WAR OF THE REALMS IS COMING!

Starting in April, the award-winning creative team of Jason Aaron, Russell Dauterman and Matthew Wilson will usher in an event of unparalleled scale! And like the mega-event Secret Wars, no corner of the Marvel Universe will be untouched!

Spanning six issues over three months War of The Realms will feature ALL of Marvel’s biggest heroes, including Iron Man, Thor, The Avengers, the Fantastic Four, Captain Marvel, Amazing Spider-Man, Daredevil, Black Panther, Venom, and many more!

“I have been building towards WAR OF THE REALMS for the entire duration of my Thor run. So we're talking six years and 80-something issues and counting,” teased Jason Aaron. “This is a war that covers the entire globe and involves the biggest heroes of the Marvel Universe, as you can see in this amazing promo piece by my MIGHTY THOR collaborators, Russell Dauterman and Matthew Wilson, who I'm so thrilled to be working with again on WAR OF THE REALMS.”

The 'Thor' storyline spills across the entire comic book universe next year.

BETTIE PAGE'S BEAUTY INSPIRES SKETCH ARTISTS & JERRY LAWLER ON KICKSTARTER
05/22/19 @ 5:13 pm EST
Source: Dynamite | Categories: Dynamite | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a Comment

Dynamite Entertainment announces a Kickstarter for upgraded packaging and contents for the Bettie Page Deluxe Ultra-Premium Sketch Card Collection. Adorers of Bettie's timeless beauty and sketch card fanatics can check out the campaign for great value on packs and boxes, including one-of-a-kind sketch cards and other bonuses! Famed wrestler, commentator, artist and Bettie superfan Jerry "The King" Lawler will not only be featured as an additional card premiering via Kickstarter, but will also be contributing signed and exclusive sketch cards to the set with a unique design!

The Bettie Page Sketch Cards Kickstarter is live now, visit here: BETTIE PAGE DELUXE ULTRA-PREMIUM SKETCH CARD COLLECTION

Following successful and fan-favorite comic book series, Dynamite is bringing Bettie to trading cards! Bettie’s timeless All-American sensuality and playfulness is captured expertly by top-of-the-line artists included in this set including Joseph Michael Linsner, David Williams, John Royle, Scott Chantler and more! Also included are some of the most iconic photographs of the beauty legend. Dynamite will also be bringing in the hottest sketch card artists for thousands of one-of-a-kind exclusive pieces.

The special Jerry Lawler promo card is inspired by the iconic work of 1980s painter Patrick Nagel. This uniquely designed chase card as well as signed versions will be included in a limited number of packs. Including ultra rare Gold Elite Signature Series cards! Backers on Kickstarter for one or more packs are guaranteed one of these cards!

"I've been a Bettie Page fan for a long, long time," said Jerry Lawler. "As an artist myself, I've always been a huge fan of pinup art from models and legends like Gil Elvgren and Olivia. Bettie and I are both from the beautiful state of Tennessee. There was a kind of connection. I was the king of wrestling and she was the queen of the photoshoot! She always seemed special to me. I'm excited about the fact that the Dynamite cards and comic books are letting today's fans get acquainted with an icon like Bettie again or for the first time. It's not just art to me, it's doing a piece for one of my all time favorites. Its a win-win!"

Every individual foil pack includes 2 Base Cards, 2 Sketch Cards, 1 black and white "Peek-a-Boo" card, 1 puzzle card, and 1 autographed card for 7 total cards per pack, with 12 packs per box. The Peek-a-Boo cards are a risqué photo of Bettie and will be black bagged like a full size adult magazine so fans will actually open it to reveal the entirety of the card. Now fans can support the Kickstarter to have every foil pack additionally packaged in individual sturdy cardboard sleeves.

Bettie Page will forever reign as Queen of the Pin-Up and an icon of femininity. Her signature black hair, bangs, sparkling blue eyes and prototypical figure made every man want her and every woman want to be her - and that continues to this day. Some of her more risqué photoshoots and films were whispered legends which garnered one of her other nicknames, The Dark Angel, further cementing her legacy.

Bettie Page's influence on art and comic books knows no bounds either. In the 1970s and '80s, artists across media were inspired by Bettie such as Olivia and Eric Stanton. Innovators of the "good girl" style in the 1950s such as Matt Baker and Bill Ward were surely inspired by Bettie's figure and charm. The comics master Dave Stevens directly based The Rocketeer's girlfriend Betty on her differently spelled namesake.

Another reward tier option for supporters is the critically acclaimed Bettie Page graphic novels by writer David Avallone (Elvira Mistress of the Dark) and artist Colton Worley (Project Superpowers, The Shadow).

Backers who preorder four foil packs or more will be able to choose among a selection of top tier artists to produce exclusive one-of-a-kind sketch cards just for them. Also available are various, one-of-a-kind sketch card puzzle sets of 4,6 and 9 cards.

Bettie Page super fans can consider going all in on higher reward tiers for a full bag of loot. Which includes two full boxes (24 packs), two promo cards, a 9 card puzzle set, the ability to choose their own sketch artists and most exclusive of all - an uncut factory card sheet! The ultimate rare collectible for card collectors.

Dynamite's cream of the crop sketch card artists in this set include Axe, Ken Haeser, Kevin Graham, Mike Lilly, Mitch Ballard, Rich Molinelli, Sanna U, Tim Shay and tons more!

“Bettie Page’s influence on popular culture on so many different levels has lasted for nearly 70 years! I have no doubt that her enviable physique, style and attitude will continue impacting men and women for another 70 years,” said Nick Barrucci. “Creating this card set and bringing in such a diverse pool of artists each offering their own interpretation of Bettie is the perfect way to celebrate this legacy. The fans are going to love all this gorgeous art.”

This Kickstarter campaign is only available for a limited time, so don't miss the chance to get these cards early and with added value! BETTIE PAGE DELUXE ULTRA-PREMIUM SKETCH CARD COLLECTION

'ALADDIN' TO SOAR ABOVE BOX OFFICE COMPETITION OVER MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND

Aladdin

Variety reports that Disney's coming live-action Aladdin is expected to earn a solid $75 million to $85 million when it opens in 4,400 locations over Memorial Day weekend. Should estimates hold, that would rank on the lower end compared to other Disney remakes.

For measure, Jon Favreau’s The Jungle Book debuted with $103 million in 2016, while the Emma Watson-led Beauty and the Beast earned $174 million during its first three days of release. That haul would, however, be a sizable jump on Tim Burton’s Dumbo, the studio’s most recent reimagining that launched with $45 million this March. Aladdin could get a boost overseas after bowing day-and-date in every major international market, aside from Japan.

With Aladdin, Disney is also aiming to prove the strength of its arsenal of classics. It’s the second of the company’s three reboots scheduled to arrive this year, in between Dumbo and The Lion King. The studio has been dipping into its prized vault to mixed success. Beauty and the Beast and The Jungle Book were massive hits, but Dumbo failed to take flight, ending its box office run with $346 million in ticket sales across the globe.
'RIVERDALE' LEAPS OVER 'DEAD TO ME' TO TOP NETFLIX'S MOST-WATCHED LIST IN THE UK

Deadline reports that Riverdale has leapt over Christina Applegate’s Dead To Me to become the most watched Netflix title of the week in the UK.

The CW’s teen drama, which is based on the Archie Comics character, has moved to the top spot. It’s a notable success for the KJ Apa and Lili Reinhart-fronted series, which was recently renewed for a fourth season by the U.S. network.

CBS TV Studios’ Dead To Me, which was number one in last week’s chart, remains in second with The Fate of the Furious, also known as Fast & Furious 8, crashing in at number three following its launch last week.

Minions

Deadline reports that Universal and Illumination have set on a title for the sequel to their hit 2015 animated film Minions, itself a spinoff of the Despicable Me franchise. The latest film, now titled Minions: The Rise of Gru, had already set a July 3, 2020, release date.

The title suggests the plot could be an origin story of sorts involving Gru, the Steve Carell-voiced supervillian who has anchored the franchise since the start in 2010.

Gru appeared as a young boy who eventually plays a big part in the machinations of Minions, which served as an origin story for the little yellow henchmen.

No plot or casting details for the sequel have been confirmed yet.
WILLOW DEALS WITH SACRIFICE IN BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER #7

Source: BOOM! Studios | Categories: MIsc | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a Comment

BOOM! Studios today, in partnership with 20th Century Fox Consumer Products, unveiled three BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER #7covers by Mondo illustrator Marc Aspinall, artist Kevin Wada (She-Hulk), and artist Sonia Liao (Kulipari), available in August 2019.

The Scoobies are in disarray, and after the huge sacrifices she made last issue, Willow is still grappling with the consequences of losing such a monumental piece of her life. Was the sacrifice worth it? Or does this spell the end for the Scooby Gang as Buffy’s friends and family deal with the fallout from recent events and attempt to put the pieces of their lives back together?

Eisner Award-nominated writer Jordie Bellaire (Redlands) and acclaimed artist David López (Captain Marvel), along with series creator and story consultant Joss Whedon (the visionary writer/director behind Firefly, Marvel’s The Avengers, and more), reimagine the groundbreaking pop culture phenomenon for a new generation of comic book fans.

BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER #7 features three main covers. Mondo illustrator Marc Aspinall depicts a desperate Willow using her fledgling magical abilities to try to save her best friend, Xander, from his vampire self. Fan favorite artist Kevin Wada spotlights Buffy’s current crush, fellow Sunnydale student and captain of the track team, Robin Wood. And rising star artist Sonia Liao’s Chosen One cover features a katana-wielding Slayer from 16th Century Japan.

Buffy The Vampire Slayer premiered on the WB Network on March 10th, 1997. The Emmy and Golden Globe-nominated series, which ran for seven seasons from 1997-2003, stars Sarah Michelle Gellar as “Buffy Summers.” Chosen to battle vampires, demons and other forces of darkness, Buffy is aided by a Watcher who guides and teaches her as she surrounds herself with a circle of friends called the “Scooby Gang.”

BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER is the newest release from BOOM! Studios’ eponymous imprint, home to critically acclaimed original series, including Once & Future by Kieron Gillen and Dan Mora; Faithless by Brian Azzarello and Maria Llovet; Abbott from Saladin Ahmed and Sami Kivelä; Bury The Lede from Gaby Dunn and Claire Roe; Grass Kingsfrom Matt Kindt and Tyler Jenkins; and Klaus from Grant Morrison and Dan Mora. The imprint also publishes popular licensed properties including Joss Whedon’s Angel from Bryan Edward Hill and Gleb Melnikov, Firefly from Greg Pak and Dan McDaid, Buffy The Vampire Slayer from Jordie Bellaire and David López, and Mighty Morphin Power Rangersfrom Ryan Parrott and Danielle Di Nicuolo.

Print copies of BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER #7 will be available for sale on August 7, 2019 exclusively at local comic book shops (use comicshoplocator.com to find the nearest one) or at the BOOM! Studios webstore. Digital copies can be purchased from content providers, including comiXology, iBooks, Google Play, and the BOOM! Studios app.
