DYNAMIC FORCES LANDS EXCLUSIVE BATTLE OF THE PLANETS LICENSE!
RUNNEMEDE, NJ—Whether you know them as Gatchaman, G-Force, or Battle of the Planets, Mark, Jason, Princess, Tiny and Keyop were the animated heroes of a generation of kids in the '70s, and now, Dynamic Forces will be bringing them to a line of exclusive, collectible merchandise including T-shirts, lunchboxes, lithographs and trading cards.

Based in their secret headquarters under the Pacific, the G-Force would regularly go into battle against the evil forces of Spectra, waving their hands to transmute their regular clothing into their bird-like uniforms. For many kids, Battle of the Planets was one of the first tastes of Japanese animation - one such kid was Alex Ross, who will be painting one of the upcoming lithographs, as well as providing the art for several of the cards in the set.

"I can say that Battle of the Planets was such an inspiration in my childhood that most of my self-created superheroes were born of their inspiration, Ross said. "Even years later, when I would take my same characters and try to change them over time, I would find that those influences from G-Force were still having an impact on me and my work.

"Not only will working on the cards provide me with the opportunity beyond the lithographs to draw the characters in and out of costume in singular focus, portrait style. I'll also be working with a host of other artists who will also bring their own approaches to the characters, and these are characters that have generally not been seen by the American audience for almost twenty years. Nothing has been done with them of this type before. As they're extremely popular throughout the rest of the world, it's a sheer oddity that they haven't made a larger impact here in America in recent years."

Given that Battle of the Planets is unique in that it hasn't been overexposed to an American audience, there is very little licensed Battle of the Planets merchandise available for both the casual and discriminating collector. In that sense, Dynamic Forces is thrilled to be working with Ross on this license, which will expose Battle of the Planets to a whole new generation of fans while giving fans of the original series a chance to relive their childhood memories, envisioned by one of today's living comic book legends, Alex Ross, and a host of other artists.

The first Battle of the Planets lithograph by Ross will debut at this weekend's WizardWorld Chicago at the Rosemont Convention Center. Visit “Team Dynamic Forces” at booth 611. The six-card Battle of the Planets preview set is due to ship in November, T-shirts will be available in December, and the premiere trading card series, featuring all-new artwork by Ross and a host of other artists will go on sale in March of 2002.
