"CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS" EP OFFERS FANS CHANCE TO OWN HISTORY, HELP THOSE IMPACTED BY COVID-1904/07/20 @ 5:44 pm EST
Image/Shadowline is pleased to announce that both Sonata #2
and Sonata #3
—by critically acclaimed writer David Hine (Spider-man Noir
) and artist Brian Haberlin (Witchblade, Anomaly
)—are being rushed back to print in order to keep up with the growing demand for the action-packed, steampunk fantasy series.
, Sonata travels through a hidden underworld where she discovers impossible science, a giant killer bird, and a young man named Pau, who sees himself as her knight in shining armor. He is also the son of the rival Tayan leader, which makes them deadly enemies.
The buzz for this hot new series coincides with excitement for the creative team’s other forthcoming collaboration, The Marked

may look like a group of cool young influencers, but beneath the designer clothes, their bodies are tattooed with the magical glyphs of an ancient order that secretly protects the world against evil forces. With no new occult threats, The Marked use their tattooed powers solely for the pursuit of pleasure until a young woman called Liza creates a dangerous new form of Hybrid Sorcery. (Diamond Code JUL198215) will both hit stores on Wednesday, September 11. The final order cutoff for comic shop retailers is Monday, August 19. The Marked #1

Arrow'BLACK WIDOW' CHOCK-FULL OF UNEXPECTED SURPRISES, SAYS MARVEL CHIEF KEVIN FEIGE04/07/20 @ 5:30 pm EST
co-creator and "Crisis on Infinite Earths" showrunner Marc Guggenheim is offering fans a chance to own two of the original pitch boards created for the event, with the money going to benefit people impacted by the novel coronavirus pandemic. Two of the pitchboards -- one featuring a listing of the Paragons who would team with the Monitor to save the multiverse, and one featuring the most notable alternate Earths in the storyline -- are now on eBay, with sales that will conclude in a week. You can check them out at the links below. Calling it "Crisis for Crisis," Guggenheim is working with this writer to offer the boards online. The two are being sold separately to give more than one fan an opportunity to win, but the money raised will be pooled and divided evenly between two charities.
Half of the revenue generated will go to Feeding America
, which distributes food to the needy and funds to local food banks around the country. The other half will be donated to the Book Industry Charitable Foundation
, the same charity that DC Comics is donating $250,000 to in order to support comic book retailers facing financial challenges.
The pitch boards are made up of heavy-duty foam core. The "Paragons" board has the photos of the Paragons attached using Velcro, so that they could be removed and replaced if needed. The boards were made for Guggenheim and executive producer Greg Berlanti by DC Comics, and Guggenheim used them to pitch the Crisis storyline to Warner Bros., and then The CW. The boards are roughly 3' tall (about the size of a movie poster). Guggenheim is offering to pay for shipping. (via ComicBook
The CW is re-airing "Crisis on Infinite Earths" this week, starting tonight at 8 p.m. ET/PT. Two episodes will air tonight, followed by one tomorrow at 8 p.m. On Thursday, the event will conclude with two more episodes airing at 8 and 9 p.m.

The Arrowverse has found its Lana Lang: EW
has confirmed that Entourage
's Emmanuelle Chriqui is joining The CW's Superman & Lois
in the series regular role of Clark Kent's childhood best friend.
The forthcoming superhero drama, which was ordered straight-to-series in January, follows Tyler Hoechlin's Superman and his wife Lois Lane (Elizabeth Tulloch) as they juggle the pressures of working while raising their two sons. At some point in the series, Clark ends up reconnecting with Lana, whose last name is now Lang-Cushing and is a loan officer at Smallville Bank, during "one of the most difficult periods of her life," according to the official character description.
Of course, this isn't the first time Lana Lang has come to the small screen. Kristen Kreuk famously played the DC Comics character for 7 seasons on Smallville

CHINA REPORTS NO NEW CORONAVIRUS DEATHS FOR FIRST TIME IN THREE MONTHS04/07/20 @ 12:01 pm EST
The cancellation of E3 2020 came as a blow to game companies and fans alike, and it also brought into question the longer-term future of the event, as game publishers made moves toward holding their own, direct-to-consumer online shows. As one industry analyst pointed out, if publishers are able to successfully reach fans directly, what's the point of having E3 in the first place?
Despite that, and the uncertainties about what's going to happen over the next 12 months, the Entertainment Software Association is planning on going ahead with the show next year. The ESA reportedly told partners over the weekend that E3 2021 will run June 15-17, presumably preceded by a few days of pre-E3 press conferences held by major publishers. 2021 will also be a "reimagined" E3, according to the report, although details on how it will be changed weren't revealed.
Following the cancellation of E3 2020, several individual publishers, including Microsoft, Ubisoft, E3, and Devolver Digital either committed to, or said they are considering, separate online events in the absence of E3; Bethesda, unfortunately, confirmed last week that it will not hold its annual digital showcase this year. ‘EXTRACTION’: WATCH DEBUT TRAILER FOR CHRIS HEMSWORTH AND RUSSO BROTHERS’ NETFLIX THRILLER04/07/20 @ 11:57 am EST
No new coronavirus deaths were reported in mainland China on Tuesday, the first time in nearly three months.
The number of new deaths has been trending downwards in China since the beginning of March. That picture stands in contrast with the U.S. and parts of Europe, where the pandemic is still rampant, and infections and death tolls are still growing, and neighboring Japan, which is expected to declare a state of emergency later Tuesday. The global number of coronavirus deaths is over 70,000.
Mainland China has recorded 81,740 COVID-19 cases, and a total of 3,331 deaths from the disease.
Severe lockdowns, which slowed the progress of the disease in many parts of China, are now slowly being lifted. People are returning to their workplaces in the major cities. Other internal restrictions remain in place, however, including a ban on cinemas reopening.
Chinese authorities are now afraid of a new wave of infections, brought into the country by Chinese nationals returning home from abroad, and imported by foreigners. Despite this, the country is continuing with repatriation flights for its estimated 1.6 million nationals currently overseas. (via Variety
