Star Wars: The Bad Batch is getting a Season 2 after an announcement ahead of the Season 1 finale tonight.

Fans of the Disney+ original are through the moon after seeing the news on social media. When the animated series was announced, fans were excited to see what the creative team would do with this space between the prequel trilogy and the original films.

Bad Batch follows Star Wars Rebels, Solo: A Star Wars Story, and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story all fall into the same sort of space as well. Fans have been happy to watch the unit blossom into their own memorable family over the course of this first season.

An added surprise for big fans of Star Wars has been the presence of some of those Rebels characters here as the season progressed. Hera Syndulla, Chopper, and Kanan Jarrus all got a little bit of the spotlight. (via ComicBook.com)

Part 1 of the two-part finale of Season 1 of Star Wars: The Bad Batch will be available to stream tonight at midnight (PST), only on Disney+.

cobra kai

Variety reports that the fourth season of Cobra Kai will premiere in December on Netflix.

“Fasten your gi, tighten your belt. Karate is coming to the world’s biggest stage,” the voiceover in a teaser for Season 4 of the Emmy-nominated comedy series says.

While the teaser is referring to the All Valley Karate Tournament, technically the show itself has already brought karate to one of the largest global stages in Netflix.

Cobra Kai, which is a continuation of the beloved 1980s Karate Kid franchise, originally premiered in 2018 as a part of YouTube Premium’s lineup. When that service got out of the originals game, Netflix acquired the first two seasons as library content and then greenlit third and fourth seasons anew.

Thomas Lennon - 'A Futile and

Thomas Lennon is developing the animated comedy The Post Guard at Fox, Variety reports.

The series is described as a workplace adventure comedy following the rag tag crew of humans, turtles, seals and mermaids at the secretive, and often overlooked mashup of the Coast Guard and Post Office, as they scour the high seas to find and deliver messages in bottles, while settling who among them is in charge of the ship’s menial tasks, like resetting the WiFi.

Fox has ordered a presentation for the project. Lennon will write and executive produce, with Peter Principato also executive producing. Fox Entertainment will produce along with Bento Box Entertainment.

Lennon has been in demand at Fox for some time, going back to his starring role in the comedy pilot Dan the Weatherman in 2018. He also starred in the Fox pilot Richard Lovely and appeared as Leo Getz in the Fox series adaptation of Lethal Weapon. He is best known for co-creating and starring in the Comedy Central mockumentary series Reno 911! That series was recently revived at Quibi before moving over to Roku Channel when Quibi folded. The revival was nominated for best short-form comedy series at the Emmys in 2020, with the show currently up in the same category at this year’s Emmys. The show also inspired the feature film Reno 911: Miami in 2007.

'THE SHINING' OFFSHOOT SERIES 'OVERLOOK' NOT GOING FORWARD AT HBO MAX

Source: Deadline | Categories: MIsc | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a Comment

Deadline reports that HBO Max has opted not to proceed with Overlook, the drama project from J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot Prods. inspired by Stephen King’s The Shining. The company and studio Warner Bros. Television are shopping the show, which is expected to land at a new home soon, with Netflix a likely destination.

Reps for Bad Robot, WBTV and Netflix declined comment.

Overlook was part of the inaugural Bad Robot slate at HBO Max under the company’s mega 2019 deal with WarnerMedia, which was commissioned by the previous regimes at the streamer.

HBO Max brass reportedly liked the project but felt it was not a fit for them at this time. Bad Robot has an expansive existing slate at HBO/HBO Max with current series Westworld on HBO and upcoming series Demimonde on HBO and Duster and Subject to Change at HBO Max. The company just sold Fledgling to HBO for development.
MIRKA ANDOLFO’S 'SWEET PAPRIKA' #2 TEASES VARIANT COVERS TO SPICE UP SEPTEMBER

Mirka Andolfo’s highly anticipated Sweet Paprika #2 sizzles with steamy variant covers by Stjepan Šejić, Guillem March, and Andrew Hickinbottom set to catch reader attention this September.

"I'm always thrilled when I see my characters through the eyes of artists I love, and after the amazing variant covers I had on Sweet Paprika #1, it's so great to have three artists I adore, respect, and who are also friends, like Stjepan, Guillem and Andrew," said Andolfo. "I think all of them illustrated Paprika with originality, and I am in love with their artworks!"

The highly anticipated Sweet Paprika became an instant bestseller when issue #1 sold out at the distributor level upon release and became the highest launch to date of any of Andolfo's creator-owned series. Orders on the title exceed those of the much buzzed about Mercy #1 and Unnatural #1 and the 12-issue series is planned as part of a cross-media project alongside animation from Grey Ladder Productions, Arancia Studio, and Wild Sheep Content, with Director Gabriele Pennacchioli (Emmy Award winner in 2019 for Love, Death & Robots).

In Sweet Paprika #2, Paprika finds herself in a difficult situation when her father's illness and the complex work situation that awaits her both compete for her attention. And the only kind of business she’s not really able to handle: a dinner where being dynamic, kind, and relaxed is just as important as being competent. But there is also another reason why the young and skilled professional is in trouble: she doesn't want to see one of the guests again...

Sweet Paprika is perhaps best described as Bridget Jones’s Diary meets Sex and the City, with a pinch of The Devil Wears Prada and provides readers with a sultry, romantic romp.

Mirka Andolfo’s Sweet Paprika #1, second printing (Diamond Code MAY210023) will be available at comic book shops on Wednesday, August 25.

Filming has officially wrapped on 2007’s Enchanted sequel Disenchanted, Disney Plus Informer reports.

The news was shared by the film’s director, Adam Shankman, on Instagram.

Disenchanted will return to the story of Giselle (Amy Adams), the animated princess who found her way into the live-action world of New York City. While plot details are essentially unknown, we do know that Patrick Dempsey, James Marsden, and Idina Menzel are also returning for the film. Maya Rudolph, Yvette Nicole Brown, and Jayma Mays have all been cast as the film's villains, and Gabriella Baldacchino has been cast as the older version of Morgan Philip, the daughter of Dempsey's character from the original film.

The film is slated to hit Disney+ in 2022.
GUILLERMO DEL TORO'S 'PINOCCHIO' REBOOT REPORTEDLY DELAYED

Guillermo del Toro's 'Pinocchio' Netflix Movie: Everything we know so far - What's on Netflix

Announced back in 2018 by Netflix, the wait for Guillermo del Toro's stop-motion Pinocchio movie could have just gotten even longer.

Matt Neglia of Next Best Picture brings word of the news, tweeting that the animated movie has seemingly been delayed from a 2021 debut to 2022. Though the reporter didn't reveal the reason for the film potentially being pushed back, it's possible that del Toro and Netflix didn't want to overcrowd his own Oscar prospects. Del Toro's Nightmare Alley, a new live-action film he directed from Searchlight Pictures, is set for December 3 of this year and is sure to have Oscar buzz (like Pinocchio could have too).

Netflix previously confirmed the cast for del Toro's version of the classic tale which has newcomer Gregory Mann voicing Pinocchio, plus Ewan McGregor as Cricket, and David Bradley as Gepetto. Others confirmed to be in the film are Tilda Swinton, Christoph Waltz, Finn Wolfhard, Cate Blanchett, John Turturro, Ron Perlman, Tim Blake Nelson, and Burn Gorman.

Del Toro and Patrick McHale wrote the script which features song lyrics by del Toro and Katz. Gris Grimly created the original design for the Pinocchio character while the film’s puppets were built by Mackinnon and Saunders (Corpse Bride). (via ComicBook.com)
PARAMOUNT+ ORDERS 14 'SOUTH PARK' MOVIES, SERIES RENEWED THROUGH 2027

SOUTH PARK

South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have set an expansive new deal with ViacomCBS’ MTV Entertainment Studios that calls for the pair to produce 14 movies for Paramount+ based on the enduring Comedy Central animated franchise.

The pact also renews South Park as a series for Comedy Central through its 30th season in 2027.

“Matt and Trey are world-class creatives who brilliantly use their outrageous humor to skewer the absurdities of our culture and we are excited to expand and deepen our long relationship with them to help fuel Paramount+ and Comedy Central,” said Chris McCarthy, president-CEO of MTV Entertainment and chief content officer of adult animation for Paramount+. “Franchising marquee content like South Park and developing new IP with tremendous talent like Matt and Trey, is at the heart of our strategy to continue growing Paramount+.”

The new deal with Parker and Stone reflects the hunt by media majors for broad-based content deals with notable producers with high-wattage properties. South Park has been a pillar of Comedy Central since 1997. In 2019 ViacomCBS licensed older seasons of the show to HBO Max in a deal valued at $500 million. That deal raised eyebrows at the time given that ViacomCBS has its own streaming ambitions. (via Variety)
