Coming Soon back to top Del Toro Talks Creature of Black Lagoon by Bob Gough Blade 2 and Hellboy director Guillermo del Toro is talking about his plans to update The Creature from the Black Lagoon. "I'll be given carte blanche to develop the story, although I will bring in another writer," he told Fangoria. "I want to set the story in Victorian times during the exploration of the Amazon. The original Creature was essentially King Kong, but I want to make it more a 'beauty and the beast' fable. I want the look and feel to be akin to Jules Verne's tales like 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. I want to increase the horror edge and make it really scary, because my archaeological explorers will discover an area of the Amazon that has been kept on a tangential track of evolution alongside mankind. So there will be giant carnivorous squid, prehistoric sharks and weird alternate lifeforms that shouldn't really exist in such a fresh-water environment. Fish do truly have either an angelic or devilish quality, and I want to play on that," he said. Fangoria, Coming Soon back to top New Terminator 3 Banner by Bob Gough A new theater banner for Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines has debuted on the Web. It features Kristanna Loken as the TX. Coming Soon back to top Rodionoff Talks Tortured Souls by Bob Gough Comic book to film expert scribe Hans Rodionoff is talking about the film based on Todd McFarlane and Clive Barker's Tortured Souls toyline. "There's already such a huge pre-awareness of this project and we've already been given a pretty great window into the movie, just by having the action figures out there," he told Creature Corner. "Since everybody's already seen or bought the figures, I don't think I'll be spoiling anything when I say that you're gonna see some of those creatures, and they're gonna scare the crap out of you. One thing is, I think anyone who looks at the figures will immediately think of Hellraiser, I know I did. But after reading Clive's original treatment, I realized that they were moving it into a completely new direction, and that's what got me really excited. So, yes, you will see some of the Tortured Souls big as life and in the rotting flesh. No, this is not going to be a Hellraiser movie," he said. Bolts To Big Screen by Bob Gough New Line Cinema and DC Comics want to make a big screen version of the Shazam! comic book characters. The comic is about Billy Batson, a young boy who is given the power of the gods to become the super-powerful Captain Marvel. Although the distinction is clear to comic fans, how the movie will avoid confusing the character with one published by Marvel is unknown at this time.
