TEE FRANKLIN SHAKES UP INDUSTRY NORMS & BINGO LOVE IS RUSHED BACK TO PRINT03/21/18 @ 3:18 pm EST
In the Arrowverse, it wasn't Superboy that inspired the rise of the 31st century team the Legion of Super-Heroes. We found out tonight (and here, via ComicBook.com
) that inspiration was SuperGIRL!
Last season "Supergirl" love interest and longtime comics LSH member Mon-El started the group, it is revealed, due to his admiration for Kara. Now in our time, having been rescued from an underground spacecraft an episode or two ago, Saturn Girl (now married to Mon-El) in particular says that not only did Kara's example inspire the creation of the group but it completely changed her life!
Inspiration she may be, but Mon-El's return is turning out to be a heartbreaker for our heroine. And it doesn't look like it's going to get any better!

UNLOCK “PANDORA’S LEGACY” AT BOOM! STUDIOS03/21/18 @ 3:16 pm EST
BINGO LOVE—the original graphic novel created and written by Tee Franklin, with art by Jenn St-Onge, colors by Joy San, and cover art by Genevieve FT—is being rushed back to print yet again by Image Comics to keep up with the momentum of the breakout hit.
Since its release on Valentine’s Day, the LGBTQ romance has flown off shelves—garnering critical acclaim and viral attention across social media.
“Wow! A third printing! I am completely humbled, and my heart is so full at the amount of support Bingo Love
has received since its announcement,” said Franklin. “Bingo Love
has given everyone—from children, adults, to seniors...HOPE. The hope that they can have their happily ever after and that it’s not just for straight people. From the entire Bingo Love
team, we thank you all for your continued support!”
Franklin is a Black, Queer, disabled woman, known in the comics industry as a vocal person of color and advocate for the LGBTQ and disabled community. She is credited for starting the popular hashtag: #BlackComicsMonth, which aims to make comic book fans more aware of talented Black comic creators and their diverse comic book characters and superheroes that already exist in the industry.
Franklin first made waves when her BINGO LOVE title won the 2017 Queer Press Grant and raised almost $60k via Kickstarter. It gained traction in mainstream media for its progressive, LGBTQ-positive narrative.
BINGO LOVE is a story about two Queer, Black women and the love between them that spans decades. It explores the complications of coming out at an older age and how that decision affects their families lives.
Hazel Johnson and Mari McCray are two young, Black girls who meet at church bingo in 1963 and eventually fall in love...but in this time period, their love was not accepted. Hazel and Mari are broken up by their families’ “shame” and go on to marry and have families of their own. Almost 50 years later—in the fever pitch of church bingo—Mari and Hazel are reunited and rediscover the love they have for each other, even though they both are still married.
BINGO LOVE will remain available for purchase across all digital platforms, including the Image Comics website (imagecomics.com), the official Image Comics iOS app, Comixology’s website (comixology.com), iOS, Android, and Google Play.
BINGO LOVE, 3rd printing (Diamond Code DEC170648, ISBN: 978-1-5343-0750-6) and will be available on Wednesday, April 25th.

SIMONSON RETURNS FOR THE 'DEATH OF THE MIGHTY THOR' ARC03/21/18 @ 3:08 pm EST
BOOM! Studios is proud to announcePANDORA’S LEGACY, an all-new original graphic novel from writer Kara Leopard ([Super]natural Attraction
) along with the art duo of Kelly & Nichole Matthews (Jim Henson’s Power of The Dark Crystal
) arriving in stores November 2018. What starts out as a typical family vacation to their grandparents house goes sideways when Charlie, Janet, and Trevor Panagakos accidentally break an old jar that was hidden away deep in the woods….revealing they’re descendants of Pandora and their family’s tasked with protecting a certain famous box. Now on the run, the Panagakos have to figure out how to capture all the monsters that have escaped the jar…and save the rest of their family before it’s too late. Between talking cats, trying not to drop their phone, and making new friends, this is one vacation that these kids will never forget.
Based on the successful Kickstarter campaign featuring a beautifully illustrated field guide to the story’s mythological monsters, PANDORA’S LEGACY brings the creatures to life in this new original graphic novel, with a cover by Kelly & Nichole Matthews.
“PANDORA’S LEGACY combines my love for scary stories, mythology, and family,” said writer Kara Leopard. “It's about younger siblings getting in over their heads. They have to rely on their own resources and knowledge to save the day...with the help of a possessed talking cat, of course. Kelly and Nichole are the perfect team to bring this world to life. Not to mention a story with twins, by twins and drawn by twins just sounds kind of awesome."
"We have wanted to do something with Kara for ages, so when they approached us for PANDORA’S LEGACY we jumped at the chance to work with them" said artists Kelly & Nichole Matthews. “The story includes so many things we love to draw; fantastical creatures, cinematic landscapes and a building mystery. We can’t wait to show everyone how the world and story unfolds."
PANDORA’S LEGACY is the latest release from BOOM! Studios’ critically acclaimed KaBOOM! imprint, publisher of world-class licensed series such asAdventure Time
, Steven Universe
, Over the Garden Wall
, and Rugrats
along with original series like Brave Chef Brianna
by Sam Sykes and Selina Espiritu and The Deep
by Tom Taylor and James Brouwer.
“If there is one thing Kara, Kelly, and Nichole are all passionate about it’s monsters, and they get to show that love off in this amazing all-ages story PANDORA’S LEGACY,” said Whitney Leopard, Editor, BOOM! Studios. “This is a fun story with lots of action, an amazingly detailed world, and talking cats -- it has something for everyone.”

We are now more than honored to partner with the amazing people at Humble Bundle to offer great comics to fans everywhere from the extensive collection of our Dynamite and Dynamic Forces
