Green Arrow (Stephen Amell), Batwoman (Ruby Rose), White Canary (Caity Lotz), The Atom (Brandon Routh) and Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) — in preparation for the impending Crisis."Crisis", though, will soon lay waste to another world. And in the sneak peek below, Kara explains to her cousin Clark how she can somehow remain hopeful, even after they suffer devastating losses.
Part 1 of "Crisis" airs tonight on
Supergirl at 8/7c on The CW. The event then runs through a Monday episode of
Batwoman and that Tuesday’s episode of
The Flash. That will be the midseason cliffhanger, as The CW DC shows go on hiatus for the holidays and return on January 14 to finish out the event with the midseason premiere of
Arrow and a "special episode" of
DC's Legends of Tomorrow, which launches as a midseason series this year and so will not have an episode on the air before "Crisis".

René Auberjonois, a prolific actor best known for his role on the television show

M.A.S.H. playing Father Mulcahy, has died. He was 79. The actor died Sunday at his home in Los Angeles of metastatic lung cancer, according to his son, Remy Auberjonois
.For sci-fi fans of the 1990s and convention-goers ever since, he was Odo, the shape-shifting Changeling and head of space-station security on
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. But for film fans of the 1970s, he was Father John Mulcahy, the military chaplain who played straight man to the doctors’ antics in
M.A.S.H. It was his first significant film role and the first of several for director Robert Altman.

‘JUMANJI: THE NEXT LEVEL’ NOTCHES $53M IN EARLY OFFSHORE BOW12/08/19 @ 1:46 pm EST
Source: Deadline | Categories: MIsc | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a Comment
Deadline reports that Sony’s
Jumanji: The Next Level is out in 18 early overseas release markets ahead of domestic next weekend, and in many, the movie is stepping up versus predecessor
Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle. Overall, the Jake Kasdan-directed sequel opened to $52.5M at the international box office, slightly down on the last film’s $54.8M (at historical rates and in like-for-likes) while also lower than where the industry saw
The Next Level ahead of the weekend — the culprit here is China.
There were 16 No. 1 openings for
The Next Level across Europe and Asia, but rumble was lacking in the jungle in China as the film lags the previous installment with an estimated debut frame of $25.3M. It still topped the Middle Kingdom box office at No. 1 in a sluggish market where word of mouth is down, with a 6.2 on Douban and a 7.7 on Maoyan, versus the earlier film’s respective scores of 6.9 and 8.6.
