PETER DAVID SPIDER-MAN 2099 INTERVIEW!

Sure, he can do whatever a spider can. But that is the least of Miguel O’Hara’s concerns these days.

“These days” being the current present day of the Marvel Universe, certainly not the dark future world from which Miguel came.

Thus it is that original Spider-Man 2099 writer Peter David returns to the scene of the crime when in July he again pens the adventures of a Spidey from the future, now here in the 616.

To get to the webs out of our collective head, we pinned the legendary scribe down and picked his brain about the new book, his health and more.

Dynamic Forces: Peter, you came back twice to X-Factor. Now you have come back to Spider-Man 2099. What brought you on board the latest iteration of this character?

Peter David: I'd love to tell you there's some sexy story involved, but it was as simple as Ellie Pyle, my editor, calling me and asking me if I'd be interested in writing the book. I said sure.

Dynamic Forces: Tell us a little about Miguel O'Hara and the situation in which he now finds himself.

Peter David: He's a man out of time. He desperately wants to get back to 2099, but he's currently stuck in the modern day world. However, he sees this as an opportunity to perhaps do some good by working at the newly formed Alchemax and perhaps having an impact on what the company eventually becomes.

Dynamic Forces: Let us get rid of the elephant on the web first: any idea how long it will be before Miguel meets his idol and namesake, Spidey AKA Peter Parker?

Peter David: The Spider-Verse saga!

Dynamic Forces: So what's up first for the out-of-time Spider-Man?

Peter David: He'll get an apartment, meet an interesting young woman, and find himself the target of a guy from the future whose job is to remove Spidey from our timeline.  Unfortunately that means blowing him out of existence.

Dynamic Forces: Can you tell us about any supporting characters, always paramount to any Spidey?

Peter David: A fascinating young woman named Tempest who has her own problems that she has to deal with. And then there's the cast of Alchemax, Tiberius Stone and Liz Allen who will wind up intersecting with Miguel's life in interesting ways.

Dynamic Forces: And the first big-bad up will be...?

Peter David: The Adjustor, a member of TOTEM who's armed to deal with anything that Miguel will toss on him.

Dynamic Forces: PAD, you are notorious for skirting "events." Nevertheless, as you just said, Miguel will indeed be part of the announced Spider,-Verse event later this year. So how will that work in with your plans, if so?

Peter David: Yes, definitely. My understanding is that there will be a big Spidey get together in which we work out the various beats, so I should know more later.

Dynamic Forces: What does artist Will Sliney bring to the table? Are you a fan?

Peter David: A terrific art style and he really nails the action sequences.

Dynamic Forces: Peter, your fans have been concerned about your health and have marveled over your return. How is PAD doing today?

Peter David: Fine. How are you?

Dynamic Forces: (lol) Doing OK. Are there any projects current or future you'd care to discuss?

Peter David: I have a new novel coming out in July entitled Artful: The Previously Untold Tale of the Artful Dodger, Hunter of Vampyres Amongst Other Things. It's being published by Amazon Books, so be sure to check it out.
