BOX-OFFICE PREVIEW: 'GLASS' TO TOP MLK WEEKEND WITH $60M-$70M01/17/19 @ 2:45 pm EST

THR is reporting that M. Night Shyamalan's
Glass looks to do near-record business at the box office over the long Martin Luther King Jr. weekend.
Tracking shows the film debuting in the $60 million-$70 million range domestically, the best start for the holiday behind Clint Eastwood's 2015 film
American Sniper ($107.2 million), not adjusted for inflation.
Ride Along turned in the next-biggest holiday gross with a four-day debut of $48.6 million in 2014.
Usually, MLK weekend boasts several new Hollywood offerings. This year, rival studios stayed away because of
Glass, a superhero thriller starring Samuel L. Jackson, Bruce Willis and James McAvoy.
Glass is the final title in the original trilogy created by Shyamalan that began 19 years ago with Disney's
Unbreakable, starring Willis and Jackson, and followed by Universal's
Split, a surprise 2015 box-office hit starring McAvoy whose final scene linked to the filmmaker's 2000 film.

Valiant launched seven new titles in 2018 and carried over popular runs of X-O MANOWAR, BLOODSHOT SALVATION, QUANTUM AND WOODY!, and NINJA-K from the previous year.
Valiant is the publisher of the largest independent superhero universe in comics, featuring such iconic characters as X-O Manowar, Shadowman, Ninjak, Archer and Armstrong, Livewire, and Bloodshot, who is also starring in an upcoming film from Sony Pictures starring action superstar Vin Diesel.
In the coming months, Valiant will launch several new titles, including INCURSION by Andy Diggle, Alex Paknadel, and Doug Braithwaite and THE FORGOTTEN QUEEN by Tini Howard and Amilcar Pinna in February; THE LIFE AND DEATH OF TOYO HARADA by Joshua Dysart and CAFU in March; PUNK MAMBO by Cullen Bunn and Adam Gorham in April; FALLEN WORLD by Dan Abnett and Adam Pollina in May; and KILLERS by B. DYNAMITE ANNOUNCES COOL COLLECTIBLE ENAMEL PINS02/15/19 @ 7:27 pm EST
Source: Dynamite | Categories: Dynamite | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a CommentDynamite Entertainment has some awesome announcements just in time for Toy Fair 2019!
Dynamite is producing their first ever crossover enamel pins in collaboration with Archie Comics. Due for release in May to coincide with the launch of the bombastic
Red Sonja and Vampirella Meet Betty and Veronica crossover, the four limited edition pins feature the eponymous stars of the comic in iconic headshot form. Each 1.5” diameter pin is designed by award-winning artist Francesco Francavilla, based on his amazing cover artwork from the first issue.
Enamel pins have blown up in popularity the last several years, fueled by unique inspiring artists like Francavilla and collectors sharing their finds on social media. Dynamite has fulfilled rabid fans so far with pins featuring Red Sonja, Vampirella and the Chaos! Universe. The pins will be available as a discounted set as well as separately for super fans of the characters. Dynamite encourages everyone to collect them all!
"I've been working for both Dynamite and Archie Comics for a decade now, so when I was approached with the first crossover between these two favorite publishers of mine, I was ecstatic,” said Francesco Francavilla. “Not only was I asked to do a cover featuring four of the best, strongest female characters in comics, but I also got to do pins for each character. Best. Crossover. Ever!”
"Francesco's vision of Archie is iconic and legendary, so when it came time to bring this crossover to life in pin form, having his take made perfect sense," said Archie Comics Co-President Alex Segura. "Dynamite did a fantastic job putting these together and we're happy to be a part of it.
"I can't express how happy I am to not only have a great crossover with our friends at Archie, but also to take it to the next level to release these cool pins to create more excitement for our dedicated fans," said Dynamite CEO/Publisher Nick Barrucci. "And being able to work with Francesco Francavilla to design these, well, words can't express how excited I am!"

The Red Sonja and Vampirella Meet Betty and Veronica Enamel Pin Set will be solicited in Diamond Comic Distributors’ March 2019 Previews catalog, the premier source of merchandise for the comic book specialty market, and slated for release in May 2019. Fans are encouraged to preorder with their local comic book retailers. RIVERDALE'S LEADING LADIES MEET THE WOMEN OF DYNAMITE THIS MAY02/15/19 @ 7:32 pm EST
Source: Dynamite | Categories: Dynamite | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a CommentDynamite Entertainment announces the most unexpected and exciting crossover of the year...Red Sonja and Vampirella Meet Betty and Veronica!

Dynamite's first ever crossover with Archie Comics could not be any bigger. The flagship Women of Dynamite come face to face with Riverdale's leading ladies to solve a string of paranormal, unsolved murders. When Drakulon and Hyrkania drop off their famous vampire hunter and sword-wielding barbarian into the small, sleepy town something is surely afoot.
Amy Chu (Red Sonja, KISS: The End, Poison Ivy) returns to the fiery-haired She-Devil to write even more of a fish out of water tale than her fan favorite Worlds Away arc. Joining her on the art side is Maria Laura Sanapo (DC Comics Bombshells, Charmed) who just drew the Vampirella Valentine's Day Special. Together these two women will chronicle the incomparable charm of their four leading ladies.
Both Dynamite and Archie have had great crossovers with the biggest publishers in the industry! Archie Comics has a long history of fun crossovers with pop culture and comic book icons, blending Americana with horror, sci-fi, rock and roll, and more. From Batman, The Punisher, The Ramones, KISS, and even The Predator, Archie and the gang have had countless encounters with strange and deadly forces in the town of Riverdale. Even with so many famous faces having visited, nothing has prepared Betty & Veronica as they meet two of the most legendary women in comics.
Amy Chu remembers having a Josie and the Pussycats lunchbox as a kid and shared some other Archie memories, "Archie was one of the few comics my Mom would buy for us now and then. We didn’t have a lot of money growing up so my mom wasn’t about to blow it all on comics." Such a big deal crossover can be daunting to even seasoned pros like Chu, "Whereas I've done quite a bit of Red Sonja to date, this is my first Archie book, and also Vampirella. Of course there's the challenge of pulling it off, not every kind of story is suited for this kind of team up." On what fans can expect from this series, "What would bring these four women together? A mysterious spree of supernatural killings in Riverdale High, of course!"
Fans of these characters and newcomers alike will jump for joy when faced with the impossible decision of which covers to choose from. Why not collect them all?
Fay Dalton (James Bond: Casino Royale, Nancy Drew & the Hardy Boys) kicks things off with her painterly style perfectly accentuating the crimson mane of Sonja and the teenage pep of the Riverdale girls in the locker room. Also represented are Archie Horror legends Francesco Francavilla (Afterlife with Archie, Black Panther, Will Eisner's The Spirit), Robert Hack (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Elvira Mistress of the Dark) and Laura Braga (Blossoms 666, Harley & Ivy Meet Betty & Veronica, DC Comics Bombshells). Paulina Ganucheau (Peter Cannon: Thunderbolt, Mother Panic) brings her always adorable style with a cover featuring fashionable reinterpretations for Red Sonja and Vampirella's timeless costumes. Dynamite continues its tradition of fun cosplay covers with women portraying the four heroines for this series. Last but certainly not least, no series starring the Archie characters would be complete without a contribution from the legendary Dan Parent, who has written and drawn everyone's favorite teens for over 30 years!
"We've wanted to play in the sandbox with the Dynamite gang for some time, and I'm really happy the stars aligned on this one,” said Archie Comics Co-President Alex Segura. “Amy Chu's story is a fun, energized romp that brings together our iconic duo of Betty and Veronica with Vampi and Red Sonja. Four badass ladies join forces for a crossover you won't forget. What more could you want?"
"Like so many comic book fans, Archie was a constant favorite as a youngster. I've been so impressed with how they've taken the publishing to a new level in recent years with diverse stories like the Archie Horror line and the New Riverdale relaunch. And like so many others, I'm glued to my TV watching Riverdale now," said Nick Barrucci. "I just knew we had to do this crossover for the fans!"
Red Sonja and Vampirella Meet Betty and Veronica #1 will be solicited in Diamond Comic Distributors’ March 2019 Previews catalog, the premier source of merchandise for the comic book specialty market, and slated for release in May 2019. Comic book fans are encouraged to preorder copies with their local comic book retailers. It will also be available for individual customer purchase through digital platforms courtesy of Comixology, Kindle, iBooks, Google Play, Dynamite Digital, ComicsPlus, and more!

Source: Dynamite | Categories: Dynamite | Comments (0) | E-mail Article | Add a CommentDynamite Entertainment has some awesome announcements just in time for Toy Fair 2019!

Dynamite has two stunning statues for collectors and fans of high quality art being solicited for May. Sculptor Steve Kiwus and RVCKVS International created an incredible statue for Joseph Michael Linsner's iconic Dawn. This statue leaps off the comic book page. Amanda Conner and Jason Smith bring the She-Devil with a Sword, Red Sonja, in a rare black and white artist proof edition.
Dawn was created by Joseph Michael Linsner in 1989 for an anthology series. Fans were instantly drawn to her unique captivating design, all thanks to Linsner's one-of-a-kind style. Since then she has starred in five series and several other appearances, skyrocketing her creator's career alongside her. Dynamite has a long history working with Joseph Michael Linsner, collaborating on some of the best comic covers ever. In 2014 Linsner wrote and drew Dawn/Vampirella and right now his Vampirella: Roses for the Dead miniseries written by his wife Kristina Deak-Linsner is publishing.
The Dawn Artist Proof edition is the highest quality version of the statue and produced in limited quantities. Fans should act fast to reserve their copy.
The Red Sonja by Amanda Conner Black & White Artist Proof Edition statue is an unparalleled piece for collectors and fans of the character. Conner has made a name for herself as one of the greatest comic book artists of all time and Dynamite in particular treasures her work on characters like Red Sonja and Vampirella. This statue brings her vision of the She-Devil with a Sword to three dimensions in high quality resin! Sculptor Jason Smith flawlessly translated the original cover artwork from Red Sonja: The Black Tower #1.
Only 99 copies of this special variant edition will be produced! The statue measures approximately 7.5" high and stands on a 3" wide base. Each one includes a numbered certificate of authenticity and ships in a full-color display box.
"We have been able to build our reputation as a great producer of statues, busts and other items for collectors over the years, and these latest offerings are no exception! Fans should love the artistry on display with these pieces and hopefully want them on their shelves just like we do," said Nick Barrucci, CEO/Publisher of Dynamite Entertainment.
These Dynamite statues will be solicited in Diamond Comic Distributors’ March 2019 Previews catalog, the premier source of merchandise for the comic book specialty market, and slated for release in May 2019. Fans are encouraged to preorder with their local comic book retailers.

JUGHEAD'S TIME POLICE #1 cover by Derek CharmAn Archie Comics cult classic centuries in the making is returning to comic shops in June with the revival of JUGHEAD'S TIME POLICE! The original '90s mini-series, a madcap sci-fi comedy in which Riverdale's champion layabout is tasked with saving all of human history, has long been one of Archie fandom's favorite storylines.
In the revamped take, Jughead travels through time to right a food-related wrong that quickly leads to a battle for the timestream itself! Written by
Sina Grace (Adventure Time, Iceman) with art by Eisner Award-winning artist
Derek Charm (JUGHEAD,
The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl), colorist
Matt Herms, and letterer
Jack Morelli, the wild new mini-series will run for five issues starting June 12, and could continue beyond that if fan response demands it.
“JUGHEAD'S TIME POLICE is a beloved concept that was screaming to be modernized, so once we read Sina's pitch, we knew we were in business,” said Archie Comics Co-President
Alex Segura. "He honors what came before but gives the idea a much-needed jolt. I can't think of a better artist to bring it to life than Derek, who had a stellar run on the main JUGHEAD title -- which kind of feels like a warmup for this!"
