TI WEST FOUND FOOTAGE HORROR MOVIE JUST LANDED ON PRIME VIDEO

How to Change Your Country on Amazon Prime Video to Access More Movies, Shows - News18

When people think of horror filmmaker Ti West, many probably think about his recent trilogy of A24 films with Mia Goth. X, Pearl, and Maxxxine made for a fantastic big screen horror saga, but those movies came after a substantial gap in West’s feature film resume. Earlier in his career, West was known for his horror innovations with ultra low budgets, delivering some terrifying work in the world of found footage.

West’s most well-known found footage horror film is probably 2011’s The Innkeepers, but his follow-up effort two years later is every bit as chilling. In 2013, West released a little film called The Sacrament, and the movie just made its way to Amazon’s Prime Video lineup.

The film follows a camera crew as they accompany a man on a search for his missing sister. Once they get to the religious “paradise” where she has been staying, things start to spiral out of their control. (via ComicBook.com)

'SUPERMAN' REVEALS FIRST LOOK AT MOVIE’S 8TH VILLAIN

A new Superman toy has revealed the eighth major villain set to appear in James Gunn's upcoming DC Studios epic. While big names like Lex Luthor and The Engineer will put their stamp on the 2025 comic book film, Gunn has made it clear that there will be room for even more characters from the Man of Steel's rogues' gallery in his first DCU movie.

A new toy listing revealed that the mysterious Yeti would be the eighth villain in Superman. While most will know the white-furred beast from real-world mythology, the Yeti has a history in DC Comics, having been seen fighting heroes like Black Adam in various comic book stories over the years.

The Yeti reveal came via a Superman tie-in toy set spotted by Superman Homepage, featuring a figurine of the hulking metahuman. The set, called the "Fortress of Solitude Battle Set," includes posable plastic figurines of David Corenswet's Man of Steel, the adorable Krypto the Super-Dog, and the Yeti.

The Yeti is the eighth villain revealed for Superman, joining the likes of Lex Luthor, Hammer of Boravia, Ultraman, The Engineer, White Alien, Kaiju and, of course, LexCorp. (via The Direct)

Superman will soar into theaters on July 11.

Dafne Keen in 'Whistle'

Independent Film Company and Shudder have acquired U.S. rights to Whistle, the new horror film from The Nun director Corin Hardy, starring Dafne Keen (Logan), Sophie Nélisse (Yellowjackets), Sky Yang (Rebel Moon), Percy Hynes White (My Old Ass) and Nick Frost (How to Train Your Dragon).

The film will be released wide in theaters at a date not yet disclosed. Black Bear is handling international sales.

Owen Egerton adapted the screenplay for Whistle from his own short story. The film watches as a misfit group of unwitting high school students stumble upon a cursed object, an ancient Aztec Death Whistle. Soon, they discover that blowing the whistle and the terrifying sound it emits will summon their future deaths to hunt them down. As the body count rises, the friends investigate the origins of the deadly artifact in a desperate effort to stop the horrifying chain of events that they have set in motion. (via Deadline)
ANTHONY CARRIGAN TALKS METAMORPHO

The new Superman trailer gave us better looks at the character of Metamorpho, played by Anthony Carrigan. We also get to see how this reluctant hero is being used against Superman (David Corenswet) by Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult). In one scene we see Superman in a cell being beaten with Metamorpho sitting behind him. If you look closely, his hand is a glowing shade of green, meaning he likely used his ability to transform his body into other elements to make his hand into Kryptonite to weaken Superman. And while there is no evidence in the comics that he’s ever done it, it is conceivable that Metamorpho could use his molecular reconstruction abilities and elasticity to take the size and form of a kaiju-like creature. Either way he’s definitely being manipulated by Lex. Carrigan was asked recently by the DC Studio Showcase podcast about what comics were his inspiration for the characters. The Barry actor said, "Basically, whatever I could get my hands on. It was really important to me — and I think it was also one of the reasons James hired me — is because this character in particular has this real kind of pathos to him. And unlike a lot of superheroes, he's not crazy about the fact that he's a superhero. He feels cursed by what he has. And so I really kind of bring something to that, and it really lit a fire." So while other heroes will appear in the film, it looks like Metamorpho has the potential to go from unwilling tool to the hero from the comics.Metamorpho

DOES MARVEL HAVE PLANS FOR IRON FIST?

With the second season of Daredevil: Born Again set up for other heroes to appear and the recent announcement of Krysten Ritter returning as Jessica Jones, the question becomes what about the other Defenders? Well, it appears that Marvel Studios has something in mind as they decided not to include Danny Rand's Iron Fist in What If...? Season 3. According to the show's director, Bryan Andrews, there were plans for a Kung-Fu-centric episode featuring Iron Fist alongside Shang-Chi, but Marvel Studios asked him to drop those plans. This would likely feature a tournament pitting the two martial artists against others from the comics to see who was the best. Instead, the season introduced Kwai Jun-Fan, a young fighter in the Wild West, who has ties to the Iron Fist mantle in Marvel Comics. While Jun-Fan isn't explicitly given the Iron Fist powers in the show, his skills and story hint at a possible future for the character in the MCU. It seems odd that Marvel would not want the character used unless the specific scenario planned was too close to something else in the works.Iron Fist
PRIME PASSES ON MORE OF THE BONDSMAN

The Bondsman has been canceled after just one season on Prime Video. The supernatural action-horror series, starring Kevin Bacon, premiered on April 3, 2025, but despite strong initial viewership, it failed to maintain momentum. The show made it to #9 on Nielsen’s streaming rankings during its debut week, with 563 million minutes viewed, but quickly dropped off the charts. While it received positive reviews, averaging 83% on Rotten Tomatoes, it struggled to generate buzz on social media. The series followed Hub Halloran (Bacon), a murdered bounty hunter resurrected by the Devil to track down escaped demons. It was produced by Blumhouse Television and created by Grainger David.Bondsman
MILLY ALCOCK'S SUPERGIRL TO DEBUT BEFORE SOLO MOVIE

Milly Alcock has been confirmed to appear as Supergirl in Superman (2025), directed by James Gunn. Alcock was previously announced as Supergirl for Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow (2026), but recent reports suggest she would make her debut earlier in Superman. Fans have speculated about her involvement since the release of the film’s trailer, where eagle-eyed viewers believe they spotted a Supergirl cameo. That was seemingly confirmed by Warner Bros themselves as they listed the upcoming film on HBO Max and included Alcock as a member of the cast. Earlier this week during the Upfronts, head of Warner Bros, David Zaslav, said that the pillars for building the DC Universe included Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and Supergirl. As the other two pillars have yet to be cast, it would make sense for them to get the first to in place as quickly as possible. Superman is set to hit theaters on July 11, 2025.Super
KRYSTEN RITTER RETURNS TO THE MCU
05/17/25 @ 11:35 am EST
Source: Variety | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a Comment
Krysten Ritter is officially returning as Jessica Jones in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2. The announcement was made during Disney’s Upfront presentation in New York, where Ritter took the stage alongside Daredevil star Charlie Cox to reveal the news. Ritter expressed her excitement, saying, “It’s so great to be back, returning to Jessica after three seasons and The Defenders and now joining the MCU. I’m so excited to bring back this iconic character, and without giving too much away, there is much more in store for Jessica Jones. This is going to be an incredible season!”. This marks a major moment for Marvel fans, as Jessica Jones was one of the beloved characters from the Netflix Marvel shows, which were canceled in 2019 when Disney shifted its focus to MCU content on Disney+. With Daredevil: Born Again already bringing back Jon Bernthal’s Punisher, Ritter’s return suggests Marvel might be slowly reuniting the Defenders. In previous interviews Mike Colter who played Luke Cage and Finn Jones who played Danny Rand both indicated they’d be interested in returning as well if asked.Jessica Jones

Prepare for the most electrifying chapter yet in the ThunderCats comics saga! The fight fans have been wanting for decades goes down in the third collected volume of the flagship series, presented by Dynamite Entertainment and Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products.

This August, the battle for Third Earth reaches its most perilous turning point in ThunderCats Volume 3: Apex, collecting issues #11-15 of the acclaimed series from writer Declan Shalvey and artist Drew Moss.

With Mumm-Ra’s sinister Black Pyramid finally uncovered, Lion-O embarks on a daring mission to challenge the fearsome Devil-Priest in the heart of his stronghold. If he can defeat his nemesis in single combat, the ThunderCats may finally secure their claim to their new home. But as the dust settles from their epic clash, an even greater danger looms — thrusting Lion-O and the ThunderCats into two separate battles across two different worlds!

"This third arc on Third Earth is the apex (pun intended) of my original plans for when I took on ThunderCats as a comic book series,” said writer Declan Shalvey. “Where, with all the groundwork laid down, myself and artist Drew Moss could truly build to an epic climax and establish who the ThunderCats really were. Due to the tremendous support the series has received, this arc has also given us an extra opportunity... to build a springboard for new ideas and more ambitious storytelling. I'm so excited to see what comes next."

Available in both hardcover and trade paperback editions, ThunderCats Volume 3: Apex features breathtaking cover art from renowned artists Lucio Parrillo for the hardcover and Declan Shalvey for the paperback. This 128-page collection delivers the thrilling third major arc from writer Declan Shalvey and artist Drew Moss, culminating in the stunning revelations of the final chapter “Warrior” beautifully illustrated by Joe Mulvey.

Originally debuting as an iconic animated series, ThunderCats continues to captivate audiences through compelling storytelling, unforgettable characters, and dynamic artwork and animation. The latest comic series brings new life to the legendary warriors of Thundera, offering both longtime fans and new readers an epic adventure unlike any other.

Don’t miss this must-have addition to the ThunderCats legacy when ThunderCats Volume 3: Apex arrives on shelves this August!

THUNDERCATS VOLUME 3: APEX is solicited in Diamond Comic Distributors’ June 2025 Previews catalog, the premier source of merchandise for the comic book specialty market, and slated for release in August 2025.
