MATT SMITH INTRODUCES A NEW SLAYER IN BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER #3
12/08/18 @ 12:26 pm EST
Source: BOOM! Studios | Categories: Buffy | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a Comment

BOOM! Studios today unveiled one of the main covers to BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER #3 by artist Matt Smith (Jim Henson’s Storyteller, Barbarian Lord), featuring the first appearance of an all new Slayer from times past. The next chapter of the hotly-anticipated series will debut in-stores March 13th, 2019, in partnership with 20th Century Fox Consumer Products.

The reimagining of Joss Whedon's groundbreaking series reaches the penultimate chapter of the first arc as Buffy and the Scooby Gang (the name was Xander’s idea, he’s workshopping it, it probably won’t stick) delve deeper into the heart of Sunnydale’s underbelly—and make a shocking discovery about the true nature of the Hellmouth. Meanwhile, Drusilla – AKA THE MISTRESS – and Spike make the next moves in their deadly plan for the Slayer and the life of one the people closest to her!

Welcome back to the Hellmouth, as Eisner Award-nominated writer Jordie Bellaire (Redlands) and Russ Manning Award-winning artist Dan Mora (Klaus, Saban’s Go Go Power Rangers), along with series creator and story consultant Joss Whedon (the visionary writer/director behind Firefly, Marvel’s The Avengers, and more), reimagine the groundbreaking pop culture phenomenon from the very beginning.

Buffy The Vampire Slayer premiered on the WB Network on March 10th, 1997. The Emmy and Golden Globe-nominated series, which ran for seven seasons from 1997-2003, stars Sarah Michelle Gellar as “Buffy Summers.” Chosen to battle vampires, demons and other forces of darkness, Buffy is aided by a Watcher who guides and teaches her as she surrounds herself with a circle of friends called the “Scooby Gang.”

BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER #3 features main covers by fan favorite artist Kevin Wada (She-Hulk) and acclaimed Mondo illustrator Matthew Taylor, along with a variant cover by horror illustrator Scott Buoncristiano (Dead Rabbit).

“Some folks have guessed it, but I’m excited to officially reveal that every issue of BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER will have a variant cover featuring the first appearance of a previous Chosen One,” said Jeanine Schaefer, Executive Editor, BOOM! Studios. “Matt Smith beautifully introduces a new Viking Slayer that, like the new Slayers on covers to previous issues, may have a larger role in Buffy’s life much sooner than anyone expects.”

BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER is the latest release from BOOM! Studios’ eponymous imprint, home to a world-class group of licensed comic book series and ambitious original series, including Joss Whedon’s Firefly, Lev Grossman’s The Magicians, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Planet of the Apes, Abbott, Mech Cadet Yu, Grass Kings, and Klaus.

Print copies of BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER #3 will be available for sale on March 13th, 2019 exclusively at local comic book shops (use comicshoplocator.com to find the nearest one) or at the BOOM! Studios webstore. Digital copies can be purchased from content providers, including comiXology, iBooks, Google Play, and the BOOM! Studios app.

PLASTIC MAN MOVIE IN THE WORKS AT WARNER BROS.

Source: Hollywood Reporter | Categories: DC | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a Comment

Amanda Idoko will pen the script for the comedic action-adventure film.

THR reports that classic DC Comics hero Plastic Man may soon be on the big screen.

Screenwriter Amanda Idoko has been hired to pen a script for what will be a comedic action-adventure for Warner Bros.

Plastic Man wasn’t initially a DC character, having been created by Jack Cole for Quality Comics in 1941. When Quality went under in 1956, DC bought many of the characters, Plastic Man among them.

The hero’s true identity is Patrick “Eel” O’Brian, a crook-turned-good guy. O’Brian was part of a gang, and during a botched heist is shot and — wouldn’t you know it — also doused with a chemical liquid. Left for dead by the gang, he awakens to find himself imbued with the power to shape-shift and stretch his body into almost anything thanks to being the most malleable man alive. O’Brian eventually reforms and becomes a police officer.

The project is in the early stages and has no filmmaker on board.
DIE FEATURES ROLE-PLAYING GAME TWIST, GREENLIT FOR SECOND PRINTING

Source: Image | Categories: Image | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a Comment

Image Comics is pleased to announce that Die #1has been greenlit for a second printing to keep up with this week’s overwhelming consumer enthusiasm for the new series by New York Times bestselling creator Kieron Gillen (The Wicked + The Divine) and artist Stephanie Hans. Die is Gillen’s first new ongoing series at Image Comics on the tails of The Wicked + The Divine’s success and marks Hans’ debut as a co-creator and series artist.

Die is a pitch-black fantasy where a group of forty-something adults have to deal with the returning unearthly horror they barely survived as teenage role-players. If Kieron’s in a rush, he describes it as “Goth Jumanji.” That only captures a sliver of what you’ll find in the oversized debut issue—where fantasy gets all too real.

Die #1, 2nd printing (Diamond Code OCT188783), Die #2 Cover A by Hans (Diamond Code NOV180129), and Die #2 Cover B by Jana Schirmer (Diamond Code NOV180130) will be available on Wednesday, January 9th. The final order cutoff deadline for comics retailers is Monday, December 10th.

Die #1 is also available for purchase across many digital platforms, including the official Image Comics iOS app, Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, comiXology, and Google Play. Fans can also subscribe to receive the series delivered by mail within the domestic U.S. on Image Direct.
