CALEB LANDRY JONES TO LEAD LUC BESSON'S TAKE ON DRACULA02/17/24 @ 3:49 pm EST
Source: Deadline | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a CommentOne of the most unique filmmakers in the business,
Luc Besson, has announced his next project. The mind behind
The Fifth Element,
Lucy,
Leon: The Professional,
The Transporter and
Taken is going to try his hand at adapting
Bram Stoker’s classic vampire novel as
Dracula – A Love Tale. The idea behind his take will be exploring more of the origin elements including the gothic romance between Prince Vladimir and his wife whose loss causes him to forsake God and become a vampire. SAG winner
Caleb Landry Jones (
X-Men: First Class) is set to play Dracula while two-time Oscar winner
Christoph Waltz is attached in an undisclosed role. Jones recently teamed with Besson on the film
DogMan which a lot of critics referred to as Besson’s comeback after some big budget misses like
Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets.
IS MARVEL SETTING UP THE RETURN OF THE SCARLET WITCH?11/03/24 @ 11:00 am EST
Source: Deadline | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a CommentOne of the major questions that have been floating around the MCU since
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has to do with the final fate of Wanda Maximoff aka the Scarlet Witch. We don’t actually see the character die; we just know her body was possibly crushed when the mountain collapsed. We also learned that she destroyed the Darkhold in every universe meaning she had access to the multiverse at the end. When the character is brought up in Agatha All Along, her fate is also not clear. When Billy (
Joe Locke) asked if Wanda was dead, Agatha (
Kathryn Hahn) said ‘Yes’, then ‘No’, then “Maybe’. Later
Elizabeth Olsen’s character was referred to as ‘Gone’, a word that Marvel Studios told show writer
Jac Schaeffer to use when referring to Wanda’s fate. Olsen has also said she would return to the MCU if the story was right. With the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, it is likely that the Scarlet Witch will be back, possibly being used by Doctor Doom to warp reality into one where he is in power.
THE TWIST CUT FROM STAR WARS: THE PHANTOM MENACE11/03/24 @ 10:17 am EST

Star Wars: The Phantom Menace coming up to its 25th anniversary, we’re learning something interesting that almost happened in the film that would’ve shaken things up quite a bit. Obi-Wan was originally going to die during the battle with Darth Maul… I know that makes no sense since Obi-Wan appears in episode four, but that would be the controversial part. According to concept and storyboard artist
Iain McCaig that things were originally very different, “It’s interesting how things evolve. For a time, the older Jedi was named Obi-Wan and the younger Jedi was named Qui-Gon. It was very poignant that at the end, as Obi-Wan dies and Qui-Gon defeats Darth Maul and stays with his Master as he passes away, he not only takes on his Master’s quest, but he takes on his name. Qui-Gon becomes Obi-Wan.” He continued, “That’s why when you see
Alec Guinness in
A New Hope, he puts his hood down and goes, ‘Obi-Wan? Now that’s a name I’ve not heard….’ Because he’s not Obi-Wan, he’s Qui-Gon. And right at the end, George changed it.” I think
George Lucas probably saw that this was just a more complicated way of getting to exactly the same place.
TODD PHILLIPS HAS AN IDEA TO IMPROVE THE MOVIE GOING EXPERIENCE11/03/24 @ 10:03 am EST
Source: Deadline | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a CommentJoker: Folie à Deux director
Todd Phillips has an idea to make the move going experience better for audiences. Empire magazine has been asking filmmakers what the future of movies and entertainment will look like, with most talking about stuff like AI or streaming services… Phillips had a very different answer. “Stop showing commercials before the movies,” he said. “We’ve paid for our tickets. We’re excited to be there. The commercials tend to take the air out of the room.” Between ads and trailers, there does seem to be almost a half hour of material that airs prior to the start of the actual movie. At least with streaming services you have the choice of spending a bit more to avoid the commercials.
TOM CRUISE IN EARLY TALKS FOR DAYS OF THUNDER SEQUEL11/02/24 @ 10:57 am EST
Source: Deadline | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a CommentWell, it worked for
Top Gun: Maverick. Latest word is Paramount Pictures is looking to fire up another 35-year dormant
Tom Cruise franchise and return to
Days of Thunder. The actor is said to be in early talks to reprise his role as Cole Tickle in the 1990 NASCAR themed film that also starred
Nicole Kidman,
Robert Duvall,
Cary Elwes,
Randy Quaid,
Michael Rooker and
John C. Reilly. At this rate, the next big action movie in Cruise’s catalog the studio might want to make a sequel to would be
Mission: Impossible from 1996… except he’s still making those thirty years later.

Jack Ryan are not over after all. Word is that Amazon MGM Studios will be evolving the franchise into a new phase, moving from doing seasons of the series to movies.
Wendell Pierce will also return, and
Michael Kelly is in negotiations to do the same. The writer for season four,
Aaron Rabin, will script the film and second season director
Andrew Bernstein will helm the project. The series will continue from the four seasons of the series, but no word if it will try to adapt some of
Tom Clancy’s original Jack Ryan novels or if it will continue doing new stories.
AGATHA ENDS WITH STRONG NUMBERS11/02/24 @ 10:37 am EST
Source: Deadline | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a CommentAgatha All Along ended with a bang according to the view numbers. The final two episodes were released at the same time with episode eight gaining 4.6 million views, up 48% from the series premiere and up 400,000 views from episode seven. Interestingly, the ninth episode got 3.9 million viewers. The dip in audience could be explained by people not knowing there were two episodes or wanting to save the final for the next night, Halloween. Also, the way the eighth episode ended could’ve left viewers believing that it was the finale. Marvel has been changing its release schedule with the last few projects with What If…?! season two releasing each episode on sequential nights and the Echo releasing all at once, now Agatha released weekly except the first two and last two episodes were released in pairs. The next two release will be a third series of What If…?! in December and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man in January. The next live action is Daredevil: Born Again in March where we’ll see if they do the two episode drops again.

NEW ‘GODZILLA’ MOVIE FROM ‘GODZILLA MINUS ONE’ DIRECTOR GREENLIT BY TOHO11/01/24 @ 4:23 pm EST
Source: Variety | Categories: Godzilla | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a CommentA new “Godzilla” movie, from the director of last year’s Oscar-winning Japanese film “Godzilla Minus One,” has been officially greenlit. Toho, the Japanese entertainment company and creator of Godzilla, made the announcement on Friday.
Takashi Yamazaki, who wrote and directed the surprise hit “Godzilla Minus One,” will return for the new film. He’s once again handling the VFX, after winning the Academy Award for best visual effects in 2023.
“Godzilla Minus One” was Toho 33rd “Godzilla” movie and the 37th to include the famous monster. The Japanese film is unrelated to Hollywood’s recent portrayals of Godzilla in Warner Bros. and Legendary’s Monsterverse, which includes King Kong.
It’s unclear if the new movie is a direct sequel to “Godzilla Minus One”; however, the film did end on a cliffhanger for the rampaging lizard. After Godzilla is defeated, it’s revealed that a piece of the monster’s flesh is regenerating in the bottom of the ocean. There’s also the issue of Shikishima’s girlfriend, Noriko Ōishi, who survived a run-in with Godzilla but is left with a mysterious black marking on her neck. (via Variety)

TOM HOLLAND-AUSTIN BUTLER PACKAGE ‘AMERICAN SPEED’ LANDS AT AMAZON MGM STUDIOS11/01/24 @ 4:06 pm EST
Source: Deadline | Categories: MIsc | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a CommentFollowing a competitive auction, Amazon MGM Studios has landed
American Speed, a package with Tom Holland and Austin Butler attached to star. Oscar-winning producer Charles Roven (
Oppenheimer) is attached to produce via his Atlas Entertainment banner alongside RD Whittington and Douglas Banker. Atlas’ Ryan Sanak will executive produce.
Dan Wiedenhaupt is writing the script, which is based on the true story of the Whittington brothers —three historically famous race car drivers, two of whom were part of the 1980s IMSA scandal, in which a number of drivers were charged with financing their racing activities with proceeds from drug smuggling, money laundering or tax evasion.
Holland has had himself a week prior to this news, with the next installment in his
Spider-Man franchise officially announcing Destin Daniel Cretton will come on as director and the film claiming a July 2026 release date. Butler has had himself quite the 2024 that began with his scene-stealing role opposite Timothée Chalamet in
Dune: Part Two. (via Deadline)
