When the
man owns the company and wants a column, he gets a column and
this week, Nick takes us through his top picks from his most
recent visit to the comic book store. "Going to the local comic
store this week here are five books that really stood out to
me, that were really worth buying. If you haven't picked up
these books you really should consider them as they were worth
buying and worth reading."
Marvel:
The End. I picked up issue #3 with Dr. Doom on
the cover and this book shows that Jim Starlin continues
to have the magic and continues to be one of comic's premiere
writer/artists. If you haven't picked this series up,
definitely go pick it up at your local comic store or
you can wait for the trade paperback if you can't get
issue #1 or #2. But definitely, definitely worth the read!
Darkness
#3. This is a great mixture of horror and superheroes.
Paul Jenkins is definitely one of the best writers in
comics and he proves it again with this issue. Dale Keown
is one of the most accomplished artists in the 'biz --
only being trumped (ever-so slightly, heh) by Marc Silvestri
-- at Top Cow. Issue #3 is one of the better stories you
can read (but then I'm biased because a lot of the action
happened in my house!), but it's a fantastic story and
everybody should pick it up -- and go back and get issues
#1 and #2 if you haven't.
Powers.
One of the most incredible books out there! Brian Michael
Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming definitely compliment each
other! 'Nuff Said!
Nightwing
#80. Devin Grayson and Rick Leonardi (with Jesse
Delperdang) just give you the complete and ultimate Nightwing
with Deathstroke popping up -- this just doesn't get better!
A great jumping on point for all fans!
Transformers
Generation One, Volume Two #1. Hey, just read
it via the DF cover (Bill Sienkiewicz and Jose Villarrubia
did a FANTASTIC job on that cover. The ball is still
sailing out of the park on that one). Pat Lee proves
that he is the cornerstone of Dreamwave! Don't miss
out fans! This is one to get! It's got a great story
and wait 'till you see what Shockwave does to Megatron!
Seeing will be believing. This issue is more than meets
the eye!
Next Week: Nick travels to New York to check out X2:
X-Men United with the Marvel Crew!
