Sutton Foster

Sutton Foster, just off a run in Sweeney Todd, will star in a musical revival of Once Upon a Mattress on Broadway this summer. The production is a new adaptation by Amy Sherman-Palladino that debuted in a two-week engagement co-starring Michael Urie at New York City Center’s Encores in January. Directed by Lear deBessonet, Mattress will begin previews at Broadway’s Hudson Theatre on July 31, with an opening night set for August 12. The musical is an updated adaptation of the Hans Christian Andersen story The Princess and the Pea and features music by Mary Rodgers, lyrics by Marshall Barer and book by Jay Thompson, Dean Fuller, and Marshall Barer. The original Broadway production debuted in 1959 with Carol Burnett as Winifred, the “unapologetic free spirit” chosen to wed the prince. (via Deadline)

Written and drawn by Leonardo Romero (Birds of Prey), with colors by Cris Peter (Casanova), this issue hits comic book shops on April 16.

The face of comic books changed forever when G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero #21 introduced fans to the “Silent Interlude,” an action-packed story with no dialogue. Now, superstar creators present unforgettable and all-new G.I. JOE Silent Missions throughout the month of April 2025.

In this standalone issue from Leonardo Romero, the iconic G.I. Joe duo of Spirit and Freedom investigate mysterious disappearances in a nearby forest, only to discover a grotesque experiment...

"Leonardo Romero is one of the very best storytellers in comics, and this issue is an absolute masterclass,” said Alex Antone, Editorial Director at Skybound. “His take on Spirit captures the heart and courage of this character and while showing just how badass a man and his eagle can be.”

In addition to the main cover by Leonardo Romero, the lineup of variant covers includes an open to order cover by Jorge Fornés (Rorschach), a 1:10 incentive black and white version of Leonardo Romero’s cover, and a 1:25 incentive foil letter version of Fornés’ cover.

G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero – Spirit #1 is the third of the all-new Silent Missions one-shots, each releasing on a Wednesday this April, from a murderer’s row of creative talent also including Phil Hester, DANI & Dan Watters, Andrew Krahnke, and Wes Craig. In celebration of Silent Missions month, Skybound will also be releasing a “Silent Missions” edition of the historic “Silent Interlude,” G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero #21, which includes a new letter from Larry Hama.

G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero, the currently running, smash hit series from legendary series writer Larry Hama (Marvel’s Wolverine), artist Chris Mooneyham (Nightwing, Sgt. Rock and the Unknown Soldier) and colorist Francesco Segala (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers) is a cornerstone of the historic collaboration between Skybound and Hasbro, alongside the shared Energon Universe that features ongoing series Void Rivals by Robert Kirkman (Invincible, The Walking Dead) and artist Lorenzo De Felici (Oblivion Song), TRANSFORMERS by writer Daniel Warren Johnson and artist Jorge Corona (Middlewest), and G.I. GODZILLA TAKES ON THE GOD OF THUNDER IN 'GODZILLA VS. THOR'
03/20/25 @ 1:41 pm EST
Source: Marvel | Categories: Godzilla | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a Comment

Godzilla’s rampage across the Marvel Universe kicks off next week in GODZILLA VS. FANTASTIC FOUR #1 by Ryan North and John Romita Jr., the first of six one-shots pitting the King of the Monsters against iconic Marvel super heroes. The GODZILLA VS. one-shots are just the beginning of an exciting new collaboration between Marvel Comics and Toho International, the Japanese studio’s U.S.-based subsidiary that has brought global sensation Godzilla to life, and will conclude this July in GODZILLA VS. THOR #1 by legendary Thor scribe Jason Aaron and acclaimed artist Aaron Kuder.

Taking place across various eras of both Marvel Comics AND Godzilla storytelling, these highly anticipated one-shots span the decades as Godzilla fights Marvel’s First Family in the Silver Age, throws down with the Hulk during the character’s influential ‘70s adventures, dukes it out with Spider-Man during the Wall Crawler’s ‘80s Black suit era, targets mutantkind at the peak of the X-Men’s popularity in the ‘90s, and confronts the iconic 2000s New Avengers lineup of Earth’s Mightest Heroes. Then, for the grand finale, Godzilla marches toward the Golden Realm to face off against perhaps the only Marvel hero who can truly take him on singlehandedly—THE MIGHTY THOR! Jason Aaron makes his triumphant return to Asgard for a battle that will shake the heavens with roaring thunder!

ROUND SIX: VS. THE GOD OF THUNDER! The deadly group of assassins known as THE HAND have bestowed GODZILLA with the power of THE BEAST! KRA-KOOM!!! THOR must defend MIDGARD from GODZILLA — but at what cost?!

“There are almost as many toy kaiju in my office as there are Mjolnirs, which is really saying something, so it made sense for me to bring two of my favorite characters together for one titanic clash,” Aaron shared. “Aaron Kuder and I are using the Godzilla from Giant Monsters All-Out Attack, one of the most brutal and powerful versions of the King of the Monsters, so expect a colossal battle that I think will rival some of the most epic, cosmic throwdowns I've ever written with the God of Thunder.”

Check out GODZILLA VS. THOR #1 covers including Aaron Kuder’s main cover, a Foil Variant Cover by Mark Bagley, the latest in Nick Bradshaw’s Monster Homage Variant Cover series, a King of the Monsters Variant Cover by Gavin Guidry and an all-new cover by one of the most celebrated Thor storytellers of all time, Walter Simonson! Stay tuned for more GODZILLA and Marvel Comics news in the months ahead, including the announcement of Marvel’s next GODZILLA comic series!

'RED SONJA: NOIR' PRESENTS AN UNFORGETTABLE PULPY TALE
03/20/25 @ 1:27 pm EST
Source: Dynamite | Categories: Red Sonja | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a Comment

This June Dynamite Entertainment presents the She-Devil With a Sword in a new, moodier light. The Red Sonja: Noir special is coming soon from fan-favorite pulp master David Avallone and artist Edu Menna.

The ultimate femme fatale has featured in so many different kinds of stories through the years, from her flagship sword and sorcery adventures, to genre twists, and unexpected crossovers. This summer fans can enjoy the miraculous results of when Hyrkanian steel mix with pulp adventure. The crimson-haired heroine of song and legend muscles her way into trouble once more in the hard-boiled Hyborian Age.

In this new deluxe release with 28 story pages and cardstock covers, Sonja finds a mercenary partner of hers murdered in cold blood. On a quest of revenge, the warrior sets out on a feverish hunt for a priceless artifact known as the Crimson Calypso. Along the way she'll have to slice her way through webs of deception and violence, waging a war of both weapons and wit against a pitiless foe.

Worthy wordsmith David Avallone is back with his biggest Red Sonja tale yet, following his debut with the character in Red Sonja: Black, White, Red #6, adjacent brushes with the character in recent Savage Tales specials, and some homage in the delightful Bettie Page Unbound. The critically acclaimed writer has become a favorite for Dynamite diehards over the years with his brilliant work on the aforementioned queen of the pinups as well as his tales of Elvira, the Mistress of the Dark. With other contributions to The Shadow, Zorro, and more, he's a master of pulp and noir, perfect for this unique take on Sonja!

Avallone is joined on Red Sonja: Noir by the incredible ink-slinger Edu Menna, who has wowed fans with his moody artwork on titles like Army of Darkness 1979, Alice Cooper, Miss Fury: Joy Division, and more. This is actually a return to the character for Menna as well, a decade in the making, following his work on Red Sonja Annual #4 from Dynamite's original ongoing for the character.

The creative team is joined by a trio of treacherously alluring covers. Led by an absolute show-stopper by Lesley "Leirix" Li, she's joined by superstar Joseph Michael Linsner, and cosplayer Molly Stewart.

RED SONJA: NOIR is solicited in Diamond Comic Distributors’ April 2025 Previews catalog, the premier source of merchandise for the comic book specialty market, and slated for release in June 2025. Comic book fans are encouraged to preorder copies of the book with their local comic book retailers. It will also be available for individual customer purchase through digital platforms courtesy of Comixology, Kindle, iBooks, Google Play, Dynamite Digital, ComicsPlus, and more!

DYNAMITE PRINTS OVER 84,000 COPIES OF 'VAMPIRELLA' #1
03/20/25 @ 1:23 pm EST
Source: Dynamite | Categories: Vampirella | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a Comment

Over half a decade after her big 50th anniversary celebration that kicked off the latest major era of Vampirella comics, Vampirella continues to soar with a highly successful new series launch and jumping-on point for fans. Vampirella #1, releasing next week on March 26, finalized with an initial print run of over 84,000 copies!

This impressive number includes all orders from fans and retailers through Diamond Comics Distributor, specialty retailers, and creator exclusive variant covers. Achieving this number would not have been possible without the interest and support from all of Dynamite's incredible fans and partners, as well as of course the all-star creative team. Fans who have never once tried out the daring tales of the Daughter of Drakulon, or those looking to jump back in, can pick up this first issue to dive into her latest epic.

Writer Christopher Priest has been chronicling the flagship tales of comicdom's longest running vampire heroine now since Free Comic Book Day in 2019. The legendary creator is known for his work on series like Black Panther, Spider-Man, Justice League, Superman, Captain America, Deadpool, and countless others, as well as tenures editing top titles. For this latest series and story arc "The Long Night," he's once again reunited with the stylistically unique Turkish master Ergün Gündüz. Alongside Priest's longtime lettering collaborator Willie Schubert and editor Matt Idelson, the creative team has crafted an intricate tale of motherhood, cyberpunk futures, and more.

This new issue also features dual numbering, representing both issue #1 in the new series and issue #676 of Dynamite's collective Vampirella legacy count as the character and publisher continues to march toward the milestone 700th issue for the icon.

Vampirella #1 is in stores starting Wednesday, March 26. Fans should make sure to pick up a copy, as well as get in their preorders or subscriptions for the second issue and beyond.

MARVEL’S FIRST FAMILY VENTURES INTO WORLDS UNKNOWN IN NEW ‘FANTASTIC FOUR' COMIC
03/19/25 @ 5:50 pm EST
Source: Marvel | Categories: Fantastic Four | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a Comment

This July, Marvel’s First Family will enter a bold new era in an all-new ongoing comic book series! Written by Ryan North (One World Under Doom, Fantastic Four) and drawn by artist Humberto Ramos (Spider-Boy, Strange Academy), the new comic series will test the strength of the Fantastic Four as they embark on adventures through time, space, science, and the human condition in a way we have never seen before.

Beginning during the events of One World Under Doom, also helmed by North, the Fantastic Four face Doom in a fight to save the world – until it suddenly goes catastrophically wrong, sending them to four different eras in Earth’s history! Alone and isolated in wildly different time periods, Reed, Johnny, Ben, and Sue all have to fight to survive.

Their only hope is to reach the Forever Stone: a mass of dense granite that happens to be one of the longest-lasting rocks on the planet, which - through a combination of obscurity and raw geologic luck - has stayed both intact and accessible for most of Earth's history.

“People often think of the FF in terms of family, and they’re not wrong, but I think there’s something really beautiful about friendship too, and we get to see that with these characters,” North said. “It’s high-concept science fiction with real emotion. What’s not to like?”

Following the currently acclaimed multi-year run wrapping this June, the new FANTASTIC FOUR series will begin with an extra-big, extra-special first issue, featuring shocking surprises and battles against the steepest odds, all brought to life by the incredible art of Humberto Ramos!

“I’ve been lucky to illustrate many of the most iconic superheroes in the universe, but this book felt different from the start,” shared Ramos. “The weight of history and legacy of these characters lay upon your shoulders, no matter who you are or how you’ve worked in this industry.”

Just ahead of Marvel Studios’ The Fantastic Four: First Steps this July, this new series will be the perfect jumping on point for both new and longtime FF fans. Don’t miss the start of a new Fantastic Four saga, in comic shops everywhere this summer!

‘THE BIG BANG THEORY’ SPINOFF GETS STUART-CENTRIC TITLE

'The Big Bang Theory' Spinoff series Gets Title

The Big Bang Theory spinoff on Max is untitled no more — and it’s good news and bad news for Kevin Sussman’s Stuart Bloom character.

The series, which remains in development, will be titled Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, Deadline reports. That puts Stuart at the center of the offshoot but also hints that the beloved sidekick, who could never quite catch a break on Big Bang, might not have better luck on his own.

On Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, Sussman is joined by fellow Big Bang alums Lauren Lapkus, who plays Kevin’s girlfriend Denise, Brian Posehn (Bert Kibbler) and John Ross Bowie (Barry Kripke).

Because the series is still awaiting a green light, the quartet are not formally cast in it but have talent holding deals with WBTV with the purpose of starring in the spinoff once it’s picked up.

Vought Rising cast: The Boys prequel adds Euphoria & Blue Bloods stars Digital Trends

Following the success of The Boys on Prime Video, creator Eric Kripke's superhero satire franchise is now set to expand with a spinoff that takes place in the 1950s. Hailing from showrunner Paul Grellong, Vought Rising's story has been described as a murder mystery about Vought's origins, with both Jensen Ackles' Soldier Boy and Aya Cash's Stormfront, aka Clara Vought, both confirmed to star.

Variety is reporting that Will Hochman has been cast in Vought Rising in an undisclosed role. Hochman starred in five seasons of Blue Bloods as Joe Hill. In addition, Deadline reports that Euphoria actor Elizabeth Posey has also joined the spinoff, though it's not clear who she will be playing. Production is expected to get underway later this year.

So far, the only actors from the cast of The Boys confirmed to appear are Cash and Ackles. The Boys season 5 started filming last November and is slated to release at some point in 2026. (via Screen Rant)

WARNER BROS NEGOTIATING BIG SALE OF SHELVED ‘COYOTE VS. ACME’ MOVIE

'Coyote vs. Acme' sales in works after Warner Bros shelved movie

Warner Bros‘ shelved movie Coyote vs. Acme finally might have found a new home with the studio deep in sale negotiations, Deadline reports.

Gareth West’s distributor-financier Ketchup Entertainment is negotiating an all-rights acquisition in the $50M range for the animated/live-action hybrid project. Ketchup last year rescued the same studio’s The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie.

The pact isn’t finalized and there’s still a chance it doesn’t make it, but it’s heading in the right direction. Should it get over the line, the film would get a theatrical release in 2026.

Directed by David Green and written by May December scribe Samy Burch, as well as DC Studios co-boss James Gunn and Jeremy Slater, Coyote vs. Acme is based on the Looney Tunes characters and the New Yorker humor article “Coyote v. Acme” by Ian Frazier.

Despite test-screening well, the project became a high-profile casualty of WB cost-cutting two years ago and it has been sitting on the shelf for more than a year. The studio reportedly screened the movie to a string of buyers in early 2024 with a price tag of around $70M, which is how much the film is said to have cost. Studio sources claim to us that they didn’t get any offers at the time.

Warner Bros and Ketchup declined to comment.
