Out of the ice and into the fire! Eisner-nominated writer Chip Zdarsky (Daredevil) and superstar artist Valerio Schiti (Avengers) launch an all-new run of CAPTAIN AMERICA this July, and today, fans can see all the covers for the highly anticipated debut issue.

The upcoming run opens with an adventure set just after Steve Rogers emerged from frozen suspended animation, but before he joined the Avengers. Returning to this pivotal moment in Marvel Comics history will reveal developments that will forever alter how the world views Captain America's legacy. Following this game-changing arc, the series will shift to the present-day where Captain America will deal with a new threat tied to this earlier secret conflict.

Main covers come from acclaimed artist Ben Harvey while variant covers come from series artist Schiti, who also contributes a Design Variant Cover showcasing Cap’s new suit, along with superstar artists Frank Miller and Pablo Villalobos. Series writer Zdarsky also delivers a bold variant cover of his own.

In addition, get patriotic with a Hidden Gem cover featuring John Romita Sr.’s iconic artwork from Marvel’s 1976 Bicentennial Calendar as well as Luciano Vecchio’s recreation of the classic art in a 250th Homage Variant Cover. A Hidden Gem variant cover by John Romita Jr. is also available. Plus, Nick Bradshaw takes inspiration from a bygone era with one of the month’s eye-catching Retrovision Covers. And the latest Marvel Rivals Variant Cover by NetEase Games spotlights artwork of Captain America’s design from the hit game.

While Captain America slumbered in ice, the world changed - for better and for worse. Steve Rogers awakens to a reality where battles are fought in the shadows through secrets and subterfuge, and villains aren't so easy to identify. When a fledgling dictator named Victor Von Doom conquers Latveria, Steve faces a critical decision: adapt to a new kind of warfare, or forge his own path? And what will the choice he makes in the past mean for his future? Experience the untold tale of Captain America's first encounter with Doctor Doom!

"I’m having a blast,” Zdarsky said. “I’ve got the same feeling as I did when I started Daredevil, where each issue felt incredibly special, so I hope people feel the same way when they finally get to read it. Our first arc may be set in the past but it’s going to reveal some huge things that will affect the book going forward.”

NEW GRAPHIC NOVEL 'TIM BURTON’S THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS: LONG LIVE THE PUMPKIN QUEEN' HITS SHELVES IN JUNE

© DisneyThis summer a new nightmare comes to Halloween Town! The iconic film Disney Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas makes its way to comics once more with an all-new graphic novel. Disney Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas: Long Live the Pumpkin Queen hits shelves this June.

Based on the New York Times best-selling novel by Shea Ernshaw, the graphic novel of Long Live the Pumpkin Queen will offer a unique visual experience and translation of its already beloved story for fans. Acclaimed author Liz Marsham handles the adaptation, distilling a novel into an exciting and haunting graphic narrative. She's a fan-favorite veteran of Disney's library of stories and worlds, working on projects like Disney Princess: Ariel and the Sea Wolf. She's joined by the artistic duo of Alessio Petillo and Ismael Canales, masterfully bringing the timeless characters of the film and novel to the comic page. Last but certainly not least, comics legend Jill Thompson (Sandman, Scary Godmother) illustrates the hauntingly beautiful cover.

"I really enjoyed the opportunity to work on this compelling story,” said writer Liz Marsham. “Shea Ernshaw wrote everything I could have needed: a compelling story about iconic characters I have loved as a fan for decades, an exciting mix of the settings we know and gorgeously-described new landscapes, enthralling action, an emotional journey that is both fantastical and deeply relatable, and, of course, the delightfully spooky vibes we all associate with Halloween Town. It was a pleasure to help add a new dimension to an already rich tale, and the art team has done a wonderful job bringing it all to life."

Jack and Sally seem like the perfect couple — but all is not well in their colorful home of Halloween Town! As the graphic novel starts, after escaping the domineering clutches of Dr. Finkelstein and marrying Jack, her true love, Sally is officially the Pumpkin Queen of the realm. As much as she loves her skeletal husband and closest friends, the imposing public spotlight and weight of her newfound royal responsibilities feel like a new form of captivity.

Everything begins to unravel and spool out of control when Sally and trusty ghost dog Zero discover a hidden doorway leading to the previously unknown Dream Town. As worlds collide, the resulting cascade of calamities risk jeopardizing her new position as the Pumpkin Queen, and the very foundations of her world!

To save her beloved home, and find her place and comfort within it, Sally will have to summon all the strength within her seams — with Zero to help — or else the future could become a nightmare without Halloween!

Disney Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas: Long Live the Pumpkin Queen The Graphic Novel features spooky and endearing visuals, exciting new characters, and a pivotal tale for Sally, the heartfelt character in the franchise.

Released in 1993, Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas instantly became one of the most iconic films of Disney's storied history. Produced and devised by the legendary filmmaker Tim Burton, the film and its beloved characters have translated to countless media and merchandising channels. Among those is the original young adult novel by Shea Ernshaw, Disney Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas: Long Live the Pumpkin Queen, released in 2022.

Fans will not want to miss this exciting new vision of their favorites!

'IRONHEART' SHOW MAKES MCU HISTORY WITH OFFICIAL LOGO

Source: The Direct | Categories: Marvel | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a Comment

MCU's upcoming 2025 streaming series, Ironheart, just made franchise history with the debut of a new logo.

The forthcoming Disney+ show will follow Dominique Thorne's Riri Williams back in the super-powered franchise for the first time since Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The new series, executive produced by Black Panther director Ryan Coogler, has long been in the works at Marvel Studios, with its debut set initially for late 2023. Because of this, fans have sat with the show much longer than many other MCU titles, meaning they have seen the various changes it has undergone.

Ironheart recently debuted its fourth new logo for the series, marking the first time an MCU Disney+ series has used four distinct logos before its eventual release. The new logo takes the hammered metal heart seen in several prior iterations of the show's marketing, with a new title treatment splayed across the front of it.

Since its first announcement in 2020, Ironheart has had several different logo looks, going from a fairly Iron Man-inspired red and gold to nailing down the metal heart look a year later and then iterating on that several times since then. (via The Direct)

The Mexican director will also explain the mechanics of Bruce McDonald’s Pontypool (2008), and Kyle Edward Ball’s feature directorial debut, Skinamarink (2022) for their own visual and emotional impacts on audiences. (via The Hollywood Reporter)

CARTOONIST SHAWN KURUNERU GOES GUNS BLAZING FOR 'CAVE GRAVE: WILD WEST TALES'
05/28/25 @ 6:00 pm EST
Source: Oni Press | Categories: Oni Press | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a Comment

Oni Press is proud to announce CAVE GRAVE: WILD WEST TALES – a powerful and powerburned collection of two previously self-published graphic novellas written and illustrated by acclaimed cartoonist and fast-rising star Shawn Kuruneru. Recently making Oni Press debut as the artist of THE GODDAMN TRAGEDY (with writer Chris Condon), Kuruneru is a Montreal-based writer/artist who also appeared in series including Fishflies (with writer/artist Jeff Lemire) and Black Hammer: Colonel Weird & Little Andromeda (with writer Tate Brombal). Slated for release as a uniquely sized and specially designed hardcover collection in March 2026, CAVE GRAVE: WILD WEST TALES will mark the first widely available solo collection of work from one of the most closely watched cartoonists in the industry today.

CAVE GRAVE: WILD WEST TALES features two startling stories of double-crossing desperation and hopeless humanity set against a backdrop of the lawless Wild West. In Cave Grave, the art of double-crossing is taken to a new extreme as three struggling thieves attempt to pull off the heist of a lifetime—only to realize they’ve stolen more than they bargained for. In Poor Moon, a cowboy searching for purpose turns to bounty hunting. Catch, return, reward—it’s simple, until he picks up a bounty that’ll change his life forever…

CAVE GRAVE collects two Western stories, Cave Grave and Poor Moon,” said Kuruneru. “Cave Grave starts as a straightforward heist story that follows outlaw brothers Jimmy and Harv, and their friend the ruthless Jacky Boy. After stealing a mysterious satchel, the thieves hide in a cave where they discover a creature lurking in the shadows and must overcome their greed to make it out alive. Then, in Poor Moon, an ex-soldier turned bounty hunter named Held yearns for peace. One last big score sets him on a journey searching for the wanted Cassie the killer. The closer Held gets to Cassie, the more he is pulled into a world of violence and murder.”

“Shawn’s gorgeous, evocative art will take you back to the Wild West at its most desperate, its most greedy, and its most tragic,” said editor Megan Brown. “A stunning look at the vastness of the environment and those struggling to make a name within it, these stories will leave you wanting more—and we’re so excited for folks to be able to experience them soon in comic shops and bookstores.”

“I love drawing the Western environment and wanted to write crime stories in the vein of Alfred Hitchcock—psychological edge, unexpected twists, and a focus on the characters' internal struggles and paranoia,” added Kuruneru. “These two stories deal with a constant desire for wealth and power, and how that obsession can manifest into something monstrous.”

Saddle up and get ready to ride to the edge of your seat when Shawn Kuruneru’s CAVE GRAVE: WILD WESTERN TALES arrives in comic shops and book stores everywhere on March 3, 2026!

RALPH MACCHIO ON RETURNING TO 'KARATE KID' FILMS, FUTURE OF FRANCHISE

9 Quick Questions for Ralph Macchio Members Only Access

Ralph Macchio is back on the big screen in a Karate Kid film, a place he hasn’t been in 36 years.

Macchio starred as Daniel LaRusso in The Karate Kid 1, 2 and 3 in the ’80s, before sitting out 1994’s The Next Karate Kid and 2010’s The Karate Kid remake. He reprised his role in six seasons of Cobra Kai and is now back for Karate Kid: Legends, starring alongside Jackie Chan, who appeared in the 2010 film.

At the Legends premiere in New York this week, Macchio told The Hollywood Reporter that his decision to return to the films came after many discussions with the studio, as “I was in the middle of Cobra Kai and we were still finishing that story, so I wanted to know where it was landing in Daniel LaRusso’s narrative and his evolution. And once we figured out it was three years later and we landed him in the series [as] kind of the best version of himself through his little midlife crisis of the Cobra Kai soap opera, there’s an element of him being more Miyagi in his way and paying that legacy forward to a kid who needs his help.”

There was also the appeal of connecting his films with Chan’s, with the link that Chan’s character Mr. Han knew Daniel LaRusso’s teacher Mr. Miyagi, in a way that “that feels authentic and honors the legacy of the entire franchise, and I think we do that,” Macchio said.

Karate Kid: Legends hits theaters on Friday.
NEW 'SUPERMAN' MOVIE MERCH SPOILS A MAJOR VILLAIN TWIST
05/28/25 @ 5:29 pm EST
Source: The Direct | Categories: DC | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a Comment

The wait for superhero movies always feels endless. There are countless trailers, TV spots, and posters that act as appetizers for a main course that can't come soon enough. However, marketing can go too far, such as with the latest merchandise for James Gunn's Superman, which seemingly spoils a major twist ahead of the movie's July 11 release date.

The spoiler comes from the latest wave of Funko Pop! figures for the DCU movie. While most of the collectibles are harmless, including the ones for Mister Terrific and Guy Gardner, the Hammer of Boravia figure is where things take a turn. The number associated with Pop! is 583, which is shared with Ultraman, seemingly confirming that the characters are one and the same.

Those unfamiliar with the inner workings of Funko Pop! figures will probably balk at the idea of toys spoiling such a significant part of Superman. However, the Chase sticker on Ultraman's box is a dead giveaway because they only appear on Funko products that are alternate versions of another.

Of course, until Superman hits theaters, this is all speculation. (via The Direct)

'DEADPOOL/BATMAN' #1 ARRIVES IN COMIC SHOPS THIS SEPTEMBER

Source: Marvel | Categories: Marvel | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a Comment

Marvel’s Merc with a Mouth meets DC’s Dark Knight this September in MARVEL/DC: DEADPOOL/BATMAN #1, the first of two crossovers between Marvel and DC more than twenty years in the making! Produced by Marvel, DEADPOOL/BATMAN #1 will be followed by BATMAN/DEADPOOL #1, produced by DC and on sale this November.

DEADPOOL/BATMAN #1 will be written by prolific Spider-Man comics writer and co-writer for Marvel Studios’ Deadpool & Wolverine Zeb Wells and drawn by industry superstar Greg Capullo, an artist with an incredible legacy at both legendary comic book companies, with influential work on Batman and X-Men titles. In addition to the main story, the one-shot will feature a lineup of jaw-dropping backup adventures, each featuring Marvel and DC character match ups that are sure to thrill every comic book fan! More details on these backup stories and their creative teams will be shared at a later date.

It’s the crossover you never expected but always wanted! Deadpool and Batman cross swords and batarangs as Marvel and DC unite for the first time in decades! Wade Wilson has been hired for a job in Gotham City, but will the World’s Greatest Detective help him or destroy him?

“After writing Amazing Spider-Man for 60 issues, I told Marvel I needed a break. Marvel told me I could do that or I could write a comic starring Deadpool and Batman with the best Batman artist of our generation. I no longer needed a break,” Wells said. “In Batman we've found someone who has even less time for Deadpool's antics than Wolverine, but a city-wide threat from the Joker makes strange bedfellows (literally, if Deadpool had his way). It's been a blast letting Deadpool loose in Gotham City and watching what happens.”

“Am I dreaming? This crossover is likely to be the high point of my career...and, I’ve had a great career,” Capullo added. “Some of my earliest work (many years ago) was on X-Force, so Deadpool and I go way back. More recently, I spent 10-plus years drawing Batman at DC. The idea that I get to do a crossover event with Deadpool and Batman...If I am dreaming, please don’t wake me!”

Check out Capullo’s main cover and stay tuned for more news about DEADPOOL/BATMAN #1 in the weeks ahead.
