Source: Variety | Categories: Dark Horse | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a Comment

“The Umbrella Academy” is coming back this June with a new story told in its original comic-book medium from creators Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá and Dark Horse Comics.

Per the description for “The Umbrella Academy: Plan B,” “After the mass release of The City’s greatest foes and the chaos that followed in Hotel Oblivion, the Umbrella Academy faces their most fearsome challenge to date – their other brothers and sisters. Known only as The Sparrows, they share a different connection to Sir Reginald Hargreeves and Mom. No one knows how to hurt each other more than family, and this powerful, ruthless brood will spare no brutality in favor of their sole objective—control and the obedient glare that comes with it.”

The new comic is co-written by Way and Bá (who also illustrates), colored by Dave Stewart and lettered by Nate Piekos.

It will be released June 11 and is currently available for preorder for $4.99.

Dark Horse says Issue #1 will feature six variant covers illustrated by artists including Fabio Moon, Claire Roe, Mike del Mundo, Duncan Fegredo, David Aja and Jill Thompson. (via Variety)

Matt Damon will be playing Odysseus in Christopher Nolan‘s upcoming epic “The Odyssey,” Variety is reporting. He will appear alongside an expansive cast including Tom Holland, Mia Goth, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, Benny Safdie, Jon Bernthal and John Leguizamo.

Damon’s role was revealed Monday morning through the film’s official X account. The post included a photo of him in character and read, “Matt Damon is Odysseus. A film by Christopher Nolan, #TheOdysseyMovie is in theaters July 17, 2026.”

“The Odyssey” follows the Greek champion Odysseus on his tumultuous journey home after the Trojan War. The story was first scribed by the ancient Greek poet Homer over 2,000 years ago and is one of the oldest stories still enjoyed by modern readers.

Nolan penned the script and serves as director and producer. His wife, Emma Thomas, will also produce under the pair’s Syncopy banner.
'NIGHT AGENT' SEASON 3 GETS PROMISING UPDATE FROM AMANDA WARREN

Night Agent Season 3 Gets Promising Release Update from Star Amanda Warren (Exclusive)

The star of Night Agent Season 2 has teased when fans might expect to see a Season 3 release -- and, promisingly, it's sooner rather than later.

It didn't take long after Night Agent Season 1’s record-breaking viewership on Netflix for the steaming service to renew the show for Season 2. Confidence in the series clearly remains sky-high, as Season 3 was already publicly greenlit as well, three months before the second had even aired.

Amanda Warren, who plays Catherine Weaver, talked to The Direct and teased when fans might be able to see more episodes.

"Whenever I, as a TV viewer, see something that I really love, I'm always hoping for [the] same time next year, or at least, you know, a year from when—not all streaming platforms are built the same, but sometimes they come out weekly, and sometimes I'm just like, 'Okay, from the end episode, same time next year?'" Warren said. "So, I always hope for the same time next year. I can tell you that 'Night Agent' shot at the same time last year, so we are on schedule. I mean, as a production now, they're really on schedule.

"And I know that [showrunner] Sean Ryan is super excited about this season coming up," she continued. "And I know that [Gabriel Basso (who plays Peter Sutherland)] is very happy with what he's done. I'm just happy for the show, and I'm happy to have really made my contribution in Season 2."

CAPTAIN AMERICA SOARING TOWARDS BIGGEST OPENING OF 2025

Source: Deadline | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a Comment
As of Sunday morning, Captain America: Brave New World is on track to be the first $100 million opening of 2025. There are a few caveats to that though as it’s on path for $87 million three-day total but because of the President’s Day holiday, Monday will be added to the mix and the film is expected to bring in from $95 to $109 million for the four-days. It’s also expected to do almost as well overseas leading to an estimated Global opening of $192.4 million, about $2 million above initial expectations. Over half of the tickets sold on Saturday were to this Marvel Studios film and it makes the film the fourth biggest President’s Day opening ever with the other three all being Marvel films including Black Panther ($242 million), Deadpool ($152 million), and Ant-Man and the Wasp:  Quantumania ($120 million). It’s also the 35th consecutive MCU film to open a #1 at the domestic box office. It is interesting to note that one of the biggest complaints about the film, the marketing reveal of Red Hulk, may also be one of the major keys to having got people into the theater. And while the critics-score is still sitting at 51%, the audience-score continues to rise and now sits at 80%. In second place at the box office this weekend is the newly released Paddington in Peru which is looking at a four-day total of $16 to $17.5 million.  CABNW
AUSTRIAN BUSINESSMAN GOES AFTER JAMES BOND TRADEMARK
02/16/25 @ 11:20 am EST
Source: Deadline | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a Comment
There is a legal dispute over the "James Bond" name. Austrian businessman Josef Kleindienst, who is developing a luxury resort in Dubai, has filed a lawsuit against the US company Danjaq, which owns the trademark rights to the James Bond name. Kleindienst argues that Danjaq hasn't been using the trademark sufficiently, and he wants to use the name for his real estate projects. His plan is to build a $6 billion compound on six man-made islands in Dubai. Legally he is citing an EU law which states that if a trademark name is left commercially unused for at least five years, then a challenge to revoke ownership can be made. The last James Bond movie, No Time to Die, was released in 2021 and there is no new title for the next film, nor a new actor chosen to play Bond. Bond as an intellectual property is co-owned by filmmakers Eon and MGM Studios, with the latter being sold to Amazon in 2022. Have to admit though, a guy building a compound on a man-made island where he plans to bread carpet sharks sounds very much like a Bond villain. Bond
NATE MOORE TALKS ARMOR WARS AND BLACK PANTHER 3

Former Marvel Producer Nate Moore spoke about the planned Armor Wars movie, and while it’s not a project he’s working on now, he did have this to say, “As Marvel continues to go through this phase, we want to make sure whatever we’re making is awesome. This means we had to slow down some things that were on the front burner. It doesn’t mean we’ll never make it, but it does mean we have to be a little bit more considered so that every time out audiences are guaranteed quality.” He was then asked by Collider about Denzel Washington saying Ryan Coogler was writing a role for him in Black Panther 3 and if they had figured out what that role was going to be: “We haven’t, and that’s what’s so funny about his comments. He actually called Ryan to apologize because we should be so lucky but that’s super early days. Ryan is finishing his film Sinners, which is going to be amazing, so we haven’t really started cracking story. I know there is a lot of speculation and casting rumors on-line, but none of it’s true. Which is fine because that speaks to people’s passion for the property, which is great. If and when we can figure out how to get Denzel into the MCU, that’s going to be an amazing day. And I couldn’t be more excited for what Panther 3 could be.” It was announced a few months back that Moore was leaving Marvel Studios but would still be involved as a producer on some projects, like Black Panther 3 while also pursuing some non-MCU producing projects.   Denzel
A COURT OF THORNS AND ROSES NOT MOVIING FORWARD AT HULU

Source: Deadline | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a Comment
Four years ago, Hulu made a deal to adapt its first ever fantasy project based on the popular book series A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas. The books are a loose retelling of the Beauty and the Beast story with elements of romance, adventure and political intrigue. The adaptation was in the hands of Ron Moore who had an overall deal with 20th Television and was set up with Hulu with a script commitment plus significant penalty. All of this looked good for this project to happen. Except it’s not as Moore’s deal is done and has moved back to Sony Pictures Television and while it was believed that the IP would continue with a different writer, the word now is that Hulu and 20th Television will not be proceeding forward with the project.Court Thorn Roses
