Long Road to Liquor City by Macon Blair and Joe Flood (February 20th, Adult Audiences)
From filmmaker Macon Blair (
Blue Ruin, I Don't Feel at Home in This World Anymore) and artist Joe Flood (
Science Comics) comes a Great Depression-era adventure comedy about love, friendship, and the pursuit of happiness. As jaunty hobos Jed and Thanny crisscross the country in search of the fabled Liquor City, they are pursued relentlessly by fearsome rail yard sergeant Ronan O’Feathers, who wrongly blames them for his wife’s death. With the the law on their tail and a succession of colorful characters along the way, the only constant is the absurdity and mayhem they leave in their wake on the
Long Road to Liquor City.
“
Long Road to Liquor City has been a passion project of ours for ten years, with Joe and I chipping away at it bit by bit in between our day jobs,” said Macon Blair. “Hard to believe it's actually coming out! It began as a ‘hobo comedy adventure,’ but with time I've come to see it as a love story. All our train-hopping heroes have in the world is each other, no amount of moonshine or hot dogs can change that, but being road partners is hard stuff and the fun of this book is putting their relationship to the test in increasingly dangerous ways. We always wanted to balance the laughs with heart.”
“Creating the art for
Long Road to Liquor City was a metaphorical road that stretches across most of my career to this point,” said Joe Flood. “Macon handed me the script shortly after finishing our first graphic novel project together and I might have bitten off more than I could chew, but the persistence of both myself, Macon and our editor resulted in a book that I’m not only proud of, but I find is a excellent cross-section of my growth as a comic artist.”

Guerillas: Omnibus Edition by Brahm Revel (February 27th, Adult Audiences)
Brahm Revel’s (
Marvel Knights: X-Men, T.M.N.T, Venture Bros) critically-acclaimed series is collected for the first time in one volume in the
Guerillas: Omnibus Edition! Private John Francis Clayton is on his first tour of duty in Vietnam, facing death at every turn in the middle of a war he doesn't understand. Clayton is just trying to stay alive when he encounters an elite platoon of.... simian soldiers?! This squad of chain-smoking chimps is the most dangerous fighting force in the jungle... but whose side are they on?
"All said and done,
Guerlilas took me almost ten years to complete,” said Brahm Revel. “Luckily, it was a story flexible enough to adapt to the changing sensibilities of a maturing artist. What started as a youthful adventure, wandered into rumination on war, the nature of man, and the relationships between fathers and sons. All that and monkeys, too—not so bad!”
Cretaceous by Tadd Galusha (March 27th, All Ages)
When a Tyrannosaurus Rex is separated from its family unit, it embarks on a harrowing journey to reunite with them before the raw, real dangers of the Cretaceous Period separate them for good. This heart-wrenching story takes to the skies and dives into the sea—and explores everywhere in between—in this research-based, fictional account written and illustrated by Tadd Galusha (
TMNT, Ghostbusters 2).
“Dinosaurs were such amazing and startling creatures,” said Tadd Galusha. “I’ve always imagined their lives played out as these visceral and turbulent, day-to-day epics across a harsh and unforgiving landscape disguised by nature’s splendor.”--
Our Super Adventure: Press Start to Begin by Sarah Graley (March 27th, Young Adult Audiences)
Fans of Kate Beaton and Sarah Andersen will love this collection of the hit webcomic
Our Super Adventure by Sarah Graley (
Rick and Morty, Kim Reaper)!
Eating too much pizza together. Smelling your cats. Figuring out how to spend your evening when the internet has suddenly stopped working. Relationships are full of sweet and quirky little moments! Sarah Graley’s first collection of the hit diary webcomic
Our Super Adventure chronicles two years of these strange, relatable instances, as she navigates life with four cats and one cat-like boy. Whether it’s that feeling of getting the entire bed when your partner gets up before you, or the heartbreaking realization that the love of your life has burned the microwave popcorn,
Press Start To Begin documents all the weird little everyday flashes of shared absurdity that make up a relationship.
“I've been drawing and sharing
Our Super Adventure strips online since 2012 about all the cute little everyday moments I have with my partner and our four cats,” said Sarah Graley. “We've had so many amazing conversations with people who tell us that they've experienced similar cute moments in their own relationships!
Press Start To Begin is a really sweet collection of personal comics that also holds up a mirror to the sweet dorky moments that we all seem to experience during everyday life with a loved one. I love working on this series—it's so nice to share these weird little moments with the world.” --
Pilu of the Woods by Mai K. Nguyen (April 17th, All Ages)
A heartwarming story of friendship, loss, and finding your way home from debut author/illustrator Mai K. Nguyen! Willow loves the woods near her house. They’re calm and quiet, so different from her own turbulent emotions, which she keeps locked away. When her emotions get the better of her one day, she decides to run away into the woods. There, she meets Pilu, a lost tree spirit who can’t find her way back home—which turns out to be the magnolia grove Willow’s mom used to take her to. Willow offers to help Pilu, and the two quickly become friends. But the journey is long, and Pilu isn’t sure she’s ready to return home yet—which infuriates Willow, who’s determined to make up for her own mistakes by getting Pilu back safely. As a storm rages and Willow’s emotions bubble to the surface, they suddenly take on a physical form, putting both girls in danger… and forcing Willow to confront her inner feelings once and for all.
"With
Pilu of the Woods, I wanted to show how the kindest thing you can do for a grieving heart is to embrace your emotions, both good and bad, and to open yourself up to the people that you love,” said Mai K. Nguyen. “I hope readers of all ages find Willow and Pilu’s journey through the woods to be an uplifting adventure."
With previous work displayed digitally, this is Mai’s first publication. Pilu of the Woods was an acquisition from Oni Press’s 2015 open submissions.

NEW 'WITCHBLADE' SERIES COMING FROM TOP COW04/18/24 @ 11:37 am EST
Source: Top Cow | Categories: Witchblade | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a CommentTop Cow is reimagining the hit supernatural thriller series Witchblade. The new series, coming July 2024, will be penned by
NYT Best-Selling Marguerite Bennett (
Animosity,
Batwoman,
DC Bombshells) and visualized by artist Giuseppe Cafaro (Suicide Squad, Power Rangers, Red Sonja). The creative duo is working with original co-creator Marc Silvestri, who is the CEO of Top Cow Productions Inc. and one of the founders of Image Comics. Together, they will reintroduce the series to
Witchblade’s die-hard fans with a reimagined origin with contemporary takes on familiar characters and new story arcs that will hook new readers and rekindle the energy and excitement that fueled the 90’s Image Revolution that shaped generations of top creators.Marguerite Bennett, who has been focused on writing for the upcoming
Butterfly TV Series and
Ark: The Animated Series, says, “The ability to tell a ferocious story full of monsters, sexuality, vision, and history was irresistible.” She adds, “Our saga is sleek, vicious, ferocious, and has a lot to say about power in the 21st century and will be the first time that we are stopping the roller coaster to let more people on. I’ve loved
Witchblade since I was a child, and there is truly no other heroine like Sara with such an iconic legacy and such a rich, brutal relationship to her own body.”
In
Witchblade #1, New York City Police Detective Sara Pezzini's life was forever fractured by her father's murder. Cold, cunning, and hellbent on revenge, Sara now stalks a vicious criminal cabal beneath the city, where an ancient power collides and transforms her into something wild, magnificent, and beyond her darkest imaginings. How will Sara use this ancient power, or will she be consumed by it? Through last year’s
Witchblade Complete Collection Kickstarter, the world received a glimpse of Marc Silvestri’s
Witchblade Armor redesign. But, a whole new universe has been created by Giuseppe Cafaro, who states, “The
Witchbladeuniverse is being modernized to reflect how Marguerite beautifully explores the extreme sides of Sara through memories, her personal thoughts, like desire and hunger, in her solitude and when she is possessed by the Witchblade. So, I had to visually intersect a noir
True Detective-like world with a supernatural, horror world that is a fantastic mix between
Berserk and
Zodiac!”Marc Silvestri notes, “This is brand new mythology around Sara, and I can’t wait for you to fall in love with her and all the twists and turns. Discover Witchblade reimagined this summer, and join us as we bring all the fun of the 90s to the modern age and see how exciting comics can be. I can’t wait for you to read this new series.”

'DIE' CREATORS GILLEN & HANS RETEAM FOR GRAPHIC NOVEL 'WE CALLED THEM GIANTS'04/18/24 @ 11:27 am EST
Source: Image Comics | Categories: Image | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a CommentThe bestselling creators behind the three-time Hugo Award nominated, two-time British Fantasy Award winning series
Die—Kieron Gillen (
The Wicked + The Divine, Immortal X-men) and Stephanie Hans (
Secret Wars 1602: Witch Hunter Angela, Black Bolt)—will reteam for their first ever original graphic novel collaboration to be titled,
We Called Them Giants. This epic, post-apocalyptic story is scheduled to hit shelves in November from Image Comics. Gillen and Hans first made waves with their breakout hit dark fantasy
Die in 2018.
Die quickly caught reader attention and the series skyrocketed to the top of the sales charts and launched Hans’ career into superstardom. It went on to appear on many Best of the Year lists, including that of
Tor.com, and snagged multiple award nominations and wins. "After we finished
Die, we knew we wanted to do something completely different. Rather than a sprawling ongoing, do something smaller, intimate, self-contained and really pure,” said Gillen. “So, in the middle of the covid lockdowns, I was left alone with my cats, staring at them, and them staring at me, and thinking about the miracle of relationships between beings of completely different kinds of intelligences, and the wonder of the jump across that gap. The image of the feral girl in the devastation and the giants came quickly after that, and we were away. People will fall in love and have their hearts broken—the full Hans/Gillen experience. Despite the post-apocalypse setting the story has an almost weird-fable kind of vibe, and ends up basically as a conversation between
The Walking Dead and
The Iron Giant. Basically,
We Called Them Giants is the story of communication across a chasm at the end of the world. Folks have seen what Stephanie does on a month-by-month rush on an ongoing comic. Here, it's a thrill to see her luxuriate—creating this single long story, and being able to shape the whole thing into a poignant, romantic, devastating single canvas."
We Called Them Giants follows main character Lori, who wakes to find the streets empty. Everyone has gone. Or at least, nearly everyone. She’s thrown into a world where she has to scrape by in the ruins of civilization, nearly starving, hiding from gangs when… They arrive. Hans added: “As an Artist, it is always a joy to work on new challenges, especially when it is with such a great Writer. Kieron wrote an emotional story in which he let me go wild on designs. It’s a new, beautiful end of the world tale, a little bit epic, a bit nostalgic and a bit contemplative. It’s nothing like we did before. In all the best ways.”
We Called Them Giants promises readers the poignant, romantic, and devastating story of a young girl who wakes up to find her world has turned upside down. "This book is nothing short of incredible," said Eric Stephenson, Publisher and Chief Creative Officer at Image Comics. "Kieron and Stephanie had already established themselves as one of comics’ premier creative teams, but they’re operating at a whole other level with
We Called Them Giants."
We Called Them Giants hardcover (ISBN: 978-1534387072) will be available at local
comic book shops on Wednesday, October 30 and independent bookstores, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Books-a-Million, Indigo, and Waterstones on Tuesday, November 12.
We Called Them Giants will also be available across many digital platforms, including Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, and Google Play.
