'THE FLASH', 'LEGENDS OF TOMORROW', OTHER BERLANTI PRODS. SERIES SET TENTATIVE PRODUCTION START DATES09/23/20 @ 11:06 pm EST
Vault Comics is thrilled to announce that FINGER GUNS #1
is receiving an additional new, wrap around C cover from star artist Jen Hickman (TEST, Jem and the Holograms).
Jen Hickman is a visual storyteller and a graduate of the Savannah College of Art and Design's Sequential Art program. Past work includes TEST, Moth & Whisper, Jem and the Holograms, the Femme Magnifique anthology, and more. They get really excited about dystopian fiction, good coffee, and drawing hands.
Written by Justin Richards, drawn by Val Halvorson, colored by Rebecca Nalty, lettered by Taylor Esposito, and designed by Tim Daniel, FINGER GUNS is one of Vault's most talked about new 2020 series so far, having already garnered glowing early reviews, along with spotlights in The New York Times and The Hollywood Reporter.
In FINGER GUNS, two troubled teenagers discover they can manipulate emotions by firing finger guns. There will be laughs. There will be tears. There will be uncomfortable teen feelings and angst. Oh yeah.. And chaos. So much chaos.
"FINGER GUNS is a deceptively brave story," says Vault Editor-in-Chief, Adrian Wassel. "It’s about kids, who have the strange ability to point their fingers at people and—bang—manipulate their emotions, but it is not a story for kids. FINGER GUNS handles some heavy themes and tough imagery with such a deft touch you could almost miss it—almost. You’ll see a young white kid running around blasting people with a finger gun that makes them powerfully angry. You’ll see a young girl of color firing a calm gun to stem the chaotic tide. You’ll see these two become friends—support each other, learn from each other, and even hurt each other, in equal measure. FINGER GUNS is a book about emotional maturity, what it takes to grow up, how few of us actually do, and the importance of harnessing compassion in an age of selfishness. Like I said, it’s deceptively brave. You’ll have so much fun, right up until you feel the tears welling."
FINGER GUNS #1 is on sale February 26th, 2020.

Variety 'SUICIDE SQUAD' SPINOFF SERIES 'PEACEMAKER' STARRING JOHN CENA FROM JAMES GUNN SET AT HBO MAX09/23/20 @ 10:35 pm EST
reports that Disney has postponed the release of fall blockbusters such as Marvel’s Black Widow
, Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story
and Kenneth Branagh’s Death on the Nile
by several months. The results are bad news for the exhibition industry, which is facing fierce headwinds after closing for months due to coronavirus.
The studio has kept the late November release date of Pixar’s Soul
, surprising some in the industry who had expected the animated family film to either move to a later perch or get released on Disney+.
The moves set off a cascade of distribution shifts that will upend the theatrical landscape for months. Other Marvel releases, such as Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings
will all debut deeper into 2021. Disney’s release date shifts all but guarantee that box office revenues this year will reach a nadir — analysts have already projected that domestic grosses would decline between 70% to 80% due to the pandemic.Black Widow
will now open on May 7, 2021. Eternals
will debut on Nov. 5, 2021. And Shang Chi
, Marvel’s first film with an Asian lead, has moved to July 9, 2021.

Spoilers ahoy for Justice League #53!Dark Nights: Death MetalJIM GORDON FINISHED AS GOTHAM'S COMMISSIONER IN DC COMICS?09/23/20 @ 7:00 am EST
has shifted many fans' perceptions of the DC Comics universe, as it takes a twisted and unexpected take on characters that fans know and love. The event has spanned multiple titles and various one-shots thus far, and introduced many alternate iterations of DC heroes and villains in the process. One of the latest came courtesy of the event's Justice League tie-in -- and it has a pretty intense history in the DC Universe.Justice League
#53 follows Nightwing, Hawkgirl, and Detective Chimp forming an unlikely partnership, after they are tasked with returning to the ruins of the Hall of Justice in hopes of finding a way to save the Justice League. There, they are met with Lex Luthor, who surprisingly begins to provide them with pivotal information they can use in the fight against The Batman Who Laughs and Perpetua. As Luthor explains, Perpetua's throne has found a home in multiple locations across the multiverse, and is now guarded by The Omega Knight, an amalgam of the Omega Titans who died at the destruction of the Source Wall. Even though the throne is currently being held in Brimstone Bay, Luthor hinted that it isn't necessarily easy to go there, and that J'onn J'onnz/Martian Manhunter already tried to do so. While there, he was met with an unexpected foe -- the Dark Mindhunter, a hybrid of both Batman and Martian Manhunter.
While this is far from the first (or probably last) dark take on Batman that fans will find in the series, the context of his amalgamation with Martian Manhunter is certainly interesting. This is especially true when you take into consideration DC's recent plots involving Manhunter DNA. (via ComicBook

'THE BOYS': SEASON 2 EPISODE 5 PROMO ARRIVES09/23/20 @ 6:48 am EST
What happens if James Gordon is no longer the Police Commissioner of Gotham City? The answer to this question is being played out right now in James Tynion IV’s current storyline in Batman and the tie-in franchise books of the Bat-Family, “Joker War”.
The Batman character is often depicted as a dangerous and extralegal vigilante and he certainly is those things. However, he has almost always operated with the full or tacit approval of the Gotham City Police Department thanks to his unique partnership with GCPD Commissioner James Gordon. How will things change when he's replaced by Lieutenant Harvey Bullock? (via Screen Rant)
The actual passing of the baton appears to have happened off-panel, somewhere between the revelation that Gordon has been infected by the Batman Who Laughs in Batman/Superman #3 and the first mention of Commissioner Bullock in Batman #86. (Though the current massive event storyline Dark Nights: Death Metal is currently unfinished and takes place in this gap.) As Bullock himself said to Batman in #87, “Hell. I’m a seat-warmer. We both know it.”
Gordon has been missing from Batman for months and even disappeared from the entire franchise of books with the exception of the series that stars his daughter, Batgirl.
Will Commissioner Bullock last? Or will Commissioner Gordon make a dramatic return in Batman #100? To find out if this time is different, we’ll all have to wait and see.

Dynamite announces a pair of stunning exclusive variant covers featuring Red Sonja and Vampirella by powerhouse duo Jim Balent and Holly Golightly, available right now on Indiegogo!
"I’m a huge fan of Frank Thorne’s work, especially on the Red Sonja Series!," said Jim Balent. "Although I will never surpass his depiction of this She-Devil With a Sword, I could not pass up this opportunity to illustrate one of my favorite covers he created. I consider this a huge honor to have my cover on his iconic issue."
"Lush and glamorous, romantic, goth and melodramatic... as a teen, all of these qualities pulled me into Vampirella’s world," said Holly Golightly. "I wanted to be her best friend and join her in all her adventures. It’s a dream come true to share my passion for her and Jose Gonzalez’s art through my cover with other Vampi fans!“
This is actually a very special project for both Balent and Golightly, who have long been fans of these iconic characters and that influence is seen in their styles and work to this day.
Holly was such a big fan of Vampirella, and particularly the sensual stylings of her definitive 1970s artist Jose Gonzalez, that she used an image of the Drakulonian for her high school graduation yearbook page! As she navigated growing up and honing her artistry, Holly identified with the outsider nature of Vampi and the macabre horror of those original stories. Her favorite issue was the 1972 Annual, which featured a deep roster of top artists across 64 pages like Gonzalez, Wally Wood, Jeffrey Catherine Jones, Neal Adams, and more. Which is why her exclusive new art is adorning a limited-edition printing of that issue and at magazine size!
On the other hand, Jim Balent taps into his "Barbarian Jim" persona to channel the legendary strokes of Frank Thorne for a Crom-ful classic new cover. Fans should make sure to watch the promo video to see Jim in his full barbarian glory. His Red Sonja cover pays homage to Thorne and Bruce Jones' "Eyes of the Gorgon" story, originally published in 1976 in Marvel Feature #4. His cover will be gracing a stunning limited edition of that classic story.
Each cover is being offered in three main variations. Balent's comes standard with traditional trade dress, as a virgin logo-free edition, or a black and white line art variant. Holly's comes standard, with the line art, or as a special alternate version she designed to homage pop art pioneer Patrick Nagel, known for his striking portraits of women. Fans can get combo packages of the covers, CGC graded copies, signed editions, or even remark sketches from Holly. She'll also be doing a limited number of truly one-of-a-kind sketch covers - in full color!
Trading card sets for each cover represent all the editions, the original inspiration issue, and a fun behind the scenes photo of each artist's process. Tee shirts, lithograph prints, and collectible coins round out this overflowing extravaganza of Vampi and Sonja celebration!
Jim Balent is a 35 year veteran of comics, establishing himself at the forefront of the "bad girl" movement in comics nearly right off the bat. His Dynamite DNA goes way back, with some of his earliest work being inking the Vampirella: The Dracula War story arc early into the Harris era, and drawing Purgatori's first solo series with Chaos! Comics. In 1993 he kicked off a new Catwoman series at DC, which still stands as her longest-running. Jim drew over 80 issues in a row over a 7-year run, intersecting with fan-favorite crossovers like Knightfall and No Man's Land, and even a tussle with Vampirella! Characters like Catwoman, Vampi, Purgatori, and Billy Tucci's Shi lead the way as the most popular comics of the 1990s began to star kickass women.
Holly Golightly kicked off her comics career with her own bad girl creation, Vampfire
. She's also balanced the scales and shown off her versatility on the "good girl" end with a plethora of stories for Archie Comics on everyone's favorite Riverdale teens. This includes a fan-favorite run on Sabrina the Teenage Witch
, a natural match for Holly - a practicing witch!
In 2000 the duo turned their attention to the indie scene and launched BroadSword Comics. Their flagship title Tarot: Witch of the Black Rose will be celebrating a whopping 125 issues at the end of this year. The pair collaborate on the series with Jim writing, drawing the interiors and covers, while Holly colors, letters and handles production for the character inspired by her.Get Yours Now!
