JOE QUESADA TALKS HISTORY AND MARVEL EDITORIAL AT GRAPHIC NYC

Graphic NYC has posted an interview with Marvel EIC Joe Quesada this week where he explains his career path from comic fan to eventual Marvel editorial mogul. In the interview, Quesada explains, among other things, the reasoning for editorial decisions like Spider-Man's "Brand New Day" storyline.

"'Whenever we do something at Marvel, it doesn’t matter if something you do is the right thing to f---ing do, which is eliminate smoking from our books,' Quesada pointedly says. 'You’d think that would be met with ‘Huzzah! Great! Thank you!’ When you read it online, you’d think every fan hates the concept. I don’t think so, because it’s the right thing to do. What happens is that people who have a gripe like to go online with three or four different identities and make it seem like there’s a mob with torches at our doorstep, but there isn’t. When I go to conventions, they’re not there.'"

Quesada also chats with Graphic NYC about his start in the business, Marvel's move to producing more trade paperbacks and their successful film initiative.

MTV Splash Page reports that the Twitterverse is afloat with reports straight from the set of "Thor" from none other than Marvel Editor-in-Chief Joe Quesada and the writer of everything "Avengers" Brian Michael Bendis.

“I could listen to Branagh talk about ‘Thor’ all day long,” related Quesada on Twitter. “Cast is in place, sets are being built and screenplay is brilliant. Marveldom rules!”

“Thor movie meeting with Ken Branagh was over the top amazing. Visited the sets! I was in Odin's chamber," tweeted Bendis.

Marvel recently announced the casting of The Warriors Three on Marvel.com having Ray Stevenson, Stuart Townsend, and Tadanobu Asano join the cast of Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Anthony Hopkins as Odin, Tom Hiddleston as Loki and Natalie Portman as Jane Foster.

Jamie Alexander has also been cast as the Lady Sif, while Com Feore and Stellan Skarsgard are attached to the project, but do not have confirmed roles.

The Hollywood Reporter posts that movie studio Mandalay has picked up the rights to produce a feature film based on Boom! Studios' action-thriller comic "Unthinkable".

Written by comics veteran Mark Sable, "Unthinkable" deals with a genius recruited into a government think tank after the events of 9/11 to come up with the most impossible, wild scenarios for attacks on U.S. soil. Years after the project is disovled, the unthinkable attacks begin to occur - and the only one who can stop them is that same recruit.

According to THR, the book’s subject caused trouble this year for Sable when he was stopped by Los Angeles International Airport TSA employees who came across the script for one of the issues.

MTV Splash Page has just posted an interview with comic legend Stan Lee about his cameo in the upcoming "Thor" film and his conversation with director Kenneth Branaugh.

"I had lunch with Branagh, [who's] the nicest guy in the world as well as the most talented," Lee told Splash Page. "Months ago, when he was first starting on the movie, he said he would get a cameo for me."

This is one of a number of cameos for Lee, who has had passing roles in most of Marvel's major films and media projects including "Spider-Man", "Fantastic Four" and "Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2".

WARRIORS THREE CAST IN 'THOR' FILM

Marvel.com has revealed the newest cast members of the upcoming "Thor" film - the Warriors Three!

"Fandral, Hogun and Volstagg, longtime friends and fellow Asgardians who usually work together as a team known as the Warriors Three, are Thor’s allies and companions," reports the website. "Fandral will be played by Stuart Townsend. The job of Hogun goes to Tadanobu Asano. And Volstagg will be portrayed Ray Stevenson."

Townsend, Asano and Stevenson join the already-cast actors of "Thor" including Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tom Hiddleston as Loki and Natalie Portman as Jane Foster.

WARREN ELLIS' 'GLOBAL FREQUENCY' FINDS A HOME ON THE CW

MTV Splash Page reports that the Warren Ellis comic masterpiece "Global Frequency" television adaptation has been confirmed by both The CW and Ellis himself. This is the second time "Global Frequency" has been attempted for television on The CW, the first being in 2005 when a pilot was filmed starring Michelle Forbes as leader of Global Frequency, Miranda Zero. The new show will be penned by writer Scott Nimerfro.

"I've spoken briefly to Scott Nimerfro — by which I mean I threatened to have him stabbed, and he thanked me and told me a funny story about how he's had worse threats — and he is Okay," Ellis said on his website.
