This Winter will see the release of Mercy Sparx issue #13, the long awaited return of the ongoing series, and follow-up to the companion miniseries Mercy Sparx: Year One. Joining creator Josh Blaylock is new co-writer Pat Shand, co-creator of the latest Devil’s Due Comics hit horror title, Little Girl.

Blaylock and Shand will bring to a close the epic story of Mercy’s final showdown with her mother, Faustia. A plot that was carefully teased and unveiled by Blaylock over the last several years.

“I’ve never let anyone else touch Mercy when it comes to our canon stories,” said Blaylock, “But as picky as I can be about how we portray her personality and character, Pat totally ‘gets’ Mercy Sparx.”

“Mercy Sparx is everything I look for in a comic as a reader, so I’m thrilled to join Josh as co-writer. From Mercy’s cast of unique characters to the unique mythology, we’ve got a lot to explore, and a lot of fun comics to create”

Stay tuned for an announcement on the series artists and specifics on the schedule in weeks to come.

The series will return through a combination of limited, internationally released exclusive retailer editions, Kickstarters, and standard Diamond release throughout North America.

KIM DWINELL ANNOUNCES SURFSIDE GIRLS SEQUEL FOR 2019

Source: IDW | Categories: IDW | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a Comment
Top Shelf Productions announced today that Surfside Girls, Kim Dwinell’s celebrated graphic novel series for middle-grade readers about friendship, fun, and lost mysteries of the local landscape, will receive a full-length sequel next summer.

Surfside Girls (Book One): The Secret of Danger Point introduced readers to best friends Sam and Jade, who put together clues ranging from suspicious beachcombers to spooky ghosts to baby dinosaurs in order to save their town from an unexpected threat. Surfside Girls (Book Two): The Mystery at the Old Rancho, scheduled for June 2019, presents even more beautiful beaches, hidden secrets, distracting cuties, and wild adventures:

When one of the ghosts from Danger Point gets… spooked, it’s time for Sam and Jade to pull out the Journal of Weird and jump into action! Trying to solve this two-hundred-year-old mystery takes the girls all over their town and beyond, all while Surfside’s Annual Surf Competition is going on. Add to the mix a cute surfer boy, a mysterious mustached man with a guitar, and a very jealous Sam — can the surfing sleuths save the day again?

“I’ve had so much fun this last year watching readers of all ages discover Sam and Jade’s world,” says author Kim Dwinell. “I packed Surfside Girls with Southern California sunshine, and I hope everyone enjoys spending time with it as much as I do. I'm absolutely stoked to show you what the girls get up to in Book Two!”

Kim Dwinell will meet fans and sign Surfside Girls at Comic-Con International today, Friday July 20th, from 10am-11am and 4pm-5pm in booth 2743 (Top Shelf / IDW Publishing).

THR reports that Johns, who revealed the news during his spotlight panel Thursday, will write and exec produce the 13-episode scripted original series for DC Universe subscription service. The drama hails from Warner Bros. Television and Greg Berlanti's studio-based Berlanti Productions, with Sarah Schechter also serving as an exec producer. The series will bow in 2019.

The animated series, which last aired in 2008, will get 12 new episodes on the forthcoming Disney streaming service.

And just like that, from a galaxy far, far away, an old friend returns.

THR reports that, 10 years after it last aired, Star Wars: The Clone Wars is returning with new episodes on Disney's forthcoming streaming service.

The news was announced Thursday by Lucasfilm animation chief Dave Filoni during a panel on the show's 10th anniversary at San Diego Comic-Con to huge applause.

"It's an anniversary — it's 10 years," Filoni told the crowd. "And you guys deserve something for being so great — a present, if you will. We got together and thought, 'If there is one thing we could give you, what would it be?'"
